Who: Jaune Arc, Akashi Kaoru, Sannomiya Shiho
When: After the people on the tour return
Where: Hospital
What: Shiho is upset that Jaune (fought a dragon and) got hurt. Kaoru suggests they visit.

Kaoru noticed when Shiho became upset (being friends with someone for so long made it obvious to you when this happened) and, because they tell each other everything, Shiho had confessed everything that was bothering her after Kaoru asked if she was all right.

Well, 'confessed' was probably not the right word for it. It was really more like, 'ranted about'. When Shiho told her Jaune had gotten hurt (fighting a dragon, holy crap), she had suggested they go visit.

They made a stop to pick up some flowers and chocolates. Kaoru still briefly considered bringing Jaune some reading material (and she didn't even mean porn magazines. She was too old to be pulling that sort of stuff) to help pass the time, but she didn't know what he liked.

Jaune's days in the hospital room are mostly spend in boredom, because for all his social awkwardness he still liked to be out and about. The only saving grace about his current condition is that he doesn't have to spend it alone in his apartment, where the absence of Pyrrha feels more noticeable than ever.

When they enter his room, they'll likely find him watching some valley girls teen drama on the small television. He appears to be way too invested in a show he swears he's never seen before, so much that he fails to notice any visitors at first. It's not like anyone came to see him yet, so he's not really expecting anyone! ]

Aw, c'mon! Does she have to spell it out for you?! Just hook up already!

[Shiho had been willing to confess that she was upset to Kaoru because they had been friends for years and she always felt most comfortable telling her things that she would never tell anyone else.

Like Jaune, for one.

Because as far as Shiho was concerned right at this moment, she wasn't upset that her ~~friend~~ subordinate had gone and fought a dragon. And the closer they got to his room, the more she insisted that she wasn't really upset, per se. And also look at the time? He might be asleep!]

Kaoru-chan...

[And then of course, the moment they get to his room he really isn't asleep.]

[WHEN SHE WAS TEN SHE WOULD TOTALLY HAVE BROUGHT HIM SOME. IT'S FINE ALL GUYS READ THIS STUFF.

Kaoru knows Shiho and she knows all the protests are just for show so she nods amiably but still walks purposefully towards their goal. She doesn't even drag Shiho because she knows Shiho only needs an excuse to go and Kaoru is find with being that excuse.]

Jaune! [Oh, hey, isn't that...] You're watching that too? Man, if I'd known I wouldn't have needed to set the machine to record it. [She's carrying a bouquet of flowers. It's made up of white lilies and white chrysanthemums (which had been Shiho's idea) with bright pink daisies (which had been Kaoru's idea).

Wha-- no! I-I'm just-- I was flicking through the channels!! [ How embarrassing! He grabs the remote and throws it at the tv, but completely misses and just hits a wall. .... He improvised, ok. ]

G-Guys, what are you doing here? [ He sees the flowers but he shouldn't really assume they're for him. ]

[The florist who had put the bouquet together had been extremely confused, what with the combination of flowers traditionally for a funeral (Shiho's selections) and the bright daisies (Kaoru's hurried selection).

Jaune seemed to be energetic and alive (thank goodness, she thinks, briefly). But still, she wanted to know this for sure so she steps forward with the chocolates that Kaoru insisted they buy.]

Seeing if you were still alive, of course.

[Her nonchalance is ruined by the fact that she can't hide the relief at seeing that he's okay. No one give her a mirror though.]

Well, since you're just flicking through channels is it okay if we leave it on this one? I need to know if he's finally going to get a clue and I don't want to wait till we get home.

[She holds out the flowers though she thinks they may be too heavy for him if his hands are hurt.]

We brought you flowers and chocolate! [She's looking around.] Is there a vase or something where we can put these?

H-hahah, c'mon, really....... w-wait, really?

[ GIRLS BROUGHT HIM CHOCOLATE AND FLOWERS??!?!

and they want to watch this valley girls teen drama that HE SWEARS HE'S NEVER SEEN BEFORE. If only he could get injured more often, he thinks. ]

And of course I'm alive! Jaune Arc will never die! W-Well. No, wait, I think I'm allergic to red sap..... I-I mean, you guys! You really didn't have to!

