[ It was hard enough, waiting for the water level to go down enough so that Mary could return to where her apartment was (had been) without risk of drowning. Seto's hoodie, the jacket Hiro had given her... they were the only things she'd been able to find at the time, but now she can search for anything remaining from their apartment.

So feel free to come across a tiny teenager over the afore-mentioned days, getting drizzled on and trying to pry up pieces of the smaller rubble - and HNNNNNGHing at the bigger pieces of debris that she can't budge at all - as she hunts about. The stuffed animal she'd received from Lily is gone, the headband from Kaoru and Shiho has been twisted and bent beyond repair when she miraculously finds that... the dried flowers, from the bouquet Elza had given her... no sign of them. All of her tea...

Mary almost wants to cry, but not yet. She just keeps looking.

And don't be alarmed if she seems worn-out when you see her. It's not some weird elemental effect, she's just terrible at stamina. ]

[ He may find some dirty blankets or sheets, nothing too terribly exciting under there. ]

Naegi... san... um, I think I remember him. I don't know him that well, though.

Because I've never had this many friends before... a-and when I think about it, how they've all given me things because we're friends, and then those things are all...

[ She trails off, shifting from foot to foot. Most of what she's found hasn't been in the best of shape. It's like that flood's trampled on the feelings of her friends and it hurts. It hurts that she couldn't get all of that to safety. ]

... Don't you have friends?

[ FRIENDSHIP IS AWESOME, OKAY-- ]

[He thinks he can understand where she's coming from with this, at least, and his brow creases in sympathy.]

If they gave you such nice things, I don't think they'd want you getting upset over losing them, right?

[Nice people are usually understanding, too.]

I don't want them thinking I didn't care about them, though!

[ Most certainly not the case. ]

... Nothing happened. He slept on the princess' pillow, as before.

[ Mary. ]

But when she awoke in the morning, she found a very handsome prince asleep in the bed where the frog had been. He woke then, and told her that he had been put under a spell by a wicked fairy, who decreed that he would not return to his true form until a princess had let him share her meals and her bed for three nights. And now that the spell was broken, they could be married and live happily ever after.

[ but kanda stops moving, at least, scanning the ground to see what mary is looking for. that piece of fabric? he lifts another piece of rock off of it. ]

This thing? It's gross.

[he frowns. of course, xaldin could be wrong, right? it's not like he has a heart, though he remembered having one. ugh, so confusing.]

... That's not true. If it's true love, it never dies.

[ Blushing Schoolboy A-kun might have had a few dalliances with Best Friend C-kun, but his true love had been the man who had brought him in from the rain, Troubled Heir B-san!!!! ]

[Bleh. Well, he tried. He lifts those aside and tosses them out of the way, and moves on to what appears to be a broken table of some sort, splintered everywhere.]

He was in my class back home.

He's pretty cool . . . y'know, he's that really plain ordinary kinda guy you don't think about a lot, but then he's totally there for you when you don't expect it.

It was one of my dresses... it used to be a lot prettier.

[ No helping it now, but she's already wondering if she can clean it... ]

I don't see how any of that is strong, though. [ And why do people keep saying it so confidently, it's weird-- ]

I really don't think they'll think that! No one has control over natural disasters. ...Well, I mean— those guys did, but we don't.

[granted, the story has A LOT of flaws but flynn's not inconsiderate enough to bring them up right this moment. unlike some people, he isn't a jerk.]

Oh! Um-- [ Well, now she's just flustered. ] T-thank you... I just read it a lot.

Oh! So he's [ Shintaro ] reliable. He did seem really nice.

[ And Leon's also been really nice, and being friends with a really nice person does help her relax a bit. ]

[He nods, hardly fazed by Mary's question. Despite everything that happened to him? Yes, he's fine. Somehow.]

[ he almost feels bad for calling it gross now. almost. at least he takes off the other rocks and picks it up, dripping muddy water and all. ]
