[Sometimes a guy just needs to get out and go do something. By himself.

And sometimes that guy is Harada Sanosuke.

Yes, contrary to popular belief, he is his own person and not actually attached to Shinpachi’s hip. Though it is strange to see him go drinking by himself, considering how social he usually is. But after the events of the previous week, he just needs a breather and some relative peace and quiet. Perhaps it just helps with his thinking. (Should Sano really think really hard about some things, though?) Or maybe he doesn’t have the energy to deal with other rambunctious friends (sorry, Shinpachi), especially after having to try and make amends for all the crap that happened when he didn’t have any control over any of it.

Of course, that doesn’t mean he’ll go to just any bar. No, even though he doesn’t necessarily want to be bothered, he figures there’s one guy he can trust to let him relax. At least, in their previous conversations, Tenka has struck Sano as a decent guy. And they get along, so that’s a plus.

When Sano enters the now-familiar bar, Tenka may notice that Sano isn’t quite as exuberant as he usually is. He’s also showing up a little earlier than is usual for a night out. But when he sits down at the bar, he still offers the other man a smile.]

Still got my usual? Though I guess I should say I’m takin’ it easy tonight.

[Despite Tenka's usual tendency to be too loud and too obnoxious, there's also part of it that's purposeful. So when Sano wanders in less exuberant and bright as he usual, he notices but he doesn't comment. Because despite Tenka's other tendency to say the dumbest things known to man, he's actually quite capable of reading social situations.

It seems like right now loudness and being too energetic wouldn't be conducive to Sano's night - he can understand that much.

(Not to mention the fact that after a week of not being able to touch people, feeling like he was really and truly dead, and then coming to the realization that he never wants to actually be truly dead, Tenka's not feeling entirely up to his usual antics either. So this works out well for him indeed.)]

Definitely do. [And he's just chuckling as he brings out the sake and pours Sano a cup.] If you're not gonna burn a hole in my pocket anyway, tonight's on me.

[Especially since Sano seems like he might need it.]

[Yes, this is already shaping up to be a good night. Everything's nice and casual, Tenka's got his drink going, no one's asking where Shinpachi is...it's relaxing. It's very good. This bar is definitely carving itself out as a haven of sorts, should Sano ever need to get away. Which is kind of funny considering he just met Tenka not too long ago and he knows it's stupid to trust new acquaintances fully, but this has promise.

But then Tenka says that nonsense about free drinks again and Sano leans forward.]

Oi, oi, Tenka. You gotta stop that. It's bad for business.

[Not that Sano actually has experience with running a business but this much is at least obvious.]

Trying to tell me how to do my job? [Tenka laughs at that before shaking his head and shrugging easily.] It's fine. It's my treat!

[He tilts his head and well.... he's not really one to pry or assume another person's experiences but if there's anything he knows for sure it's this:] Besides, the past week's been tough, right? Something's telling me you need a break so just let me help create the environment for that, alright?

Just trying to help you keep your job. Besides, I hope you're not this generous with everyone you know. I wouldn't feel so special anymore.

[But Sano gives Tenka a small smile. All right, pal, you win this time. Again.

Who says I just don't wanna have a relaxing drink without getting completely out of control? I know it comes as a shock to most people, but I can be responsible.

[He takes a sip of the sake.]

It was a pretty shitty week, though. Glad that's over.

Nah, buddy, special treatment just for you. [and Shinpachi. but eehhhh, they're like a packaged deal, no one should be too surprised about that]