[ Forget the vase, he'll just grab those flowers and hold on to them forever before they change their minds. His arms may be bandaged and hurting, but he's fine with carrying anything that's lighter than his sword and shield. They may also notice his bandaged forehead, but that's an embarrassing injury he would rather not talk about. Something involving dropping his Cerevice on his head as he was trying to use it while lying in bed. The nurse said the bandage will make the boo-boo go away. :(

Then he looks at Shiho and her chocolate gift... and the look of relief in her face that she has no idea about. ] .....Are you okay?

What? Of course I'm okay!

[She almost holds the chocolate like a shield before she notices and stops.

Even at their worst (from age 5-10) they would never have jokingly brought an injured person chocolate and flowers. Sure the chocolate would have been half-eaten and the flowers would have been picked from the hospital flower beds, but they would have been given sincerely.]

You probably shouldn't go around touching that red sap stuff though.

[Shiho sets the chocolates on the bed before moving to take the flowers from him, half to find a vase for them (she knew they'd live much longer that way) and partly as a distraction so she can touch his arm with her hand.]

...Here, give me those. You shouldn't hold onto them like that.

[If he wanted to watch dramas with them all he needs to do is ask! There is no need to get injured! (Don't go expecting flowers and chocolates all the time though).

She lets him take the flowers because...well. Mostly she's a little surprised? Who knew Jaune felt so strongly about flowers?

At least that leaves her free to go search for a vase! Is there one inside this small cupboard, she wonders.]

So, I missed the beginning of the episode! Do you know what's happened so far? [She looked over her shoulder and grinned.] I mean, I know you were just channel surfing, but you must have seen some of it, right?

[Yeah. She doesn't really buy the channel surfing thing, sorry.]

[ The distraction is a success, with Jaune completely not noticing the contact between them. Not that he would know it's a huge deal anyway. ] Heheh, I knew you were worried about me, Shiho!

[ Then to Kaoru: ] W-well, based on the five seconds that I managed to see, I think Stacy wanted Johnny to take her out for prom, but he can't tell that she likes him more than a friend. It's driving me crazy!

I'm not worried!

[Once she figures out that he hurt his arms, she immediately takes the flowers, pulling the chocolate box over to him instead.]

I just don't want you to hurt your arms holding these.

[That...wasn't worry, right?

ANYWAY. She holds the flowers close before turning away and to the TV.]

I doubt it's going to happen. We're not even close to the end of this season yet, right?

You were totally worried though.

[She hadn't pointed it out before, but now it's okay to bring it up. Obviously.

Ah-ha! She found the vase! She holds it up with a triumphant sound.] We can put the flowers in this! [The nurse who comes in later will probably give this bouquet of flowers that look like they belong in a funeral with pink daisies a weird look.]

Ugh. He still hasn't figured it out? Even if we're not close to the end of the season he's being too thick, isn't he? I mean, it's so obvious! She even hugged him that one time!

[ It doesn't take long for Jaune to open those chocolates, and when Kaoru holds up the vase triumphantly he raises his fist in victory too. We did it, team! He also nods at Kaoru's assessment of Shiho, yup... ]

Wait-- [ He chokes a little on his chocolate before continuing. ] Was that supposed to be romantic, too?! Man, I've only ever been hugged by my sisters, and this dense idiot doesn't even know how good he's got it!

[ Oops, they're definitely getting into this show now. He's even offering the sweets to the both of them. ]

I wasn't and you [JAUNE], just keep eating your chocolate and stop nodding.

[Shiho will never be able to understand how these two can get so excited about finding a vase. But even then, the look in her eyes is fond for all of two seconds before she shakes her head at them. She steps forward to place the flowers into the vase, giving them a little fluff and adjusting the flowers here and there before stepping away and giving Kaoru space.]

They should have just had her kiss him or something. But then again, Kyle will probably get there just in time to get in the way.

[Okay, okay. The vase with all the flowers goes to the side table.

They'll need water, huh. She'll get it during the commercial break.]

Yeah! There's nothing you can mistake about a kiss-- [...except the one she shared with Minamoto, BUT THAT ONE DOESN'T COUNT. She blushes a little and crosses her arms as she pulls a chair over to sit on it.] A-anyway! What's Kyle's problem! I mean, I get that he likes her but you have to be a serious ass to get in the way of true love!

