[open] woah so serious
Who: Everybody!
When: 9 July (IC)
Where: The Sanctuary
What: A follow up to this! Citywide discussion log.
Rating/Warning: None so far! (Please let me know if things should be changed!)
[ the morning of the 9th, everybody should receive a text ]
Hi! I've updated the timeline summarising the recent events here in the colony. Check it out if you have the time, and let me know if there's anything you'd like to contribute!
Also, pizza party later at the Sanctuary. Be there at around 5! There's free food and drinks for everybody. :)
-- Athena Cykes
[ as promised, there's pizza boxes everywhere in the Sanctuary, and one of the tables has an array of drinks being served. there's soda, water, juice, and but nothing alcoholic! this is a serious event, after all, so let's try not to get drunk right now… ah. . . and don't forget to leave your cerevices by the door! this is a ceres-free environment after all.
once enough people are around and seated comfortably, athena tries to call everybody's attention by clapping her hands and yelling OBJECTION! really loudly. and we all know how loud she can be. . . so that's definitely one objective done. ]
So, I guess it's time to talk about that post on the network by that anonymous robot-looking thing. For those who just arrived, this is what I'm talking about. [ and with that, she clicks on a button on the remote control she's holding, and by one of the walls, the text in the said post will be projected. ]
Should we trust that anonymous poster, or should we trust CERES? I doubt there's anybody here who wants to trust CERES of all-- [ well, CERES is not a people, so she just waves a hand dismissively to finish her statement. ] Especially not after all those robots came in and tried to replace the originals.
I think… I want to trust Mosley, though. But nobody here has to share the same sentiment. I don't know much about him, and I'm just following my gut feeling, but-- [ she shakes her head. she can just talk about this further when prodded. she should be providing facts right now, not her opinion. ]
The moment upon arriving in the colony, we were fed information that the Flamines consumed our worlds - but we all know that's not true, either. After all, there are people here who have been able to go back home for a few days. From most of our experience with the Flamines, they're after CERES too, but at the same time, they've been working together. Or they used to, anyway. For those who don't know, the ocular implants we have are by the Flamine Federation. But now, the Flamines are after CERES because they have a debt to pay.
[ she glances around the room now, trying to look at everybody in the eye. ]
Tellus, in this case, are the following parties: The Bridge, and the four "Gods". [ air quotes included. ] Maris, Caeli, Occidi, and Ardeo. The Bridge was once held captive by CERES, and she was released by some people here. To thank them for what they did, The Bridge brought us to the jungle—her "home" and let us stay there for about a week or so. It wasn't exactly the best experience, but there aren't a lot good experiences here in the first place.
I could talk more about the parties in this post if asked, but for now, I want all of us to decide what to do with this announcement. I'd like to investigate all these parties, if possible, including Occidi, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Information and facts are our best weapon right now, after all.
So, if anybody else has something to say about all this, feel free. The floor is yours. And if there's anything you can offer, or if you know anything else, please share it with everybody. I know there's not any information I know that I would hide from anybody here.
[ awkwardly, she just shuffles away and takes a seat on one of the nearest sofas, hoping somebody would speak up and give their two cents. ]

You ever been inside their tower? [It's a rhetorical question.] Take it from someone who's been through there a couple of times. It's really not that easy to get anything out of there, much less always make it out alive. If we could devise some kind of plan to infiltrate the place without getting busted, fine, but that's easier said than done don't you think?
no subject
That'll depend entirely on how many people here are trained in infiltration and how many of those would be willing to take the risk.
[Last thing he'd want to do is sound as if he was chomping at the bit for torture but.]
I'm not talking about storming in, I'm talking about getting a team together to begin the process.
no subject
It's for that reason he's not even fazed by the idea that Neji might think he's not worth listening to. He's here to work with everybody regardless.]
From what I've seen a lot of the time those two things go hand in hand. And no duh. Nobody said anything about storming in. I'd like to think people are smarter than that when planning raids, especially knowing how much security CERES has installed around there.
What would your ideal team consist of then?
no subject
And really, Neji's making an effort to keep a cool head as well.
