![]() A few weeks prior to December 26th, an invitation went out to all whom already reside in Cerealia. In delicate, curling script, it read: You are cordially invited by Natalia L.K. Lanvaldear to a Winter Ball to be held on the Eve of December 26th in the Gardens. Dress in your best attire and enjoy a magical evening of dance and fine cuisine. What do you mean we should fuss about worlds being destroyed? Get into the holiday spirit, you scrooge! And in regards to the new-comers: whether you have been wandering Cerealia over the course of the past few days and managed to receive one of the later waves of invitations or have simply suddenly appeared in the gardens with nothing but the (hopefully…. appropriate….) clothes on your back, welcome. The gardens have been transformed through the work of

Okay, so Astrid knew it wasn't completely appropriate, but it's not like she let Stormfly come inside! The dragon was outside waiting, and when Astrid came out to the gardens to get some fresh air, it was only seconds before her companion was at her side.
She hadn't been outside long when she heard the request for help, turning to find the male...hanging upside down from a tree?]
Stormfly? [She had definitely raised an eyebrow at his predicament, but she wasn't going to just stand there and let him hang. The dragon squawked in response, spinning around and flinging her tail spikes at the tentacles. Her aim was precises enough that the tentacle should snap with ease, and Astrid took a step forward and extended a hand to help him up.]
Do I even want to know how you got up there? [Judging by the fact that the tree is still moving, it's not a hard guess. Fortunately, Stormfly noticed too, and she's rushing forward to keep it busy while Astrid helps Tadashi.]
Are you okay?
no subject
That's a dragon.
He's already fazed and confused by the current situation, and being rescued by a dragon wasn't helping his situation any! Still, he takes the hand that's offered to him. He better get this over quickly since he has so many things to think about. ]
I'm fine. [ Tadashi laughs amiably, running a hand through his hair to fix it. It might be embarrassed already, but he at least wants to look presentable when talking to somebody. Anybody else would think the same. ]
I don't know, honestly. [ He looks back up at the tree and inches away. Better not get any closer. ] Weird tree, huh?

We should probably put some distance between ourselves and it. Just in case.
[Sure, Stormfly could light it up if need be, but she was hoping to avoid setting the whole garden on fire. Their host would probably frown on that.]
no subject
Uh, yeah-- [ His reply is hurried, mostly because he's unsure and can't help but agree to what's told to him. ] Good idea.
[ And now he looks around for a safer spot, not really entertaining the idea of going back in. ]

So sticking to the garden sounded great to her, at least until Hiccup was ready to leave.]
Follow me, there was an area up ahead that should be pretty safe. [She gestured for Tadashi to follow her as she started off, but ended up pausing again only a few steps later when she realized her dragon was still after the tree.]
Come on, Stormfly! It's okay, leave it be.
[The dragon squawked in response, and after a few more snaps at the tree, flapped her wings in frustration and finally started stomping her way to catch up.]
