Lightning flashes. Thunder booms and rain patters on the roof. It’s all about ambience here in ViViD, of course. You gotta set the mood!

Welcome to the Pleasurable Super Youthful Caring Hospital Stage, PSYCHward for short. It works, shut up. It’s a stage created for your well-being, health and happiness. Be careful, though. The first step you take in the dilapidated asylum carries you right into a puddle.

Look down, and the puddle is red.

Ah.

Of course it’s blood.

It’s only going to get even more fun from here.

Good Day. I Am The New Introducer For ViViD Levels. Mosley? Who's That?

Anyway, Please Have Fun And Remember To Be Safe. Safety Is Our First Priority At CERES.

Thank you. Enjoy.

//SCENARIOS.EXE

PHASE I

[ 4:00 ] The first room any people familiar with the ViViD song and dance routine will find is one that is...wonderfully full of body bags. Body bags everywhere -- on the floor, on the shelves, uncomfortably tossed over the back of a chair...and each body bag has a helpful tag.

Handy.

Of course, within each bag is a newcomer; they won’t be able to escape the body bags until someone else unzips them. They’re dressed in little more than hospital gowns, toe tags still attached to bare feet.

Welcome to ViViD! Enjoy your stay.

Of course, there has to be an element of surprise to it. Some body bags contain living, breathing newcomers, yes. But the others?

These contain corpses. The toe tag on them indicates a loved one or someone important to you -- or someone you hate beyond all else. You open the bag, and there is their face, achingly familiar and frozen in death...but blink and suddenly they’re the corpse of a nondescript stranger.

PHASE II

[ 6:00 ] Step out of that room and now it’s the asylum proper. Lights flicker. It’s dark, but it’s still more than clear to anyone with ears -- something’s stalking everyone in this place.

The shadow flickers on the wall, the lights go out -- you turn a corner and there it is, jumping out at you with an unearthly cackle --

A puppet.

It hangs there limply, utterly harmless.

All around the facility, these harmless puppets lurk. In lockers, behind doors, in dark halls…

But they’re all literally inanimate and harmless. Whose dumb idea was that?

PHASE III

[ 10:00 ] But slowly, the atmosphere changes. Go in deeper, and the sounds around deaden until there’s nothing left but the dark all around and the sound of your own breathing. And yet, irrevocably you know, whether as an aspect of the level or something else entirely --

Something is actually hunting you now.

It makes no noise. It can’t be seen. But it’s stalking, and it’s on the hunt.

To make matters worse, now the asylum seems to have become a proper maze, with dead ends everywhere, and practically no light to see them by.

And the only other souls you’ll see are the other people stuck in the maze -- but there’s something not quite right about them either. You can see...bits of their code, lurking under the surface of their skin, and as you watch, it’s being corrupted, bit by bit, the longer they’re in the dark.

If you look down, it’s happening to you too.
Better hurry.

There’s only one way out.

PHASE IV

[ 14:00 ] And then you step through a doorway into light.

You escaped the maze, but this is an asylum, and you’re about to see why. There are rows upon rows of cages of aliens. They cry out and reach out through the bars with webbed or clawed hands or tentacles, begging for release.

Let them out, or don’t -- the exit to Cerealia proper is right there at the end of this room, inviting and safe.

But if you do elect to let them out, the entire room suddenly goes silent.

And there, in that cage you opened, there is no longer an alien, but instead a doll. And it’s watching you. Stay any longer, and the doll with start to move, reaching -- and if it touched you, suddenly you’re the one locked away behind bars.

On the plus side, when you take the exit to Cerealia, it’ll deposit you in the Pleasure District, where massagebots will reach for you to try to drag you in for a sensual massage.

Welcome!

PENALTY

[ ??:?? ] You were caught in the maze.

It’s hard to say even now what it was that caught you, but now you’re strapped down to an operating table, and there’s a flat-faced doctor standing above you.

The restraints can’t be broken.

There’s a prick of a needle, and you fall unconscious -- and that’s probably a mercy. When you wake up, you’ll be back in the asylum somewhere, but missing a sense -- the one from your character’s application will be gone. A character who is sight will have been blinded, for instance, and a character who is touch will feel nothing. This will last until they log out of ViViD and get into Cerealia.

[ Remember to apply proper warnings on threads with sensitive or inappropriate material and do let a mod know if your thread careens off into maiming or canoodling so we can lock the log. ]

[Even though it was pretty morbid lingering in the corpse room, as Kaz had come to nickname it, he found himself a little hesitant in continuing on. Some of those body bags contained live people, which was disturbing, and he couldn't bring himself to leave while some were still trapped in those bags. Although, Kaz had learned quickly that unless you wanted a mind fuck by randomly opening bags, it was best to wait until some of them started wriggling.

