What, really? [Korra looks startled at that, dropping her hands back to her sides.] I was gonna suggest checking the lower levels for an exit, but... you probably have more experience with these things.

[There's a pause.] What do you mean by "log in and out"?

[souredsweet]

Well, you may be right in the end. They do change things around at times. [But Kaoru's also been stuck here for what feels like a hundred years, and generally follows that experience first.]

Oh—! My apologies. [As a fellow ye olde, Kaoru knows what it's like to hear Confusing Terms and not have any idea what technological nonsense it's referring to.]

It's a term that they use here to describe entering and exiting this world. You see, nothing here is real. This is "Vivid", and it's what they call virtual reality. It's entirely created by technology.

I remember doing that when they dropped me in the battle version. [A rueful smile's sent Kaoru's way.] Sorry. Guess this whole place is going to take some getting used to.

Let's try the upper floors first.

[Off she goes, leading them down the hall in hopes of finding the stairs.]

[A reassuring smile is given in return, though it's a little pale.]

It's fine. It took me quite a while to get used to it myself, since we have nothing remotely like this where I come from.

[But!! Following along after Korra. Eventually they'll probably get to either a set of elevators or a stairwell (or both), and Kaoru will pause.]

Ah- that way, I believe.

[Elevators! That's convenient. The doors slide open when Korra pushes the button, and she steps in with a dubious glance around until the floor buttons catch her attention.]

Huh. I guess there aren't that many floors to this place. Feels bigger, though.

[Probably what happens when you're stuck wandering around without a map.]

[Kaoru steps in after her, eying the button panel.]

Ah, you're right... That makes things a little easier for us, at least.

[Unless there are some weird bullshit HIDDEN LEVELS or something, which Kaoru honestly wouldn't put past CERES.]

To the top, then?

[Korra pushes the top-most button obligingly. A second later, the elevator doors slide closed, and Korra can feel them moving toward the upper levels.]

Up we go. How long have you been in the colony, anyway?

[souredsweet]

[After the doors close, Kaoru sticks somewhat close to them, just in case some weird elevator nonsense happens. The ride seems smooth so far, at least!]

For myself, it's been well over half of a year by now, unfortunately. I was among the first to arrive.

[And it's been a Struggle™ since the very beginning.]
