At first it is only dark. The blackness cannot be seen through no matter how used to the dark you are; it's a blackness that defies light in every way.
And then, contrarily, there is light.
Blue, purple, green, the strands of light brighten the way enough to allow the space that you are in to be seen. It's decrepit. Lines of light like strings run through, around and are tied to what seem to be old, half-coded buildings, because it is undoubtedly true that everything present is code.
Everything is slightly off here.
The floor may suddenly no longer be solid, and then you're falling, through blackness and empty space, until you are dropped right back where you were before, an unsettling glitch that truly has no impact in the end. A building, half-finished and unreal, can be walked through as if it isn't there.
And strung up by those lines of light, there are faces.
They may be faces you know, people you have seen before. They may even be the faces of people back home, but they have passed through Cerealia before, and that is why they are here. This is, after all, the Nexus Code--Nexus Space. And you are not alone here; it seems you are all stuck here, and there's no exit to be found. The bodies can't be interacted with; if you try to touch them, your fingers will pass right through them, just as you can't touch the lights.
But the problem isn't with the lights, or the buildings, or the floor, or the bodies. No, the problem is with you, because the longer you're in here, the more your body fades away as your code is corrupted by your surroundings. Bit by bit, you can touch less, feel less, see less, hear less, until it's clear that you're doomed to fade away.
And even worse, the longer you look at those motionless, strung up bodies of friends and family, the more it becomes clear, a niggling sensation that you can't shake: there are faces that should be here that are missing, as well.

Welcome to the wrap-up to Cerealia's July event!
Characters have been dropped into the Nexus Code, and there's no easy way out of here; the bodies they will find will be those of any character that has dropped from Cerealia except for those with high magic abilities or spiritual affinity of some sort. Those characters will be mysteriously absent, even if they were dropped from Cerealia before. Feel free to use your best judgement in that.
Please visit the OOC information here, and should you have any questions, feel free to ask them here! You can also check the FAQ for more general inquiries. Characters will be stuck in the Nexus Code for one full day: 8/01 to 8/03, or IC 2/13 through 2/14. Should this event log hit Captcha, there is an all-purpose overflow here. Thank you! |

Eeeeeeeek!
[ calm down, athena. calm down. she falls over backwards and moves away from them a bit, and that's when she bumps into blackquill. well, "bumps", anyway. more like she passes right through him. ]
S- Simon! There's got to be a way out!
[ even though it feels like there isn't... there's got to be. ]

[So far he'd been calm about everything, but hearing that scream is like a knife to the heart. He readies himself to catch her before she can bump into him-- but she passes straight through his body.]
Forgive me... I'd hoped you wouldn't be dragged to this place as well.
[His lack of response to what she said speaks volumes. He really sees no way they're going to get out of this.]

[ her tone is more desperate sounding than trying to sound sarcastic when she emphasises "everybody".
and she means it, too. so many people she knows - ones whose codes have been corrupted, as well. is this what's going to happen to her, too? she's faced death here so many times, but seeing what fate she and the rest of her friends would have is really painful to take in. ]
M- Maybe there's something in the buildings. Come on, we have to check!
[ more desperation. she just really wants out. and it looks like both of them aren't listening to one another right now. ]

[--really buildings, he wants to say, but he knows there's no point in trying to argue when it will just upset her further. If there's even the slimmest possibility there's a way out, he'd be willing to help Athena find it. And it's better than her running off on her own and getting trapped in some glitched space somewhere.]
Let's go, then. [He picks the closest half-finished building, heading purposefully toward it.]

he runs after simon, tailing him as they head into a building. it's so inception-y in here, and, well, when the do get there, it's as if the building wasn't there at all. there's nothing to enter, as it was a two-dimensional thing. ]
No...

Don't be discouraged. We've yet to check the other areas.
[...Wasn't he being the most discouraged person of all, a few seconds ago?]

[ her response takes a while, but when she does, it looks like she's made up her mind about something.
she's been displaying poor conduct ever since she saw people whom she cares about up there as lifeless bodies, hanging as if on display. but showing how daunted she is pretty embarrassing. it's only simon who can see her now, but if others saw her (which they will), then... what would they think? ]
Come on, then. [ already walking ahead, her chin up as she does. ] We've got to inspect everything.

We'll check all the buildings and proceed from there. Some of the code is bound to be more complete elsewhere.

Times like these, I just want to give Mr. Mosley a good one-two!
[ oh no... you're coming off too strong, athena. heel a bit, would you. . . ]
no subject
[There's venom in his voice. He's still furious about the tours, and now this is only worsening matters.]
no subject
That's actually not a bad idea.
... But you need to tone it down just a little bit.
[ not fun hearing the anger in his tone at all. ]
no subject
[But for Athena's sake, he'll let it go for now. Besides which, worrying about not disappearing takes precedence.]
no subject
[ yeah, now she completely believes that this? this is just temporary. it's all a dream, it's all fleeting. her optimism is back to normal and is working in full motion. ]