Say 'duh' one more time, though, and he won't promise he won't glare.
As for his team-- the names are on the tip of his tongue. The names, however, don't matter because half of them aren't present. For instance, a Yamanaka...] Someone to direct the operation from the outside- that person will be able to give orders and receive information through telepathy. [The kid did ask.] Those orders themselves will come from someone who has mapped the environment and has been successful with directing reconnaissance missions in the past. We would need eyes to show HQ where the infiltration team is within the tower.
[The Byakugan, for instance-- Neji pauses, considering.] For the infiltration team itself, the less people involved, the better. Abilities to possess or transform into a person or creature with access to more restricted areas would make everything easier. Speed would be vital. We'd need people capable of close range combat, should they need to defend themselves [duh], and one long range fighter for cover. Above all, we'd need people capable of taking orders and not breaking team. --if we're talking ideals, then I'll add in a medic. The infiltration team would first work with mapping what parts of the facilities they can reach without much incident over the course of days. Instead of one large raid, it'd be a series of smaller, simpler ones and the teams could change depending on what is or isn't found.
[Yes, yes, easier said than done. So. Onto the current reality:]
We do at least have Mosley as a link into CERES.
no subject
I'm pretty sure we've got enough magic-users that somebody can figure out telepathy. [He wonders if Merlin can, for instance. Maybe that's something to ask.] The rest of it might be a little harder to find. How many shapeshifters do you know? [This is a very serious question.] Those are all great traits but the thing about it is finding people who have those traits in this colony. CERES likes to send useful people out of here. [Korra. The seraphs. He's got a whole list of names who could have been useful for this upcoming fight.]
I can agree with you on the fact that we would need days, but it's getting in and out or getting in and staying in without being detected that'll be our other hang-up, too.
[Interesting point, that.] You think Mosley will do what we need him to do in this case?
no subject
There was also now Temari, another jonin. Other, better-known comrades from his own village.
Hey, Neji did say at least one other. However.] I think we can make use of Mosley without letting him in on our plan.
[It was never difficult for Neji to talk mission prep, but knowing so little of how the technology of this world worked-- it's frustrating him, the idea that he might be so off-base with what he's about to suggest.] He'll let people into his office, won't he? It's a matter of planting a camera. [Too simple? It sounds too simple. Where the hell is an Aburame and their weird-ass bugs when you need them? Belling the cat? Been there, done that?] Then we'll know both his mannerisms when we're not pestering him and whatever information is delivered to him. Even if we can't make use of the latter, learning about Mosley himself would help if impersonation will ever be the key to get what we need.
--should it fail, we'd need a scapegoat. We do have a willing contact with Mosley and cannot afford to lose it yet.
no subject
I feel like he'd be a little smarter than just letting us plant a hidden camera in his office. Besides, there's also the fact that he's probably gotta go somewhere that isn't his office at the end of the day. We'd have to tail him. [This is so weird to talk about considering his own conversations with Mosley, but he's good at getting information from both sides.] ...we'd need a fall-guy who wasn't too close to the situation. Somebody we could afford bailing and send somebody in. In that case we should find out how many people know Mosley, too, and pick somebody from that pool.
no subject
He's also acknowledging his idea had been simple, but hell-] It'd be a start.
[An easier one to throwing someone straight into tracking blind. He'd think.]
Or we could find somebody to volunteer to get to know the man, fully aware of what they'll be getting into from the start. ['Fully aware' not meaning a damn thing.] How many people do you know that fit the requirement? [Not that probing of a question- Neji meant it more as a lazy observation. So he'd been proved wrong; the boy did know how to navigate theories, at least. Would stand to reason that he'd know more people than the antisocial him.]
no subject
You'd be surprised. Some of us have already had conversations with the guy and if you know how to really talk to him he's not too hard to handle. We find somebody totally personable who knows how to handle all personality types and we keep a close eye on them so they don't end up in a bad situation, we've got our plan. By the time they build enough of a relationship with him to see him in person, we'd have our phase two planned out.
