//event009.EXE Always Believe in the Heart of the Cards Except When They Tell You to Kill People Welcome to CERES Research Tower’s latest event! For all you new folk queuing outside of the conference room where you were just made to sit through a lovely power point presentation, you will be asked to stay a bit longer and test out some games in their Game Testing Center. It’s a giant space located in the basement level filled to the brim with cubicles for everyone to sit in and enjoy their newest array of pop-up games. The games themselves will be in holo(gm) form and will feature suggestions from CEO’s post, including a simplified, 8-bit version of Tetris, Baseball, Soda Smash, etc. Characters can control the game through moving their fingers and tapping them against the holo(gm) screens. Surrounding the cubicles will be tables of food and more food for characters to partake in. It’s all safe this time. No mind-altering candy corn or gut-exploding Knight Burgers. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the party. For those who have been in Cerealia for a while, they should have received an invitation to the event and an offer of 1,000 credits just for participating. So come on down and bring a friend or ten! Meanwhile, CEO has a small welcome for everyone- “Good Morning and thank you all for coming! We have been expecting you. We hope you will enjoy what we’ve put together today. Ever since we got your feedback on << RAINBOW NARWHAL MELEE >>, we’ve been developing new games for all of you to enjoy. We’ve also tried to draw in some things from your worlds. We hope to hear more feedback from you in the future. In the meantime, feel free to sample our food, generously provided to us by TGICERES, a moderately-priced family restaurant located in the Shopping District."

//SCENARIOS.EXE PHASE I [ xxxx ] Music lightly wafts from the speakers as the showroom opens. Julius Vincere, CERES’ CEO, delivers the opening announcement before leaving the room. He’ll be watching through all the video cameras placed around the room, so be on your best behavior! You will be guided to one of the many cubicles where you will sit and wait for a screen to pop up with a game. Once that game is defeated, another will pop up and another and another until your character gets hungry/has to pee/is so done with this shit. PHASE II [ xxxx ] Among the game rotations is a simple 8-bit fortune telling game starring Aria, the fortune teller. Come be enchanted by her mysterious wiles as she reads your future. She will do some 8-bit arm motions before summoning a ring of cards that will float around her. Characters will be encouraged to pick a card -any card. Once one has been selected, it will turn around slowly and unveil a card from the major arcana. Aria will then give your character their fortune, and that will be that. End of game. Onto the next! PHASE III [ xxxx ] You’ve left the testing center, and the evening has passed. As you wake up to perform your normal daily tasks, a niggling urge emerges at the back of your mind. It’s faint at first, just a whisper of a suggestion that pokes at your brain like a mosquito bite. However, that bite starts to grow bigger and become infectious. As the day wears on, you find that one little suggestion escalating. The next day is even worse. It starts to dominate your every thought, making you carry out actions you never thought yourself capable of. Who is this person in the mirror? Who have you become? PHASE IV [ xxxx ] By day three, the impulse is now a full-blown addiction. It’s set into your psyche completely. You’ve become something else entirely –the embodiment of the card. You will be acting out everything without anymore resistance, and it won’t stop until the clock strikes midnight. That’s when you’ll reel back to your senses, and when it’ll all have felt like the worst dream ever. Or a nightmare really. BONUS [ whyo'clock ] Among all the games present, there is also an 8-bit version of CERESLearn. Yes, you remember the magical game that won your hearts over not too long ago. It will come complete with the same rules. You choose a subject, you choose an 8-bit teacher among the three (Astor), (Hilda), or (UN-Zippy), and you watch them as they try to erotically teach you what you want to learn. Is that an 8-bit boob or her arm? Who knows? But beware… as you may remember, these teachers house a very terrible secret. They will transform into an 8-bit giant bug that will chase around your protag as you guide them to run away with your finger, but you can also flick the bug on the holo(gm) screen to send them away for good. Those who figure out that little cheat code will immediately receive a special real-time shoulder rub as a reward from a robot that looks eerily like a carbon copy of their teacher of choice. [ Remember to apply proper warnings on threads with trigger-y or inappropriate material and do let a mod know if your thread careens off into maiming or canoodling so we can lock the log. ]

Phase One/Two

[Mabel was more than excited by this entire event. She has no real idea where she is, how she got here or anything like that but there is free food, free games and free money. Most important are the first two, which she is indulging in shamelessly. It doesn't even matter how many games are paraded in front of her, this little girl will sit in her cubicle, kick her feet and play through them all!

