[He figured there would need to be physical contact, so Ruby grabbing his wrist doesn't take IV by surprise; it's the blinking speed that does. In fact, he's more caught up in taking in how fast they got here that he doesn't pay much mind to Ruby's tumble.]

We're already here . . .

[A beat later, IV throws a hasty glance over his shoulder. Even the apparitions have yet to catch up to them.]

[undaunts]

Up the stairs, let's go, come on!

[She just ushers him up them while their apparitions are trying to catch up, because now's the time to escape them if ever there was.

go go go!!!]

[rebelia]

[Taken by surprise, IV is pushed up the stairs. After the first few, he skips a step and continues at his own quick pace. He's glad to be leaving.]

I'm going!

[He exits first, emptying out into the hallway and moving to close the door behind Ruby.]

[undaunts]

[Phew...... They shut the door, and after a moment, Ruby blinks.]

I...don't think they're following us anymore.

[???]

That's good!

[rebelia]

So they're confined to that corridor . . .

[Finally, some good news.]

That was faster than I'd thought it would be. Not bad.

[undaunts]

Eheheh... Thanks!

[Don't sound so pleased with yourself, Ruby... though the praise is admittedly nice.]

Anyway, you should be careful not to end up down there again, okay, IV?

[rebelia]

I could say the same for you . . . Although it's probably not as much of a problem for you as it would be for me, is it?

[undaunts]

Well... it was pretty creepy down there. But I've never murdered anyone, so it was obviously telling lies!

So... I decided not to listen to it!

[rebelia]

You would do that.

[Ruby strikes him as so simple – and not in the bad way.]

It didn't even bother you?

[undaunts]

[She shrugs a little, frowning as she crosses her arms.]

I mean, it was really gruesome, but... we're not guilty, IV. We didn't do anything wrong.

[rebelia]

[IV scowls.]

"We"? You're assuming things. It's true that I'm not a murderer, but I've done my share of wrongs in the past. If he'd just talked about that . . .

[Then he really would have lost it back in the basement.]

[undaunts]

But he didn't.

[She smiles a little at IV then, shaking her head.]

Maybe you did other things in the past, but that's not what he was saying. He was trying to call you a murderer, and you're not!

So you don't have to listen to him. He's wrong. [and then more brightly--] Don't overthink it, okay?

[rebelia]

[How can he not overthink it? IV turns away with a near pout. Let's just change the subject.]

What do you think we're supposed to do now?

[undaunts]

[.... Yeah she just shrugs.]

I dunno! I guess we should keep wandering until we find the boss battle or a way out of here. Are you up for it?

[rebelia]

[How quickly Ruby moves on is a blessing, here. Though IV becomes a tad defensive.]

Of course I am. Playing ViViD is my job.

[As if to emphasize, he starts heading in one direction. Given that they've emptied into another hallway, there are only two choices.]

Let's go.

[undaunts]

[She trots after him quickly enough, looking curious.]

I was wondering what sort of job someone like you would do!

[rebelia]

[He nods, though curiosity takes hold and he looks over his shoulder at her.]

What did you think I do?

[undaunts]

I had nooooo idea! I couldn't really see you doing anything work-related!

[flattering]

[rebelia]

[Very.]

. . . Was that an insult? Or is that supposed to be some sort of objective observation?
