[closed] friendship is magical
Who: Flynn Scifo
thatdamnknight, Kashuu Kiyomitsu
adornmental, Yuri Lowell
fatalstriker
When: 8/1, afternoon
Where: Yuri and Flynn's apartment
What: Lunch, good company and embarrassing stories: best way to spend an afternoon.
Warning: None for now!
[everyone has different ways they like to relax. flynn's personal favorite? sparring. nothing de-stresses like holding your own against a good opponent and giving it your all in a battle. ahh, the life of a battle maniac. today's choice of partner was just that, too: good, strong and chatty. who knew swords made for great sparring partners? ...despite how obvious that seems.
one thing that swords have over humans is stamina. even flynn, amazing in every way as he is, grows hungry after a while. that's when the idea came to invite kashuu over for lunch. a little thank you for being so great an opponent! yuri's on cooking duty today, too, so the meal will be more than worth it (he made sure to send off a quick text about the additional company so no surprises there).
as soon as they arrive, flynn motions for kashuu to go inside first. manners always and forever!!]
Please make yourself at home.

[IN HE TROTS, apparently not at all the sort of person to feel awkward in someone else's home... Probably to the surprise of approximately no one, since he's absolutely the kind of person who settles in anywhere he goes within like five seconds.
He's looking around curiously, though! Even if he's been here before to deliver 100000 cupcakes, who knows, it might have drastically changed.]
No leftover donut boxes, huh? Good work!
[Someone help them both.]
no subject
obviously, he's expecting them--he's got and apron on and he's definitely in the process of making a fairly hefty lunch. he knows how flynn eats after a spar, so it should be easy to smell the steak on the grill and the potatoes baking in the oven.]
Food should be up in a few. [he'll say with an acknowledging nod. yes hello. greetings are overrated, naturally.]
no subject
We managed to take care of a good portion of them on our own.
[they put up a brave fight against those donuts! ...and now flynn hopes he doesn't have to eat another one for a good many decades. ugh, 20+ boxes worth is way too many. when yuri pops his head out, a momentary look of displeasure comes at the lack of a proper greeting. any commentary gets immediately forgotten upon catching the scent of the most amazing and heavenly smell ever.
steak.
if he were an actual puppy, this would be when the tail wagging starts. his expression brights considerably. the best way to a man's heart (and to escape any potential lectures) is damn well through his stomach.]
Take your time.
[his smile jumps back on over at kashuu.]
Yuri's a superb cook so the food will be worth the wait.

[Kashuu, in the meantime, doesn't seem fussed by the lack of proper greeting at all. This is like 99% because he still thinks it's okay to just show up at people's houses at 2am though, SO...
He'll raise his hand in a return HEY THERE gesture, either way, folding his hands behind his back. The smell of meat on the grill is always pretty appetizing... Despite his penchant for cutesy desserts, his favorite foods are usually heavy on the protein and sodium, so he perks up a little too, even if he's not going as turbo-puppy mode as Flynn.]
It smells super good... I've tried some of the sweets Yuri's baked before and those were really tasty too, but I'll look forward to this even more!
[Full free meals: the real mvp.]
no subject
either way, yuri's going to slip back to the kitchen for a few minutes longer to finish everything up.
but when he does, he'll emerge with two plates of food that he can easily slip onto the table. he'll have to go back to the kitchen to get his own, but he doesn't seem to be in much of a rush.]
Eat up. [lunch is served, etc.]
no subject
[even if yuri forever denies it, at least his personal fanboy will tell everyone who listens about those amazing cooking skills. one day he'll convince yuri of it, too. ...maybe.
but that's not gonna happen now. the steak gets all the attention when it makes an appearance. ahhh, it looks as good as it smells. that tail would be wagging a mile a minute at this point. unlike a puppy, manners overpower the urge to dig in without a care. he smiles warmly at yuri while taking a seat.]
Thank you.
no subject
[There's a bright smile right in return, and Kashuu politely takes a seat too, waiting until after Flynn's sat down. Though, if they're going to be diving into "compliment Yuri's cooking abilities" hour...]
Right? He showed me how to make the first thing I ever baked, y'know! Like, ever! And they turned out so good that some of my comrades were like "hey, did you buy these?" and I was like "no, this super good chef taught me stuff!"
