![]() A few weeks prior to December 26th, an invitation went out to all whom already reside in Cerealia. In delicate, curling script, it read: You are cordially invited by Natalia L.K. Lanvaldear to a Winter Ball to be held on the Eve of December 26th in the Gardens. Dress in your best attire and enjoy a magical evening of dance and fine cuisine. What do you mean we should fuss about worlds being destroyed? Get into the holiday spirit, you scrooge! And in regards to the new-comers: whether you have been wandering Cerealia over the course of the past few days and managed to receive one of the later waves of invitations or have simply suddenly appeared in the gardens with nothing but the (hopefully…. appropriate….) clothes on your back, welcome. The gardens have been transformed through the work of

Welcome to CEREALIA's latest intro post overflow! It's a bit early but just to make sure the transition for everyone over here was captcha-free. This one is player-run and all the basics have been laid out for you here. Absolutely feel free to come up with your own prompts and post new intros! For your convenience, I whole-heartedly welcome questions and inquiries being directed to my attention here and I'll answer them to the best of my ability! |
minako
[ Indeed she is. He pauses the conversation while he lets her spin under his arm (as dictated by the dance steps) before catching her and going back to their previous positions. ]
You're quite good at this, if I may say so myself.
[ For a human, he thinks. Tsukumogami like him are much more grounded in terms of their senses, so he can respect her spatial awareness. ]
no subject
[ Mitsuru and Akihiko certainly have told her that. And maybe because of one of Pharos' passing comments... Like the number zero, but holding all sorts of potential. ]
You're pretty good.
[ She wonders if he was a professional dancer, used to beginners with two left feet. ]
no subject
Thanks. I'm still learning. [ It's just his natural awareness at work, really. ] I have not done this before.
[ He actually means going to parties, but it could be taken to refer to dancing. ]
no subject
[ re: dancing and going to parties. when you're a high school student moonlighting as an anti-shadow fighter, there's really not much room in your free time to party.
besides, she gets enough of what she assumes to be party-like behavior at escapade at least. ]
My school wasn't big on parties, but we had a cultural festival, which I think it's as close as you can get.
no subject
Then, I suppose this is an experience for us both.
[ A pause, before he continues. ]
Could I have your name?
no subject
Totally! And, ah, shouldn''t the gentleman give his name first? [ Actually Minako has no idea, she's winging this as she goes along. And maybe she's watched too many tv shows + played too many games + read a bunch of shoujo manga with Yukari– ]
no subject
Most astute of you, miss. [ He returns her chuckle with a well-meaning smile - maybe it's a good thing that he has little idea of convention, too. ] I'm Shokudaikiri Mitsutada, the spirit of Date Masamune's sword.
[ A pause, because he's talked to enough humans to know what to expect. ]
Yes, I am no human. I apologize if that makes you... ah, uncomfortable. [ Or skeptical? But he can roll with the latter, thanks Blackquill. ]

Date Masamune's sword.....
She looks at him, tilting her head to one side... he does have an eye patch and Masamune was known as the "one-eyed dragon" (she pays attention to history class, okay, considering her history teacher frequently wears a helmet to school)... It's not that she's uncomfortable, it's just a lot to take in... Like knowing the fact that a Shadow was sealed in you for 10 years... that you unknowingly brought all of Death's missing parts back together...
Minako shakes hear head and smiles back. ]
Weeeell, it's not every day you get to dance with one of Japan's most popular historical figure's swords, is it? Minako Arisato, just your ordinary high school student.
[ also fights manifestations of unwanted and repressed human emotions ]
no subject
Nice to meet you, Minako. Can I call you Minako-chan?
[ Hey, he has basis for this - he's a lot older than her! ]
If you don't want me to, that's fine too. I'd thought to ask first.
no subject
[ He does look older, and the people who do call her Minako-chan are often Fuuka, Rio, and well, Bunkichi and Mitsuko from the bookstore. ]
I don't get called that often, now that I think about it.
no subject
Or maybe he's just too old. ]
Well, I think it's fitting for someone like you. [ She is cute... at least, he thinks she is, since he hasn't really seen a lot of human women before. ]
no subject
his comment gets a laugh out of her, light-hearted and free ]
Do you say that to every girl you dance with, Mitsutada-san?
no subject
[ well that's only because you've only danced with two girls ]
I haven't been around humans all that often, so I'm not sure how to express it. [ Words are hard, okay. ] It's like, a general impression, you know?
no subject
[ He hasn't made a blunder so far; Minako's hopeful. ]
And the fact that you're older than everyone I know?
no subject
Well, I suppose you could say that. I'd be about a millennium old in fifty more years. [ He's counting the three centuries he spent in half-stasis, because apparently old age implies wisdom for humans. ] More time to catch up to everything, eh?
[ There's another spin coming up, and he pauses here to let her move. ]
no subject
I have never done that before. [ but it was fun. it's so different from the dancing at club escapade. ] And yeah, that definitely sounds like more time.
no subject
That's very nicely done. [ Even if she's a little shaky, they still managed to pull it off. And back to the conversation: ] Are you surprised?
[ A millennium is only long if you spend all of it awake - and about four centuries of his time was spent in storage, with a further three in limbo between life and death. So he isn't as experienced as he would have been. ]
