[Kashuu's still got a dang surplus of energy thanks to the fire boost, so he hadn't really been intending to sit down and watch TV, but... well! Where there's Haru, of course this dumb clingy limpet will follow.]

Nope! My show isn't on for another few hours.

[It's probably an awful show... But!! Time to flop down on the couch next to Haru and leeean over so he can get a look at the book.]

What's that? A new one?

[ having loosened up a lot about physical affection with his swords, haru's ears go a little red as kashuu leans over him, but a moment later, he tucks himself into his side, turning the book so the spirit can see the cover. ]

It's just light reading. A kids' fantasy book. I found it in a secondhand place..

[ yes, he knows how you feel about secondhand stores, but it's just a book this time, kashuu.. ]

[Second-hand books are fine!! You don't wear second-hand books, okay...

But he lets himself lean against Haru, glancing over at the pages that are open but not really bothering to read anything himself.]

Is it a good book? Hey, will you read a little to me?

[Is he 500 or 5]

[ five, the answer is always five..

he glances up in surprise at the request. ]

Ah, really? [ he reads to his little siblings, too.. ah, nostalgia. ] Um.. if you really want. [ he turns back a page or two. ] Let me start at the beginning of the chapter, though..

[THIS IS NOT UNTRUE...

It seems Kashuu really is being serious, though. He doesn't have much else to do and he always enjoys spending time with Haru no matter what they're doing! He rests his cheek against Haru's head and looks down at the book again, even though he doesn't plan on reading along or anything. Do the work for him, Haru...]

Sure, sure! Start wherever you want. You got a nice voice when you read stuff out loud, y'know?

[ his ears go hot at the compliment, but he shifts to make the position more comfortable for both of them, pleased despite himself with the cozy moment. kashuu tends to be pretty affectionate, but.. haru actually likes it. ]

You always say stuff like that.. [ nice things. compliments. haru never quite knows how to respond to them.

still, he clears his throat and begins. he reads until the end of the chapter, then trails off, pausing for a few moments. carefully, he marks the book, setting it aside and then tilting his chin up, bumping his nose against kashuu's jaw. ]

Ah.. Kashuu-kun.. are you okay? [ obviously, this does not have to do with a book. ]

[It's easy to fall into a comfortable silence with Haru reading, even for captain motormouth, and that's exactly what he does. He stays tucked up nice and cozy, closing his eyes every now and then just to focus on Haru's voice or the sounds of the pages turning. Is he even really paying attention to the story? PROBABLY NOT... But he catches snippets and he gets to have a nice quiet moment, and that's good enough for him.

The question is a little surprising, then; he seems quite taken off guard by it.]

Huh? [Has he accidentally given Haru some randomass reason to worry, or is it just Haru being Haru again?? A mystery... He'll reach out with one hand to ruffle Haru's hair either way.] Mmhm! Why? Does something seem wrong?

[Not asked in an evasive way, but a genuinely curious one.]

[ it's just haru being haru tbh. he worries A Lot.

still, he makes a faux-disgruntled noise at the ruffle, smoothing his hair back down with a flustered glance. ]

No, it's not that. I just-- Souji-san is so sick right now.. [ he just wants to make sure kashuu is handling it okay. ] I mean, I know he'll be okay if I have to carry him to the doctor for medicine and check-ups myself, but.. [ but it can't be easy, especially given that they share a room. ]

[Ah, he should have guessed... Haru cares about Souji like he's one of their own now, too; it's natural he'd be worried about him, and for Kashuu. For Yamato too, he's sure - especially Yamato.

But outside of the initial shock of seeing Souji in such a state, Kashuu is trying to distance himself from that ugly reality. It's made easier thanks to the fire effect since he can't hold onto those negative feelings for long, anyway.]

What did I say about worrying yourself into grey hair? [Gently tugging some of Haru's hair for emphasis! Though apparently he has to worry more about being talked into pink hair...] He'll be fine and he's real happy to be around so many people. That's the best things can be for him right now, I think.

[ he makes a small, mock-disgruntled noise at the tug, but tilts his head into it, anyway. he catches sight of the pink out of the corner of his eye-- it's still kind of surprising when he remembers it's there. ]

It's not gray hair I have to be worried about, apparently..

[ he falls silent again for a few moments, though, peering up at kashuu again, before nodding. ] I just-- want to be certain that you and Yamato-kun are okay, too. [ kashuu usually comes to haru for comfort when he needs it, but yamato holds himself back a lot. whether it's because he doesn't think of haru as someone who can give him that comfort, or because he doesn't think himself worthy of it, he just.. doesn't know. ]

[The comment earns Haru a laugh, and Kashuu releases the hair he'd been tugging so he can smooth it back down instead. His hand lingers there, gentle; the feel of Haru's hair beneath his fingers is familiar and welcome.]

It looks good on you, y'know! Pink's way cute.

[And Haru is cute too, so it fits! But for that-- There's a pause, and he lapses into a somewhat thoughtful silence.]

It's gonna take that gloomy guy a while to adjust, but I think he'll be fine. Okita's always been real good at dealing with him, anyway. Try not to worry too much, 'kay?
