[The slash goes wide as he moves, but she is shifting again already, seeking to swipe at him again. She isn't focused on what he is doing, but only on getting what she wants. It isn't something which she has been expecting, which is why there is a howl as she jumps back, growling again, deeply, menacingly, at the shock that she has received. Annoyed now, she starts to circle again.]

[It's just the kind of opportunity he's been waiting for. His back may still sting from the slash, and it slows him a little, but he quickly reaches along the ground for his spear and grabs it. He then stands up, ready to face the monster with the spear in one hand and taser in the other.]

Back! Back, I say! Back! [He has zero experience with actually wielding the spear, though.]

[Words. She registers them as words, but they are only noise. Chatter. Gibberish.

Actions she understands. The act of picking up his other weapon. Pointy. Sharp. Harmful.

Yet not a part of him.

There is still that cunning glint in her eyes, contemplating as a half step is taken toward him, muscles bunched, waiting to read his next response before she acts again.]

[He breathes heavily and with fear as he faces her down. A half-step forward... that makes Phoenix panic.

Quickly, he tries to rush her and clumsily tries to stab at the beast with his spear.]

[Those subtle little motions are caught, and when he does sudden move toward her, she is slipping to the right. A clawed hand comes out again, seeking to swipe at his leg, to immobilize him and bring him down. The frenzy is growing stronger, the need and desire and want, making her bolder, more careless, less attentive.]

[He shouts as she swipes at his leg. He falls over, but he tries to stab at her with the spear as he falls.]