When she gets up to eat or perform various other activities, she'll bounce from cubicle to cubicle, peeking her head in to be social with the others who are also participating.]

Hi there! I'm Mabel! How many of these have you played so far?

[Or she might run into someone outside as well, more than happy to chat them up between eating one dish or another and sharing it with the large pig sitting at her side.]

Do you want to do a versus mode with me? I mean none of these really have a versus mode that I could see but I figure we could play the same one and see who beats it the fastest!!

[This is probably like those white van scenarios her parents had warned her about many times. Big strange city basically kidnaps you and offers you free games and free food, that's probably a bad thing but she's willing to risk it. This is just too fun!]

Phase Four

[A squealing pig is totally normal, right? Especially one that is running through the streets with a little girl chasing after it? And there is absolutely nothing strange that this girl is running after it as if she's some kind of dog! Except that is probably very strange and is something that will be commonly seen through the day. If you try and get too close - maybe to help this poor animal or figure out what's going on with this girl - you'll find yourself with a situation on your hands. That being said girl has stopped and is growling at you, bearing her oh-so-ferocious braces and backing away slowly. May not want to get too close!

Or perhaps you will find her sitting on the ground and working on an itch under her chin, trying to bend in such a way that she can reach it with one of her feet instead of just using her hands. You may even spot her laying on the pig from earlier, the poor animal tuckered out and the girl sprawled and fast asleep as well, not at all minding the fact that they're on the ground.

Though hopefully you'll have the sense to try and stop her from eating food that's been discarded from the ground with her barnyard friend, because she does not seem to realize that eating food off the ground is even remotely bad for her health...]

[ Mary isn't the best at these games. In fact, she sort of sucks at them, and the fortune telling one had been okay, except she still didn't understand "Land is always on the mind of a flying bird."

But that aside, she's terrible. And she's already frowning at the screen, ready to quit-- when someone's suddenly there and loud, and making her shriek in shock and topple out of her chair with a resounding and impressive crash.

Hi, Mabel. ]

Oh! Are you okay?

[She hadn't meant to startle someone that badly!! Immediately she moves to see if the girl needs any help up, offering her a hand while her pig offers her a few curious snuffles.]

Sorry! I didn't mean to scare you or anything...

[immobileyes]

I-I-I'm not scared-- [ says the startled bundle of hair, who is torn between taking Mabel's hand and staring at that pig. ]

Phase 2

::A more mature man would not engage in a gaming challenge with a little girl. He'd remind her that it's a bad idea to talk to strange adults, regardless of the fact that she's been kidnapped by strange adults and is surrounded by them.

Prussia? Is not that man.::

Versus...? ...Sure! But only if I get to pick the game.

[Maturity is nothing when it comes to games. Everybody knows that! And talking to strange adults is hardly a thing to be concerned with in this kind of environment.

What's important? The fact that this guy said yes. She crosses her arms smoothly with a grin.]

Alright, I'll accept those terms! But only if I get a reward if I win!

[Rock Lee doesn't turn to face the girl when she peeks in; his eyes remain focused intensely on the current game of Tetris. As she asks him questions, he quickly fires back answers. But at least they're with a friendly tone.]

Eight! This game will make nine! Ah... I would love to take part in a youthful competition!!

Wow! You're really good!

[She's beaten a good number herself, but got a little distracted by food and other people before really getting that high up.]

Great!! When you're finished with that game then, we can figure out what to play!

[ANOTHER FAMILIAR FACE. Oz has at least come to accept that not everyone he recognizes will recognize him though, thanks to Natalia, so he doesn't start this conversation off on as familiar a foot as he might if he wasn't aware of weird jamjar shenanigans. She might notice the look of recognition, but it's quickly followed by a smile (both for her and for her big fat pig).]

So like a competition or something? Sure! We could put something at stake for the prize, too. [Fishing around in his pockets and then PULLING OUT A COUPON for a free bag of caramels at his favorite candy shop!!]

[Unfortunately this is one of those cases! She has no idea who this nice looking man is, but stranger danger never meant anything to her and she's ecstatic that he's taking her up on the offer. And even more at that coupon just look at her eyes light up.]

Okay, that sounds great! Oh but umm...hmm. [Mabel reaches under her sweater, pulling out a shiny metallic bag and holding that up.]

If you're going to wager that, then I'll wager some of my stickers! Does five sound good? Five of my very best and very cutest stickers!

[Edgeworth is walking through the streets, hoping to get to the CERES Marketplace to run a few errands, when he halts in his tracks, his foot stopping in mid-step. If he brought that foot down, he would have stepped right on Mabel.

