![]() A few weeks prior to December 26th, an invitation went out to all whom already reside in Cerealia. In delicate, curling script, it read: You are cordially invited by Natalia L.K. Lanvaldear to a Winter Ball to be held on the Eve of December 26th in the Gardens. Dress in your best attire and enjoy a magical evening of dance and fine cuisine. What do you mean we should fuss about worlds being destroyed? Get into the holiday spirit, you scrooge! And in regards to the new-comers: whether you have been wandering Cerealia over the course of the past few days and managed to receive one of the later waves of invitations or have simply suddenly appeared in the gardens with nothing but the (hopefully…. appropriate….) clothes on your back, welcome. The gardens have been transformed through the work of

Welcome to CEREALIA's latest intro post! This one is player-run and all the basics have been laid out for you here. Absolutely feel free to come up with your own prompts, I just attempted to set the scenery! For your convenience, I whole-heartedly welcome questions and inquiries being directed to my attention here and I'll answer them to the best of my ability! |
Jingle- Jade Curtiss | open
[Jade just happened to arrive in the gardens, wearing his standard military uniform. He enters the ballroom quickly and surveys the area. The announcer has no clue who he is, so his entrance will be announced as Major Jingle Francis, the Duke of the Dance. Jade will just offer a soft facepalm followed by a self-deprecating smile, before he tries to move on into the ground and survey the area.]
Phase II
[He'll take some wine, thank you very much. He does look over the bottle curiously before opening it, as if examining it for something. He'll tend to stray from the larger crowds, but he may make idle conversation for whoever happens to be nearby.]
Do you have any opinions about our hostess?
Phase III
[Jade does know a thing or two about ballroom dancing. He's attended his share of Malkuth social events over the years, so he does know a bit about how to act at these things; proper behavior can be a key to establishing alliances after all, and now that he's new to this world, he's in the mood to try and gather some allies.
One can find him hovering near the edge of the dance floor while the orchestra is playing, looking ready to lead whoever happens to be nearby into a dance, as long as they look formal or useful enough.]
Phase IV
[Action time! Jade Curtiss is trying to fend the monstrous creatures, or he can be running in to try to rescue your character! It seems he's pulled a spear out of seemingly nowhere, and he is fighting with that as well as what seems to be an array of attacks that resemble magic spells.]
iv.
But no.
Alas.
That would be too easy. So as a tree branch moves to grab Jade from behind, Sousei slices right through it with his sword, expression unamused. The other probably would've gotten it anyway, from how he's fighting, but even so, it was in Sousei's way.
Sup.]
no subject
My, I don't recall calling for back-up. Do you think that you can keep up? [He says that just before he stabs his spear through another tree tentacle.]
no subject
[Quite frankly. As for the rather insulting question, Sousei brushes it off with another slash of his sword, measured and precise.
These trees sure are getting a trim.]
I'm not concerned. [he can keep up, until he no longer wants to.
no subject
Oh? Then by all means, keep up the good wor. [He'll take a few steps back to let this guy handle the close-range, while he starts to prepare a fonic arte, a glowing fonic glyph forming beneath his feet.]
no subject
ii!
Miss Natalia? [A curious look, but his answer follows without hesitation.] She's wonderful! It was nice of her to throw something like this, isn't it?
no subject
Oh? I suppose that can be seen as very generous of her. It makes for an effective enough distraction from the grim circumstances of our stay here, does it not?
no subject
[And networking is always important too, of course!]
no subject
It does seem to have its uses. Have you known Natalia for long?
no subject
[Which is a lie - but he sure doesn't want to delve into the whole "we were in another hellish place before this one, but it was only for a week and she doesn't remember that, so I haven't said anything yet" thing.]
I think it's been a couple of months by now... The calendar here is a little hard to adjust to.
no subject
My, is that so? You're likely to be close friends if that so. [Considering the way Natalia is and the apparent lack of other people from their world? It does make sense.
Of course, Jade could relate to his lie if he knew of it, to an extent. He was trapped in a place for longer than a year, although it wasn't always hellish, and Natalia was only there with him for the last stretch. Either way, he's not really spilling about it.]
Ah yes... the calender. This world follows a twelve-month model, correct?
no subject
I consider her a good friend, at least! [He doesn't want to put words in Natalia's mouth though, so he'll refrain from speaking on her behalf.
As for the calendar question, that earns Jade a nod.]
Mmhm, it's twelve months with around thirty days, usually. We kept time differently where I come from.
no subject
Ah, so she isn't entirely lonely here. [He doesn't seem to be taking the idea very seriously though.
He does seem unsurprised by the information about the calender. It really is the same as Luceti...]
Yes, it's different for me as well. The time conversions may prove to be troublesome...
no subject
[She's got connecting with people down to an art!]
I think your CereVice comes with a calendar, at least. That's what I use whenever I need to know what day it is, and I just treat it like its own system without trying to convert anything. [Even if that means he misses out on his own holidays.]
(no subject)
Phase 2
I don't know her enough to form an opinion.
[ Pause. ] Are you planning to drink the whole bottle?
no subject
[he offers a serpentine smile at the question regarding the bottle.]
It's hard to say just yet. The night is still young.
[For now, he'll settle for pouring himself a glass - after pulling the cork out with precise efficiency.]
no subject
Giving the man a once over, he shrugs, deciding that it's not his business if he wants to drown himself in alcohol. After all, he does seem like he can handle them, from the way he expertly pops the cork. ]
I suppose you're right.
[ He finally picks up a glass of wine from the table. ]
no subject
There's a chance I just might be. I'm well-acquainted with social drinking, after all.
ii
While I do not know her personally, I can base some opinions on this party alone. The organization would denote that she's not unfamiliar with hosting such gatherings, but also says of how detailed and organized it is. If I were to guess, she is a leader of some sort with a large amount of respect.
[Just a few hunches here.]
no subject
Jade looks curiously towards the blue-haired boy. He seems somewhat severe, but in a different way than his own younger self. His clothing looks somewhat similar to a military uniform as well. Something to keep in mind.]
My, someone is working to be quite the detective. [He chimes that with amusement. He's not really in the school of confirming or denying anything he says. Really, it's a way of figuring out how many people are acquainted with Natalia, the sort of reputation she has in this world and how much about Auldran is known to the commoners here. That and an easy way of telling newcomers apart from those who have been here longer.]
I can't say that those aren't logical conclusions... Do you happen to be new to this world?
no subject
If you consider a couple of weeks new, then yes I am. [And well, that is pretty new.]
no subject
Ah, I see. I suppose that counts as relatively new. Have you happened to discover anything interesting so far?
[Continue?]
no subject
[.....Wait a second. Who's that making an entrance with a familiar facepalm and chuckle?]
Colonel? [Well, she expected to see him sooner or later, but, she can't help looking genuinely pleased to see him]
It's about time you showed up~!
no subject
My apologies for keeping you waiting, Anise. I hope you managed to find enough suitors to make the time pass by quickly. [Trolling pleasantries are the way to start; she doesn't seem to be hurt, after all. He'll poke at more of the specifics regarding her stay later.]
