[OPEN] did you miss me?
Who: Tenka aka "Dad Extraordinaire" (
sunshrouded) & ALL OF Y'ALL TBH
When: Sliiiiightly forward-dated to 2/15, so right after the Nexus Code event!
Where: assorted... Kumounji House & entertainment district mostly!
What: Guess who's back (back again), Tenka's back. Tell a friend. -- also he fulfill his dream of becoming a Sidequest Dispenser.
Rating/Warning: just your usual brand of tenka idiocy, maybe some tears, probably some punching
[a. closed to kumounji house residents ; farts back into existence]
[Tenka doesn't have a calendar in his room.
Why would he?
But what he does have, when he materializes in his futon, wearing the same robe that he went to bed with, is a vague feeling of dread. He went through a weird sequence of dreams, he thinks. Sitting through that powerpoint again and then -- after that there was a weird space where he could walk through entire buildings. Where he started to feel... intangible again. It was remniscent enough of the time that he lost his body that he felt chills.
Yet his preoccupation with himself was short. After all, Shirasu was there.
Shirasu was there and wasn't there all at once -- he was in that space, unresponsive even as Tenka yelled at him and tried to punch him. But there was no returning punch, no weary purple eyes, not even a motion of acknowledgment. He was well and truly there and.... not.
So Tenka is tired as he walks out into the living room then, settling himself at their low table and slumping over it, just as he would've three weeks ago.
His first word upon his return:]
Teeeeaaaaaaaa.
[ . . . . . well?]
[b. semi-open to adoptees & others ; emerges from the void for noogies]
[Most people just knock or ring a doorbell. Maybe knock three times in small bursts if they're feeling antsy. But here's Tenka, banging on the door instead, complete with yelling:]
Heeeeyyyyy!! Is anyone in there?! Hellooooo?
[At least it's a voice you probably haven't heard in a while.
Someone clued him in that he's been gone for 3 weeks. So he's got about 3 weeks of visits to make up for, he thinks.
(Punch him.)]
[c. OPEN ; tell me what you see ]
[If nothing else, you might've seen this guy's face around. Yet he appears to no longer be Missing and is instead sitting on a bench somewhere. He seems to be puzzling over something very, very deeply. Feel free to bug him if you know him when he's still in the middle of his work of art (which consists of nothing more than a few brush strokes).
Because otherwise he's going to sit up suddenly and thrust out the page to you. It's definitely the kanji for 'lake'. But here's time for messing with the language mechanism and/or an impromptu Rorschach test:]
What does this look like to you?
[What a quack.]
[d. OPEN ; quest master tenka, disaster in the making]
Hey, you!!
[Doesn't that sound like a promising start to a conversation....
Alas, escape is futile as Tenka completely messes up the rhythm of the closest person's day as he steps in front of them and offers them the sunniest grin. (Don't trust it.)]
You look like you've got some free time. Think you can help a guy out with something?
[Sidequest: start!]
[e. choose your own adventure, hit me with anything, i can take it! ]

Some of those will be easier than others, admittedly; Soramaru and Chuutarou are just in the room not far from them, and the others are still in the city. It won't be hard for Tenka to see them. They have the funds for the bar, and they've discussed that before.
CERES is harder, as is Shirasu--Sousei saw Shirasu in the Nexus Code too, and he's not happy about it, for undoubtedly different reasons. He has to figure that out as well.
And the rest...
It's true, Tenka didn't leave on purpose. Sousei knows this to be fact. But even so, he was gone, he left again, after everything--
(He remembers their talk, after Sousei's mind had been tweaked by this place, and he'd been too clingy, but there had been some truth to the "Please don't leave me again".)]
... I was not certain if you would reappear like Soramaru, and remember nothing.
[And it scared him, to think of being the only one to remember all of the progress they'd finally made, and all of the bridges they'd mended.]
Now it is clear you have not, but even so, I... [A vague frown.] ...need a moment.
[Because really, he's not fine at all.]

Even if Tenka came back, without his memories he'd still be leaving Sousei behind in a way.
So he shuffles again, restless as always, and moves to flop right on top of Sousei, arms around his neck in a loose hug.]
Okay.
So I'm gonna need you to do me a favor.
Take the day off of work and sleep some more. It'll give me some time to check up on the kids, but I'm probably gonna take the day off work anyway too. Then you can have your moment.
But when your moment's done, I need my partner back because I don't know where I've been for three weeks and that's bound to be uneven ground for me too, okay?
[But.... Sousei's still here. And Tenka's here now.
And as long as both of those things are true, Tenka thinks they're gonna be okay.]
no subject
Tenka's always been too touchy-feely.
But Sousei pauses at that, before nodding slowly, expression flat even as he draws in a slow, deep breath that reveals how relieved he actually is. It's too much to ask for him to be able to figure all of this out immediately; he needs a few moments to process it on his own, and he knows Tenka's right--he'll do better when he's gotten some legitimate sleep as well.
So he nods, eyes fluttering half-shut again, even as he responds with the barest hint of humor.]
You've been back for a few minutes, and you are already asking favors.
[He settles, and nods.]
...Fine.
[It's a deal.]
no subject
Tenka just pauses at that, watching Sousei's expression for a second and deciding that whatever he finds is good enough for him. With that, he nods and takes the pillow that he left discarded on Sousei's shoulder and then proceeds to
drop it on top of his face]
Now sleep.
You were gonna go to work like this? You're a mess. I thought you knew better, Sousei-kun.
[And with that, he's going to push himself off Sousei and off the couch, though admittedly he's not caring for where he places his hand so he might be putting a bit of uncomfortable pressure on another bruise completely and totally on accident.
Yeah.]
no subject
Though yeah, that hand planted on a bruised rib hurts quite a lot. Hawke packs a punch, especially because she's not restrained by petty things like "being gentlemanly", and Sousei legitimately winces, a noise of protest escaping him, before he just
grabs the pillow
rolls over
buries his face in it.
He doesn't want to talk about this either.]
no subject
And Tenka pauses next to the couch.
Pats Sousei's hair twice.]
And I'll make sure we're stocked up on pain killers. I'm the best. I know.
{But
aside from that he does go to leave and do what he said. Enjoy your moment without your crabhead, Sousei.]
no subject
HE WILL.
Though he'll actually make his way back to his room; they're not bachelor living anymore, he doesn't want to be passed out on the couch where Soramaru or Chuutarou could see......
So he'll pass out in his bed instead.
Because goodness knows he'll need another 5 days of sleep to be back up to speed again (but a few more hours will go a long way to make him feel human again, at least).]