[Also he may have inadvertently signed Yuri up for a food battle against Kogitsunemaru but considering how easily distracted the entirety of swordhaus is, that probably won't happen... Probably...
Anyway, when he goes to cut his first bite, it's pretty much the daintiest possible portion ever, good lord.]
—Ahh, it's good! Really tasty!
no subject
[also known as "stop being embarrassing, both of you, because i don't really need to listen to you starting the chef yuri lowell fan club."
he'll disappear back into the kitchen for a moment to get his own food before taking a seat at the table. despite what he says and how little he wants to hear them praise him for how embarrassing it is—well, he's not mad about the compliments.
he enjoys cooking and he's glad they're enjoying it. yuri would just prefer keeping it simple and not inflating his skill level; he's no pro or anything close to it, as far as he's concerned.]
no subject
digging into the steak, if far less daintily than their current guest, reveals it to be as delicious as expected. so moist, so tender ahh... what great meaty goodness. he'll chew and swallow properly before chiming in with his own words of praise. there is no escape from the flattery, not with these two.]
Agreed. You've really outdone yourself with how tender the meat is.
[meaty perfection!]
no subject
Though now that he's giving the steak a second look, he's curious...]
How d'you even cook this kinda thing without burning it?
[Which makes him sound completely inept in the kitchen... Though that's honestly not too far off from the truth, but mostly it's because he's used to much, much thinner slices of meat being used in the meals provided in his house.]
no subject
[okay, so there's a little more to it than that, but it's still pretty simple. why are they making such a big deal ou of this?]
no subject
[see: his own formerly piss-poor cooking abilities. instead of trying to argue it more, flynn'll do something better than arguing with a brickwall: talk about said brickwall as though he isn't sitting right there. best friendship at its finest.
which is why flynn turns toward kashuu with a smile.]
Even when we were younger, he still managed to add his own touch to meals without any difficulty. It's a shame he never learned how to take a compliment as easily.
[says the one who never takes a compliment but whatever! point still stands!]
no subject
But before he can say anything, he's distracted by Flynn. OOH BOY his favorite thing ever, taking about people like they're not there even when they're sitting right there!!]
Huh, really? So it's just something he's been good at since he was little?
no subject
[he really can't take a compliment at all, it's true. at least, not from flynn. maybe a little more so from other people, but since flynn's the one instigating it, he's just in compliment shutdown mode right now.]
no subject
Maybe it was out of necessity, but it doesn't change the fact you have a natural talent for it.
[not everyone can improvise well and yuri does it far better than most. ah, back to sharing stuff about yuri time since that brings up a pleasant memory! back to smiling at kashuu he goes while ignoring the 'don't make a big deal out of it' plea.]
I recall one time when he'd made some pastries for us. A caretaker had made them before but yuri added flowers and powdered sugar and other little touches to truly make the dish his own.
[it was delicious, too! everyone loved it and flynn was so impressed by the little personal touch! he never assumed one could make a meal their own up till that moment.]
no subject
[Kashuu will always be here to point out things that no one needs to have pointed out...
And since Flynn apparently seems game for a trip down memory lane, he'll just turn his attention right to that!]
Eh, really? Y'know, I didn't even know the whole flowers on pastries thing was... like, a thing until I got here. But it's really pretty! I bet those ones looked super nice too, right?
[And tasted good, of course, but that goes without say.]
no subject
fuck this, this is so inescapable and he never wanted this. he wouldn't have offered if he knew they'd team up on him to be embarrassing as all hell.]
no subject
They really did. It looked so much like a work of art that it almost felt a shame to eat.
[but they did and it was delicious! ah, it made flynn want to try his own hand at so artfully making a meal one's own, an attempt that was good despite the fact that...
...that most of the kids started dropping like flies. oh. oh.
flynn's brows furrow a little as he goes to take another bite of the steak. that good attempt wasn't all that good, was it?]
no subject
What's with that look though, Flynn... What's with that concerning look.]
Isn't that the worst? When food's almost too pretty to eat, I mean. I see it aaall the time in sweets shops downtown and stuff, like when people use those sugar flowers or whatever. Way too nice!
[And yet he buys them all the time for his aesthetic blogging anyway.]