[Someone else might find it strange to accept chocolates in this situation since they bought it for Jaune, but Kaoru just casually plucks one from the box and pops it in her mouth.]

[ Jaune has been that guy before, being hopelessly infatuated with a girl who likes another much cooler guy, but he's also the oblivious guy who has a friend in love with him and he doesn't even realise it. He does agree, ultimately, that Kyle is a jerk for not respecting the girl's feelings, recalling his own mistakes. ]

Stacy doesn't deserve either of these idiots! --Wait...

[ He leans a little closer to Shiho and lowers his voice. ] ...uh, has Kaoru already kissed someone before?

Which just opens up the way for more rivals, right?

[She only suspected, but Kaoru won't say and Shiho won't (and to some degree can't) figure it out with psychometry.

There's also no mistaking about the way she blushes and gets all defensive though. Shiho lowers her voice only a little, leaning in with an exaggerated stage whisper.]

I bet she has. But she just won't tell!

[They should hold her phone hostage until she breaks and tells them everything. Or they could resolve this peacefully by just asking her, but that would be boring.]

Ugh. We don't need any more rivals in this story!

[SHE CAN HEAR YOU!]

There's nothing to talk about! [That's a lie, but still!] It's nothing like what you're thinking! [She's blushing so much her face is going to start matching her hair soon.]

C'mon, tell us! What was it like!?

[ He gently whacks Kaoru in the face with his pillow. There was barely any force behind it, but maybe it can distract her enough for Shiho to go through with her idea of kidnapping the other girl's phone. ]

Yeah, tell us, Kaoru-chan~ Then we can tell you if it's anything like what we're thinking.

[Shiho's not too sure taking a phone off of someone that could just take it back with psychokinesis is really that helpful...(nor is getting into a pillow fight with that same person) so she'll just stick with the teasing. For now.]

If you can't, then at least show us a picture of the lucky guy.

[If Kaoru had immediately reached for her phone like she had something to hide...she'd go for the phone immediately.]

[You're both the worst. The. Worst! And she would have told you if the pillow to her face didn't interrupt her. She swats the pillow away with her hands with an indignant 'hey!'. You're so lucky, Jaune, that there isn't anything for her to throw at you besides the flowers. You already know about the existence of her powers. She doesn't need to bother hiding them from you!

Kaoru did start reaching for her phone (not her Cerevice but the thing she and Shiho had played ViViD to get back. The one from home that had pictures of Minamoto on it).]

I-it was really nothing okay! It shouldn't even count as a kiss it was only a prank by-- [Feather. Who was technically them from the future. The realization that she had pretty much played a prank on herself was enough to leave an opening for someone to snatch her phone from her.]

What?! Someone tricked you into your first kiss?? That's... I won't stand for this!

D-Don't worry, Kaoru, it totally doesn't count if it was on accident... or something.

[ then he looks to Shiho: ] Wait, what do you mean "like what we're thinking"? ....Are you thinking about what it's like?

[Shiho's about to clamber right over Kaoru and grab for the phone which is so very subtle (but then again she knew which phone that was and whose pictures were on it) when Jaune addresses her and she freezes.]

Well. You were the one who asked what it was like-

[She's not reaching for the phone, clearly.]

It's not like I know... [She only plays around with boys' feelings, she hasn't actually kissed any of them.]

W-well, the trick wasn't being played on me, really.

[She doesn't even notice Shiho going for the phone at this point.]

And it's not that I don't want it to count [Make up your mind, Kaoru. Does it count or not!?] I-it's complicated, okay?

Well, I hope my first kiss isn't anything complicated like that...

[ HA HA....HA...... ]

I bet it won't be.

[haha ha...

Shiho grabs the phone out of Kaoru's pocket with neat fingers (a benefit of being a psychometer was that it also made you into a great scammer/pickpocket.) She's not looking through it (yet) but she ducks away as quickly as she can with a laugh.]

[Just when Kaoru is starting to think that maybe she could steer this conversation away from her unfortunate (sort of) first kiss, when Shiho ducks away with...wait. WAS THAT HER PHONE!?]

Shiho!

[Did she even have photos of any other guys on there?! (No, she doesn't.)]

Shiho!!

