![]() ViViD has opened up a new world that new arrivals will be pulled into while frequent players will be invited to check out. This particular setting is the new beta world that CERES is constructing in time for the Hallow's Eve celebrations and festivals. It's a world inhabited by the undead and several ghouls and monsters of typical horror lore. Inside, one will encounter werewolves, lichens, vampires, succubi, incubi, specters, mummies, and so on. They will be on the prowl and eager to attack, but players need only concern themselves with getting through and getting out. At first, players will awaken outside of a large manor supposedly owned by a wealthy noble who is rumored to be practicing strange alchemic experiments within. Many know him simply as The Count. New arrivals and those logging into ViViD will first find themselves being greeted by their guide at the start screen:

Welcome to CEREALIA's latest intro post. For your convenience, we have compiled a post detailing everyone's usual arrival experience (which is not entirely applicable this round for reasons stated above^) and a FAQ that should explain everything in more detail. Please read them thoroughly before playing. Thank you! |

[ Zara had been considering going in there just for exploration's sake - maybe he'd find Fiona in there, who knows - but Yuri's comment stops him in his tracks. Very rarely is Zara on the receiving end of a lecture.
He gives the door a rather dubious glance before looking back to Yuri. ]
What is inside?
no subject
[he sounds about as enthused with that topic as any normal person could be. and sure, he gets that in a general sense, it's probably a bad idea, but is that the sort of thing that really matters right now?
"battling four ghosts," huh.]
Not exactly a thrilling conversation piece. [save yourself, zara!]
no subject
He can't say he's ever had to worry about that before, but it certainly does sound scary. (Surprisingly, the "panda" part doesn't even remotely faze him - he just assumes there's a Kuma in there talking to people about taxes. Naturally. )]
An unusually realistic piece for a haunted house.
no subject
as opposed to the fake ones that he gets roped into wearing sometimes. the favors he does for other people, really...]
Well, I guess taxes have to being haunting and terrifying to someone. [yuri's not in that demographic, though.]
no subject
[ because it's not like the nobility has to worry about it much. Actually, House Galland was the one collecting the taxes, for the most part. ]
Maybe more, if they were anything like the wolf attacks going on outside.
no subject
yuri's not all that sure of the exact significance, but the contextual clues lead him to think it would have to be something similar to monsters attacking, especially in cities, and especially if things go awry with a barrier.]
The "peasantry" usually do fear it when people in power take advantage of their social and monetary standing by bleeding people dry to line their own pockets. [sorry, zara. that kind of hits a really sore spot with him.]
no subject
It's not my place to criticize the actions of the nobility... nor to generalize. [ ahem. ] That said, you and I don't have to worry about such things here, so it seems an odd addition.
no subject
but considering he doesn't know zara or the circumstances, he also can't just assume things, either. besides that, he does have a valid point.]
So I've heard. Then again, not much else seems to make a whole lot of sense around here.
no subject
[ he pauses, curiously casting a glance inside the room just to get a glimpse of the Tax Panda. It really is in there... and it really is lecturing some poor sap right now. Zara decides to heed Yuri's warning for the moment. Fiona probably isn't inside that room. ]
Do you think we're meant to defeat it?
no subject
[which... it's not, really. weird? yes. boring? definitely. annoying? hell yeah. but the tax panda hasn't been hostile.]
I hung out in there for a while before coming out here, and he just talks to whoever listens. He's... a little intense, but he doesn't really stop anyone from walking out, either.
no subject
[ if you could call it that. Zara has the attitude of a crotchety old man when it comes to video games, thanks to Cerealia. Despite being the one who suggested it, he hardly seems like he's about to go in there and hit the poor bear. ]
no subject
[he's not disagreeing that it does seem like fighting is the goal in mind here, he's doesn't think this is their target. yuri's not big on attacking the innocent, especially if they're defenseless.]
So there's probably something else around here we haven't seen yet.
no subject
I'll check the other rooms, then. Thank you for the warning.
no subject
[the colossal waste of time, at that. but he's got no real reason to make such a big deal about it. he doesn't really want to keep zara hanging around if there's something better he can be doing, too. he's not really into wasting people's time like that.]
If I come across anything else and run into you again, I'll give you a heads up. [the least he can do is that much though, right?]
