//event009.EXE Always Believe in the Heart of the Cards Except When They Tell You to Kill People Welcome to CERES Research Tower’s latest event! For all you new folk queuing outside of the conference room where you were just made to sit through a lovely power point presentation, you will be asked to stay a bit longer and test out some games in their Game Testing Center. It’s a giant space located in the basement level filled to the brim with cubicles for everyone to sit in and enjoy their newest array of pop-up games. The games themselves will be in holo(gm) form and will feature suggestions from CEO’s post, including a simplified, 8-bit version of Tetris, Baseball, Soda Smash, etc. Characters can control the game through moving their fingers and tapping them against the holo(gm) screens. Surrounding the cubicles will be tables of food and more food for characters to partake in. It’s all safe this time. No mind-altering candy corn or gut-exploding Knight Burgers. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the party. For those who have been in Cerealia for a while, they should have received an invitation to the event and an offer of 1,000 credits just for participating. So come on down and bring a friend or ten! Meanwhile, CEO has a small welcome for everyone- “Good Morning and thank you all for coming! We have been expecting you. We hope you will enjoy what we’ve put together today. Ever since we got your feedback on << RAINBOW NARWHAL MELEE >>, we’ve been developing new games for all of you to enjoy. We’ve also tried to draw in some things from your worlds. We hope to hear more feedback from you in the future. In the meantime, feel free to sample our food, generously provided to us by TGICERES, a moderately-priced family restaurant located in the Shopping District."

//SCENARIOS.EXE PHASE I [ xxxx ] Music lightly wafts from the speakers as the showroom opens. Julius Vincere, CERES’ CEO, delivers the opening announcement before leaving the room. He’ll be watching through all the video cameras placed around the room, so be on your best behavior! You will be guided to one of the many cubicles where you will sit and wait for a screen to pop up with a game. Once that game is defeated, another will pop up and another and another until your character gets hungry/has to pee/is so done with this shit. PHASE II [ xxxx ] Among the game rotations is a simple 8-bit fortune telling game starring Aria, the fortune teller. Come be enchanted by her mysterious wiles as she reads your future. She will do some 8-bit arm motions before summoning a ring of cards that will float around her. Characters will be encouraged to pick a card -any card. Once one has been selected, it will turn around slowly and unveil a card from the major arcana. Aria will then give your character their fortune, and that will be that. End of game. Onto the next! PHASE III [ xxxx ] You’ve left the testing center, and the evening has passed. As you wake up to perform your normal daily tasks, a niggling urge emerges at the back of your mind. It’s faint at first, just a whisper of a suggestion that pokes at your brain like a mosquito bite. However, that bite starts to grow bigger and become infectious. As the day wears on, you find that one little suggestion escalating. The next day is even worse. It starts to dominate your every thought, making you carry out actions you never thought yourself capable of. Who is this person in the mirror? Who have you become? PHASE IV [ xxxx ] By day three, the impulse is now a full-blown addiction. It’s set into your psyche completely. You’ve become something else entirely –the embodiment of the card. You will be acting out everything without anymore resistance, and it won’t stop until the clock strikes midnight. That’s when you’ll reel back to your senses, and when it’ll all have felt like the worst dream ever. Or a nightmare really. BONUS [ whyo'clock ] Among all the games present, there is also an 8-bit version of CERESLearn. Yes, you remember the magical game that won your hearts over not too long ago. It will come complete with the same rules. You choose a subject, you choose an 8-bit teacher among the three (Astor), (Hilda), or (UN-Zippy), and you watch them as they try to erotically teach you what you want to learn. Is that an 8-bit boob or her arm? Who knows? But beware… as you may remember, these teachers house a very terrible secret. They will transform into an 8-bit giant bug that will chase around your protag as you guide them to run away with your finger, but you can also flick the bug on the holo(gm) screen to send them away for good. Those who figure out that little cheat code will immediately receive a special real-time shoulder rub as a reward from a robot that looks eerily like a carbon copy of their teacher of choice. [ Remember to apply proper warnings on threads with trigger-y or inappropriate material and do let a mod know if your thread careens off into maiming or canoodling so we can lock the log. ]

for shirasu and kagemitsu dumbs

[ These past days he's been feeling a growing need to hunt a specific person down. Kagemitsu is normally his friend of sorts, but for some reason he hasn't been able to shake the feeling to kill him. And now it's taken him over completely, making him wander around in seek of the other.

But while he's looking he isn't focusing all that much on everyone around him, and nearly walks right into a face he's sure he's seen before. ]

What're you doing just standing around for?

[ He's been occupied for much of the last few days, but having been dismissed from the latest "work", he still has the urge to once again offer himself as tribute help to whomever requests it.

When a familiar voice questions him, he does what has become instinctive. He kneels in subservience and keeps his head bowed. ]

Awaiting orders, Abe-sama. Please use me as you see fit.

[ Normally he wouldn't even have thought of it, but when Shirasu tells him to use him the bright idea is born. It's a horrible idea, in all honestly, but right now it seems just like what he's been looking for. Aside from the actual person he's been looking for, that is. ]

Alright, I've got something for you. I need you to help me kill a guy.

