[It's not a species or a race, no, but that is who and what he considers himself as. That, and he's not too keen on revealing the whole Septentrione thing to just anyone, even if they are intriguing.]

[Ah, well. There's an amused light in Naoki's eyes-- a private kind, because he thinks about his own answer to that question. Because he's gotten asked quite a few times what he is and yet the answer should always be...]

It is a pleasure to meet you, Naoki. ...I only wish we had gotten acquainted with each other before my appendages did. My apologies for that.

You know, it didn't lead to a fight, so don't worry about it.

[Though he would opt out of further acquaintanceship with his appendages.] 'Sides, doesn't seem nice to blame someone for something this place is doing to 'em.

It is still somewhat troubling to have it happen in the first place. ...Suffice it to say, I am averse to the idea of my data being tampered with.

[He's not human, so the injected substance shouldn't have affected him at all, yet it did, and the loss of control is really the more concerning part, however temporary.]

It happens a bit too often here.

[Punctuated by Naoki shaking his head. It's not like he's been here a year or something, but after almost four months, he's found out they can be messed with as easily as that.]

Sometimes it's just that things change around us and get dangerous, but other times... We'll get yanked into ViViD, like now, or we'll act differently like you did there.

Do you know how they accomplish such things? Is any mechanism involved?

I couldn't tell you for sure. To them, we may just be 'code', so it could be as easy as that to modify it.

[Naoki scrunches his nose up slightly.]

Even so, existential data is not easy to modify, nor are humans well-equipped to do so.

[They sure got involved in all sorts of code shenanigans back home, and it was not easy, since they needed a bunch of things.

...He's not even sure if CERES is only humans, anyway. There were androids, and humanoid employees who were mostly human in appearance, but he hasn't been able to get a good feel for them to tell the corporate makeup.]

...But CERES may not be comprised entirely of humans in the first place.

Yeah... Or, at least, not the kind of humans that we're familiar with.

[And who knows the limits of their capabilities. Naoki doesn't particularly like thinking about himself as code, but it's growing more and more unavoidable.]
