Ooh, will you?! That'd be super nice. Next time we have a big meal that you cook, is it okay if I invite some other people over, too? [Or just one... SOUSEI. He promised!!] And I'd really like a lunch someday. I miss your bentos! The food downtown is super fancy and all but it isn't the same.
[They don't cut his vegetables into flower shapes...]

[ Not that it's really a question, though. Kasen is used to cooking for the entire Citadel, so he also tends to make way too much... It works out well though, all things considered, since it does mean more food. ]
And of course I'll make you a bento, Kashuu-kun. I'll make it extra cute just for you.
[ Since Kasen is enough of a mom to know that's more what Kashuu cares about than the actual food... ]

He also basically sparkles with delight to hear that, too. KASEN, HIS FAVORITE MEMBER OF TEAM MOM.]
Thanks! All of my coworkers are gonna be way jealous. No one else has nice lunches like that and some of 'em don't even eat lunch at all, y'know? [LAME.]

[ Most people would probably use the word "friends" there, but it's not really a word Kasen uses much in general. It's a bit odd, but he never means it maliciously. It's more a remnant of his military-minded master than being a jerk intentionally.
It's shown by how he doesn't really linger on that at all, but Kasen just laughs gently as he thinks about how he might make a bento for Kashuu. ]
Ah, good! Not that I should encourage inspiring jealousy, I suppose... But still, I'd take quite a bit of pride in it all the same.
no subject
Mmhm! [He's had a lot of time to make friends, after all...]
A-ny-way! A little jealousy isn't gonna hurt 'em. Maybe they'll actually try making their own stuff, even! Ah, but then I'd have competition.
[And that's NO BUENO... Actually, he still sounds like he's joking, but Kasen probably knows that he isn't really. He wants to be the best like no one ever was, even if it's just by bringing cuteass lunches to work when everyone else is eating out of takeout containers.]

Dear me, and we could not have that! Though don't brag about your lunches and make me work too hard, Kashuu-kun! Creating lunches at the peak of elegance and cuteness can be time-consuming... I imagine Haru-dono might be upset if I spent hours working on your lunches.
[ But Kasen doesn't seem to mind. He'd definitely enjoy that. ]
Mm, I must set an hour's limit for the arrangement.
no subject
But Kashuu doesn't seem any problem with this either, nor does he say something like "gee Kasen even an hour is kind of a long time to be working on one bento." OF COURSE HE DOESN'T. The more time Kasen spends on it, the prettier it'll look, after all... He can't just give that up??]
An hour is o-kay! You work real fast so I bet you can make something way adorable even if you only had like, half that time, y'know?
[SO PLEASE MAKE THE CUTEST BENTOS Kashuu has plenty of compliments that he's read and willing to give out. He's prepared for this moment...
Anyway, after popping another carrot into his mouth, he leans a little closer to the stove.]
Has it been a couple hours yet? [It's been like five minutes?!]
no subject
It's a totally reasonable amount of time, or at least that's what Kasen would say. After all, when he put effort in it to make it especially cute, it would be almost too cute to eat. Almost. Because it's still Kasen's cooking, so not eating it is slightly more sad than not. So at the very least, Kashuu will be winning cute lunch contests for sure.
Though as Kashuu leans closer, Kasen's content, happy smile turns to a mild frown. ]
...It has been five minutes, Kashuu-kun.
[ is he going to have to deal with this for a few hours... he doesn't have enough carrots for that ]
no subject
Seriously?! It feels like it's been at least thirty minutes or something!
[Is he even joking, it's hard to tell...]
I guess I can take a nap or something.
no subject
You could! But I may just forget to wake you, you know... That would be a tragedy.
no subject
You wouldn't! You totally wouldn't!
[How could Kasen possibly miss the opportunity for his cooking to be praised??]
What am I even supposed to do with all that time if I can't nap?!
no subject
Well! I am sure you could find plenty to do.
[ He nods, though his smile stays wry and teasing. ]
Paint your nails, look after Yamato-kun, carve rocks... There's still plenty to do even when this is not our traditional Citadel.
no subject
What the shit's up with these suggestions, though?!]
I already painted my nails, there's no way I'm looking for Yasusada- [Because he eats everything] -and... what does that even mean? [Carve rocks??]
no subject
Why, for our troops' catapults, of course! I read about it in a book about how people conducted war in the West, you know. There was a time where warriors carved messages in their rocks so that the enemy would be hurt twiceover! Once with a rock, and then with words... It's quite elegant, no?
[ no. it's not. ]
no subject
Wow, seriously? Y'know, that's not a bad idea... I mean, destroying morale is just as important as taking down the enemy, right? Ahh, but I don't even know the first thing about carving.
[And clearly he can't just crudely etch a message into stone! That would defeat the purpose of delivering an elegant insult...!]
no subject
I don't either, in truth! But it cannot be that hard... The book I read about this in was talking of people that lived far before any of us were even forged! So it must be simple enough.
[ and that's how kasen and kashuu hurt themselves trying to carve rocks ]
no subject
With all the how-to things around here, they probably have something that's at least kinda similar. [THAT'S HOW PEOPLE DIE, KASHUU.] Sooo I'm sure we can find one method that'll work.
[He's already whipping out his CereVice, rip. He's like lightning-fast with this stuff now so you can bet he's on Cerealia's search engine in like two seconds googling "carve rocks use in battle insult".]
—Ooh, wow, listen to this! Looks like some people carved stuff, but some would just attach like, fabric scraps with emblems or lockets or whatever from bodies that were lying around just in case someone on the other side recognized who it belonged to. That's stone cold.
i'm not deleting this but i'll bring a real tag later