[ Her move surprises Jaune as well since he's not a mind reader, and when he yells out at her it almost sounds like a dad who wants the children to behave.

Except... ]

........w-what's on it?

[Shiho doesn't even have to unlock the phone to know what's on it. And she gives Kaoru a Very Surprised look.

.......this thing is just full of pictures of Minamoto...]

Kaoru-chan....you...

[There is a split second where an invisible force tugged at the phone in Shiho's hand, Kaoru's attempt at retrieving it. If Shiho, doesn't let go, though, she'll stop (because she doesn't want to accidentally hurt anyone).

Either way she's going to go bright red.]

I can explain!

Explain what, what's going on here?!

[ He didn't even get to see what's on the phone!! ]

Did everyone suddenly gain cool mind reading powers except me??

[Shiho wasn't trying to ignore Jaune, but she'd been distracted by the fact that Minamoto was going to jail. HE WAS GOING TO JAIL.

So his voice snaps her out of looking at Kaoru and brings her to the fact that maybe they shouldn't be talking about Minamoto (going to jail!!) while he was here.]

Ah, no. Not really?

[She already had cool mind reading powers to begin with. Is there a discreet way to hand the phone back to Kaoru...She looks to her for help. HELP.]

[WHY IS THIS HAPPENING? ALSO WHY ARE YOU LOOKING TO HER FOR HELP YOU WERE PART OF THE PROBLEM!

Kaoru takes a deep breath.]

Okay. Okay. What I'm about to say goes with you both to your grave, all right? You guys can't tell anyone.

....... [ what is going on here. ]

You are inside my mind, aren't you?!

I'm not. And Kaoru-chan isn't either.

[Because someone was going to jail!! She is also going to check and make sure there isn't a lolicon hanging upside down just outside of the window...]

[Kaoru facepalms.] I can't read minds, Jaune.

[She huffs.]

Anyway, you have to swear you're not going to talk about what I'm about to tell you! Not ever!

You're freaking me out, Kaoru! What is it? I-I mean, I promise I won't tell anyone...

[ For all his social incompetence, his motto is that an Arc never goes back on his word, and he has proven so in the past. ]

[Shiho's just as freaked out about all this, which is why she's kind of glad Jaune said it out loud before she had to. Still, she's not as suave or as collected about this as she seems, reflexively leaning in as she waits for a proper answer.]

I promise, too.

Okay. [Kaoru fidgets a bit.]

S-so, my first kiss was sort of the fault of [Er. She's just going to take Shiho's hand and think FEATHER at her really hard.] This person we know. She's kind of gone now. But it was a prank she was playing on the guy I kissed.

And I promised not to talk about it because he's a lot older and that's not a scandal either of us needs...but I also kind of...sort of...really like him.

[ NOT THAT MUCH OLDER JAUNE ]

[If Feather did this...didn't that mean all of them (including future!Shiho and Aoi and Yuri-chan) pranked him together...What kind of a person did she grow up to be...]

Mina- [Shiho coughs.] He's not a grandpa.

[At the same time Shiho says it, Kaoru also goes.] Minamoto's not a grandpa! He's just...older.

...but not by that much! I'm totally going to catch up to him soon! [...she means in maturity.]

[ Kaoru, that's so cute! Jaune totally understands the pursuit of a hopeless romance. Ah... ]

If he's not that much older then it's probably not a big deal, right? I think you're already mature for your age, Kaoru! [ Just being uselessly supportive here... he has no idea whether she is or isn't! ]

[...There's was a reason why she didn't say his name, Kaoru!!

The two of them are so optimistic, Shiho almost doesn't feel like bursting their bubble. Minamoto is kind of much older than they are...but Kaoru probably doesn't want her saying that so she just makes a face, reaching out for chocolate.]

[DON'T YOU DARE CALL IT HOPELESS.

She just nods though.]

Yeah. I mean. I know I still have a lot of work to do, but I'll totally catch up. Then when we're together it won't look like something that will get Minamoto arrested...

And if he does get arrested, we'll just bust him out together! Romantic-styles!

[ Jaune, you're not in a movie... ]

He won't get arrested as long as no one finds out!

[But if they do, Shiho would be the first to help with busting him out of jail. Hey, what are friends for, right?]

Yeah, let's just aim for him to not be arrested.