Or, when you hear breathing. Having inhuman senses was a boon sometimes, and Kaz's ears pricked when he heard the rattled breathing from, ah... "mystery meat" bag. He hurried over, seeing the bag was uncomfortably close to slipping off the shelf and hastily began hauling it off]

Oof! Shit, this is heavy...

[Did this body bag contain a small elephant?! Even Kaz's inhuman strength felt it as he moved the body bag from the shelf to the floor. Shaking his arms out, he squinted suspiciously before quickly unzipping it to reveal Mystery Meat Man in all of his glory]

Oh.

[Mystery Meat Man's bara glory. His bicep looked thicker than his shoulders!]

Shit, man, you're big. [Wait, no, Kaz] I mean, uh, you okay there?

[He's a little uncomfortable that he's been hoisted off this shelf by a person he doesn't know and cannot see - a vulgar one, but to be fair, he is pretty much a small elephant - but still, he's not going to take this for granted. Jonathan knows what it means to feel the kindness of a stranger.

He appreciates this more than he can say, sure, but Mystery Meat Man is a bit taken aback when the first thing he hears is "holy fuck you're huge.".]

I could be better, but given the circumstances, I suppose that's not too shabby. Yourself? I...cannot be easy to lift.
belfire: (nervous smile)

[personal profile] belfire 2016-07-22 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
That's an understatement... if I was an ordinary guy, I would've thrown my back out hauling your ass down.

[Despite Kaz's words, his tone was friendly enough. He rocked back on his heels, satisfied that Mystery Meat Man was fine, and allowed himself to inspect the man more closely now. He really was big, it was crazy. It wasn't as if he'd never seen it before, it was just... normally, a body like that was normally seen on demons, as opposed to normal humans. Unless this guy was something supernatural?

He took a discreet sniff, but nothing demonic met his nose. Hm...]

But luckily, I'm stronger than I look. [Suspiciously so, since compared to Mystery Meat Man, Kaz looked like a stiff breeze would knock him down with his scrawny he was] Do you need anymore help? Like, uh, getting something a bit more decent than that hospital gown? It looks a bit, hm, small on you...
beatofmyblood: (g-ghhh)

[personal profile] beatofmyblood 2016-07-25 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
I'd say so!

[He hardly thinks the man in front of him is scrawny, but he's not used to being lifted by anyone other than rugby players after a big match, and...well, those guys are decidedly not scrawny. As much of a surprise as it is, it's a welcome one, but he doesn't have much time to dwell on that thought before he's prompted to look down at what he's wearing.]

...goodness gracious!

[That doesn't sound pleased, that's for certain, but his voice conveys embarrassment more than horror. He does make a move to try and tug down his robes as much as possible, though with his size it's a futile effort.. If there's one thing Victorians are concerned with more than anything else, it's decency.]

If you know any place where I could find an actual garment, then yes, I would greatly appreciate it
belfire: (er well)

[personal profile] belfire 2016-07-25 08:32 am (UTC)(link)
[Kaz coughed into his hand. "Goodness gracious"? People still said that?]

Erm. Uh, well. I'll have a quick look.

[he quickly recovered from his brief burst of mirth, though, and stood up from his crouch on the floor. He looked over the room, with its various body bags and general gloomy atmosphere. Aside from robbing the other bags for more hospital gowns to, potentially, construct something more decent if he ever got his hands on a needle and thread, the room looked bereft of any other clothing]

Hmm, doesn't seem like there's anything else to wear, I'm afraid. Or at least, in this room. Well, it's okay, right? I mean it... covers you up fine! So long as you don't bend over, or a strong breeze doesn't flip the hem...
beatofmyblood: (and i'm running out of time)

[personal profile] beatofmyblood 2016-07-27 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
[Hey, he does!]

Either way, I suppose I will just have to make do for now.

[That is to say he doesn't seem reassured by Kaz's encouragement, but he's at least trying to act nonchalant about it. He's not sure there are going to be any strong breezes, but that first one is entirely possible. What is it that girls do when they're wearing dresses? It's something like a curtsy, right? He might just have to do that if he wants to stay even remotely decent.]

I'll try to keep on my toes, for everyone's sake.
belfire: (well darn)

[personal profile] belfire 2016-07-27 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't worry about it so much. Like, it's only...

[Kaz made a vague gesture and didn't elaborate. Truthfully, he was going to ensure that his eyes stayed above waist level on this behemoth of a man, just in case he... flexed too hard and his gown ripped, or something. Cartoon logic, maybe, but in this crazy place, Kaz wouldn't even be surprised if it did happen. Wouldn't be the weirdest thing]

Whatever. Anyway, if you feel like you're ready, you up for some exploring? Unless you wanna chill in the corpse room for a bit longer; y'know, get your bearings, make sure someone hasn't stolen a kidney, that type of stuff.
