[ It was hard enough, waiting for the water level to go down enough so that Mary could return to where her apartment was (had been) without risk of drowning. Seto's hoodie, the jacket Hiro had given her... they were the only things she'd been able to find at the time, but now she can search for anything remaining from their apartment.

So feel free to come across a tiny teenager over the afore-mentioned days, getting drizzled on and trying to pry up pieces of the smaller rubble - and HNNNNNGHing at the bigger pieces of debris that she can't budge at all - as she hunts about. The stuffed animal she'd received from Lily is gone, the headband from Kaoru and Shiho has been twisted and bent beyond repair when she miraculously finds that... the dried flowers, from the bouquet Elza had given her... no sign of them. All of her tea...

Mary almost wants to cry, but not yet. She just keeps looking.

And don't be alarmed if she seems worn-out when you see her. It's not some weird elemental effect, she's just terrible at stamina. ]

[ well. mary on her own isn't a scene both of them (that is, toothless and hiccup) can ignore. mary on her own, struggling through the remains of what remained of some of the apartments in the rain? the can't ignore levels double.

so excuse them, mary. or rather--excuse the sudden (?) lack of rain falling on her fluffy head, because as hiccup moves in to help her with a particularly large piece of debris (he's not the most amazing at this either, but his stamina has increased), toothless is taking the opportunity to outstretch the fins on his tail and place them above her.

a makeshift umbrella for the fluffball. ]

It might be faster with three.

[ especially when one of those three is a DRAGON!!

but they're here to help, and also to lift her spirits. ]

... [ When Mary glances up, hands jerking just a bit in the shock of being interrupted, she finds herself peering up even further. Because--

Yep, that sure is a dragon's tail over her head. ]

I didn't think dragons would be okay in the rain.

[ It's all she can think to say, at first. ]

hiccup pauses at that-- understandable observation, honestly. and the fact that that's mary's response just... makes him chuckle. it's a fair point to make, and he looks at toothless, who looks at the both of them and then-- makes the dragon-equivalent noise of "ehh". a series of low groans, an indication that he doesn't particularly enjoy it, but he's here anyway. ]

Ah, well, it's almost like an extended bath. Emotionally? There's a little uncertainty there. [ cat comparisons increase. ] Physically, it actually does mess with their fire-breathing a bit.

[ he can't resist dispensing dragon facts even when he's joking about toothless being whiny about the rain. ]

He'll shake off all that water eventually. Probably all over me.

I'm sorry, Toothless. [ Well, Hiccup can probably take it. But still, they're out here because of her, apparently. And he obviously isn't fond of the water. ]

[ WITH ALL OF HER PUNY STRENGTH. ]

[ ugh, they're both going to start swooning.

but on a more serious note, toothless lets out another couple of low noises, sounding almost... reassuring. it may be a fact that rain isn't the most wonderful thing in the world for him, but it's also a fact that it's not too high a price to pay for assisting mary. water, that's all it is.

so. toothless starts digging too, tail still held over her. ]

Don't worry about it. Rain happens, so you don't need to push yourself. He'd prefer it if you didn't, actually.

[ another small sound from the dragon--agreement. as hiccup pushes some debris out of the way, toothless follows suit. ]

But, uh... What're we looking for, exactly?

[ that's probably important. ]

I lost... um, almost everything in my apartment. Like my tea set... and the blankets... and...

[ She trails off, reaching out to move a smaller chunk of debris, something she can fit both of her hands around.