[ Let's be blunt and to the point, he's on a mission here. ]

[ Well, ninja are very good at two things: following orders and killing people. Shirasu's expression sharpens, intent. ]

As you wish. [ Rises, but still deferential. ] Will they be armed or capable of fighting?

[ He seems to have found just the right person to help him with this. ]

Yeah. He's got two swords. Don't underestimate him, he might not be the strongest person I've met, but he's not weak either.

[ He can't have Shirasu go die on him before Kagemitsu dies, can he? ]

Understood. [ Shirasu produces a kunai from seemingly nowhere, and then puts it away just as fast. ]

I am also armed. [ Has little bombs too. And his shortsword. All prepared. ]

Good. We just need to hunt him down. Have you seen Kagemitsu recently?

[ He's already got his sword easily available. Time to do some more looking around. ]

[ Kagemitsu Kumou. Knowing who the target is doesn't stir any feeling, other than resolve. ]

My apologies, but I have not. Do you know where he lives?

Yeah. [ Of course he does. And of course he hadn't thought about looking there, he's kind of a dumbass who was set on just looking until he found him, where ever he might be. ] This way.

[ It's a good thing Hirari found Shirasu, then! He follows along, keeping an eye out for threats. ]

Yes, Abe-sama.

[ And it's good Kagemitsu doesn't live that far away too. He would have gotten there eventually either way, but who knows when. ]

In there. You take the window, I take the door.

[ Shirasu is a ninja, he can handle getting through the window of a two story window, can't he? It's preferably to have two arms for that sort of thing.]

[ With a slight bow, Shirasu scales the wall easily, keeping out of direct sight of the window. Fitting fingers and toes into grooves and cracks in the masonry, he carefully slides the window open and waits to hear activity inside. ]

[ Kagemitsu was just trying to avoid all the weird by staying home. At the moment, he was having tea.

Poko notices that something is off first, and hisses at the window and the guest in it.

Since Kagemitsu is in the dining area and Shirasu ended up in the kitchen area, Kagemitsu can't see Shirasu. But Poko's reaction is enough to be wary, and he moves from sitting into a crouch. ]

Poko? What's wrong?

[ Dimly, he finds it strange to see Gerokichi in Kagemitsu's apartment. He can't exactly blame the Kumous if they didn't want to tell him if Chuutarou came to the city... but the detail becomes less important in face of the mission.

If his element of surprise is lost, then he'll just have to distract the pair so Hirari can strike.

As he slips inside the kitchen, Shirasu deliberately sends a piece of cutlery clattering to the floor. ]

[ That certainly makes him alert, and he gets the Kumou swords before he heads to the kitchen. ]

[ Poko has been around Hirari enough not to react when he drops by by now, and hopefully he won't notice the change in him as he opens the door without a sound. His sword isn't drawn yet, and it's easy to move around. Kagemitsu doesn't have a lot of clutter, so there's no dangers of stepping on things as he comes inside, pulling his sword as he sees Kagemitsu's back.

He isn't wasting any time now either, going for a quick attack. ]

[ (You know, even Poko can notice when something is up with someone.)

Thankfully, Kagemitsu manages to block Hirari in time, but seeing him attacking shocks him, and makes him freeze. ]

Nii-san!? What are you doing!?

[snakebait]

[ Well, now he's keeping them busy, maybe it will give Shirasu a chance. He doesn't reply though, only spins around to deal another blow. He's serious, Kagemitsu better not hesitate or it's going to be the death of him. ]

[ Shirasu darts into the fight, aiming a kunai at Kagemitsu's back, just under the ribs.

He also keeps an eye on the tanuki, in case it wants to get involved. ]

[ He might be confused as hell, but it's not going to stop him from blocking Hirari's blade again.

But that means that he doesn't see Shirasu, as his focus is on his maybe-friend.

Poko turns big, and jumps at Shirasu to shove him out of touching distance. ]

[ This time he doesn't move out of the way, only kicks at his stomach to get the wind out of him before moving his sword to try and cut him again. He leaves the tanuki to Shirasu for now. ]

[ He's familiar with Gerokichi being able to shape-shift, but the creature's size in a small space makes for a challenge. Shirasu dodges, and scores along the tanuki's leg with his kunai.

He tosses a small bomb by Kagemitsu's feet before he has to shift back to keep Gerokichi's attention. ]

i'm sorry for the delay, I have absolutely no excuse. feel free to ignore this if you want to.

[ If Kagemitsu had been taller, maybe Hirari wouldn't have reached his stomach. The air goes out of him and he rolls, landing on his knees and he's just about to return the attack, because he's pissed at Hirari now.

But then he hears Poko make a pained sound and that's enough distraction for him not to notice the bomb. ]

Poko!

[ There's a plea of stop! in his voice, both to Poko and to -- Shirasu? Why is he hurting Poko? -- not to fight, because he doesn't want Poko to get hurt. ]

[ Hirari notices the bomb, and backs off just enough in time for the bomb to go off right at his friend's feet. The blast is loud, and once it's safe to move in closer he cuts him down from behind, in case he's still alive. ]

[ The plea falls on deaf ears -- he has his instructions, he will follow without question. Shirasu shields his eyes from the small explosion, and in the confusion sinks his weapon into the tanuki's shoulder. ]
