She's practically eating the offered donuts and ice cream and wondering what flavour this is while watching this war movie. It's a particularly sad scene right now with some manly talk, so she can't even sample this strange creation of a stock of donuts with ice cream on top, because she must LISTEN.

Look, it's a movie. She's going to snack.

Thankfully she's small enough to let him hog most of the couch.]

A-ah... [She's not moved. SHE'S NOT MOVED.]

[Hey, he won't be judging because he's eating beef jerky and snacking, too. Movies need snacks, ok. It's a fact of life.

When she makes a noise, he glances over at her.]

You okay there?

[Oh good, they're hive minding when it comes to movies + food. It's not right otherwise.

She didn't want to disturb him though, but she's remaining as stiff as possible to show that she's not affected by this.]

I-I'm fine. [Looking a little shifty as she looks intensely at the screen, eh.]

[Okay, now he's really staring at her. She looks like she's about to burst into tears.

But then again, even if he could be emotional right now, he wouldn't really know how. He shrugs and goes back to applying oil to the blade, watching the television screen.]

Looks like they might up going to their death after this, huh?

[She's staring at him back like no...she's...fine...

Good thing he's moving on. That makes him a great movie companion. But apparently only for war movies.]

Mmm. [That's as much of an agreement as she could say after she put a slow spoonful of ice cream into her mouth, trying to control the shakiness of her voice. Granted, she has Words because some of this is a hugely inaccurate portrayal but the power of bonds is still the same and strong!

[He sees them getting ready for their final charge, the speech winding up and the men coalescing into a true family. He eyes her again, then he slowly slides some of the cloth he was using to clean his sword over toward her.]

[Shhhh it's just dust in her eyes.]

Yes...something they can tell later, how they succeeded.

[All of this done in slow mo, dramatic zooms and just. Tears are really threatening to fall but she will make her ducts suck them up if she could.

...Except he noticed. She can't refuse that gesture and she takes the cloth.]

Thank you...I think something got into my eye. [Can't believe she actually said that.]

[If they succeed. He doesn't know if these people live or die because he has no idea if this story is real or fake, and even if he did, it's a modern-ish war so not one he knows.

Dotanuki shrugs a little and goes back to cleaning his sword.]

Sorry, probably the fumes from the oils. [that's a lie, but hey convenient lie for her]

[Considering it didn't focus on the entire war, she wouldn't be able to tell him either. That and again, there are just some bits that are wholly inaccurate! But she won't nitpick when the acting is so fine.]

N-no, it's fine, I intruded in on your space, after all. [She understood what he was intending, considering that she never had a problem. She'll take it, but at the same time she won't let him "carry the fault".]

[He swipes his cloth against the blade and checks it, looking over the edge of the blade at the television.]

It's a free space. You're allowed here just as much as we are, Sen.

[Oh goodness, she's nearly sniffing. Maybe she should focus on her dessert again, but first, she dabbing her eyes, almost laughing.]

You and your comrades are too generous, Dotanuki. I really should welcome you all into my apartment more often, it looks like a beach resort. Although you might get lazy.

[SUDDEN EXPLOSION and people are dying. She's not upset, of course she's not...]

[Whoa explosions. Never mind his sword for a bit, he's going to sit back and watch this part. Everyone's fighting and people are dying, but they're still forging forward, charging the enemy.]

Might. I don't know what a beach resort is.

[They're so strong! Some of them crying out for each other, others charging. this is too emotional!

Talking shit about beach resorts will help her.]

You haven't been? Ah, perhaps one day I will take you to the pool here, it has more facilities. Mine is just pretending to look like a beach resort, with a balcony that looks out towards a pretend seaside.

[She's just clutching onto her spoon too.]

[Pool? Beaches? Yeeeah....

He looks over at her for a moment, then at his sword.]

Think I've seen enough water for awhile.

[WHOA that was a huge explosion on the screen. His attention is drawn back to it and he swallows the bit of jerky in his mouth.]

[...Oh, now he mentions it.]

You're right. I mean, it looks different, but I probably should change it up a bit.

[A drier look, for now.

Because she was contemplating, she ended up jumping in her seat when the explosion happened, and had to steady her bowl.]

[The soldiers are huddled up against a building, waiting out the enemy fire and yelling back and forth at each other. The final charge, the number of people still alive have dwindled, but the main heroes are still there. They're still trying hard to win this fight.]

Don't have to. I'm just not big on water.

[She has a feeling most of them are Going to Die. Which is why she's tensing up.]

More of a land sword? [Unlike Mutsu.]

[It is entirely likely.]

War wasn't on the sea when I was active.

[He reaches for a new piece of beef jerky, sticking it in his mouth, as he goes back to cleaning. The movie's chaotic conclusion tumbles onward, side characters getting shot and falling as they continue the charge up the hill. The one bright ray of hope is that the enemy is also dwindling.]

[Goodbye...characters...]

I see, that does make sense. Swords on seas isn't the kind of warfare we were really involved in either. [That being Asia.

There seems to be an epic sunrise happening too, whoa.]

[The two main characters are the only ones left and they crest the hill just as the sunrise hits. They run into the last of the enemy and overwhelm them, but one of them takes a mortal wound for their buddy before the battle ends.]

What kind of warfare happened in your area? The ones I fought were mainly two or three armies, swords on flat battlefields, and the Battle of Hakata Bay. Sounds like water, but I was mainly used on land.

[Oh no she's about to tear up again as the music stops swelling, being eerily silent as death happens.]

A-ah...we had that a long time ago too. [When she was living with China.] In modern day, it became less about the front lines and more about ambushes and skirmishes. Stealth became more key.

[He's just chewing the beef jerky, watching as the main hero holds his friend as he dies. They're exchanging final words now, talking about how they accomplished their mission.]

I suck at stealth. Glad I was kept on the old-fashioned battlefield.

[Ah, this is too sad. She's just staring at her food too now. How did that ice cream keep, seriously.

At least the scene is peaceful.]

Yes, I think now you would be assigned to much more aggressive tasks. Teamwork and specialties are still important.

He watches for a bit longer, then the music starts up again as the film ends.]

Open fields and smashing into the enemy. Not really anything special except that I'm harder to break than the others.

[With the credits rolling, he goes back to cleaning his sword.]

[Donut how did you find this.

She's doing that very discreet while the credits started to roll...]

Some of that still works, but it depends on how. It's not as straightforward anymore. That being said, with your body, I think they would be able to let you do whatever you want more often.

[She can now actually finish eating?!] Do you want to watch something else?