And she's lying...on a pig?? He looks absolutely flabbergasted as he tries to make heads or tails of this scenario. How...why...

Okay, it might just be yet another one of those crazy phenomena brought about by helping CERES test new video games. That doesn't mean he's comfortable with waking Mabel up, but she must find something more comfortable than the bare ground. So, he crouches down and speaks just loud enough to be heard.]

Excuse me...?

[The small girl stirs a little, rolling over. It's the pig who wakes up, staring up at the man curiously before he begins snorting a little and getting up.

Hey there mister do you have any food??

At least him moving out from under Mabel, effectively dropping her to the ground, wakes her up. Though all that really does is get her scrambling a little to get to her hands and feet, barking.

[Eating things from off the ground? That was just called being hungry and economical. Henry didn't find it strange at all.

And if there weren't exactly many animals in the city, that girl (and the pig too, he supposed) was closer to one than most, and Henry wanders over to see what she had found, crouching nearby to get a better look.]

Hey-o! Did you find something good?

[He doesn't make any attempt to try to take it from her, of course not. Even if he hadn't been raised by wolves, stealing another's food was just asking to be bitten.]

[Even if there's no attempt to take whatever treasure she's found, there's a bit of a wary growl from Mabel. Or as much of a growl as a little girl can muster. It is her food. Not yours. Go find your own!!!

Whatever it is looks like it...might be the remains of a hot dog or something similar? Maybe? It's a little hard to tell with most of it shoved in her mouth.]

[Yes, seeing a squealing pig cross his path was weird enough that Beat has to stop for a moment to watch it make its way down the next alley. What he doesn't realize is that there's a follow up of a growling girl following closely behind. Without meaning to, he now stands between the predator and its prey.]

[Make that growling and now barking. Because excuse her mister that is her prey how dare you get in her way??? She at least stops, keeping herself from ramming into him, but she looks as ferociously angry as a twelve year old with braces possibly can.]

Oh, you mean like a timed match? I wouldn't mind, actually. It'll kill some time, and it isn't as if I have anything else better to do.

[She shrugs, not really caring either way. Oh, but since Mabel introduced herself...]

I'm Inaba Himeko, by the way.

Yeah! That's the spirit! [Heck yes, all these fun people around. This is a great place, who cares if it's strange and about a million shades of Not Gravity Falls?]

It's nice to meet you Inaba! What kind of game do you want to play? I haven't played a whole lot of these yet myself but so far they've all been pretty fun!

[ Ciel hates these games. Like truly loathes them, because he is a very No Fun Allowed child. And yet, here he is, because one of the few things that will overpower his hate is his greed, and the promise of 1,000 credits was too much for him to actually resist. He'll be here as long as he needs to for the sake of that, but at the same time, it's very much unhappily, and he'd like to just get it all done and over with as quickly as possible.

So when someone comes to bother him, he's at first irritated, because he doesn't want to spend any longer here than he has to, thank you very much, and he turns towards Mabel as she introduces herself.

His expression immediately changes to one of shock, almost like he's just seen a ghost. He doesn't think too much about the fact that she's introducing herself, since he's too surprised to process that fully, but the recognition on his face is clear enough. Of course, for Mabel, that's probably more than a little surprise, since a boy her age with an eyepatch and a posh British accent would be hard to forget. ]

...Mabel? [ He stands up from his seat, since the game is immediately forgotten. ] When did you— Did you just get here?

[ineptus]

[It is a surprise! Because she would definitely recognize a cutie like this. Come on, he's go an eye patch, he's a foreigner, what a hunk! But it's not really weird that he knows her name. After all, she did just introduce herself! And maybe the recognition comes from having met her brother first. They could easily pass off as one another if they tried, after all. So she doesn't even think about addressing that matter, much happier to answer his question instead.]

Yeah! Like basically today! Weird huh? Does that happen often or is this like some kind of special case? Because I guess I wouldn't be surprised if Dipper did something crazy and weird to land us in a place like this.

[And then with a grin, she plops down on the ground in front of Ciel.]

Not that I'm really complaining. Free games, free food, free money, this place is pretty great!

[ And here Shihoudou was out getting food. She's got her cheeks stuffed like a squirrel or something of the sorts, and even more on a plate.

At least she swallows it before she says anything. ]

[Fontech games that provided no money could only really occupy Anise for so long. So, naturally, she's taken to trolling the arcade for potential husbands (not that she'd find them) here instead.]
