Not used to it, exactly. But there used to be other members of the Shinsengumi here for a while, before they disappeared. One of the first I met was the other Okita Souji - and he seemed like he was used to it, at least a bit. Guessed pretty quickly who I was. [There's a touch of resignation in his voice, because of course it was the condition that had clued the man in. It seemed like that was an inevitable fact of their collective existence.]
We were quite different. He was taller than me, reddish brown hair, green eyes - and he seemed a bit sharper somehow, maybe more... ah, perhaps cynical is the right word. [He sighs, absently smoothing down his own blankets.] I'm used to Shinpachi-san being tiny and sly, but that one was big and muscular, and pretty loud and straightforward. Sano-san is supposed to be loud, however, but he was quieter. Heisuke-san was more childish, less flirtatious. Hajime-san didn't have any spiritual powers at all.
But it was still all them, see? Some little things still overlapped, they knew more or less the same history, and they were unmistakeably Shinsengumi - even if they kept staring at me weirdly and being confused about any Okita Souji looking like a girl.
[His lips quirk in amusement. It's not like he hasn't had that reaction back in his own world sometimes. Then he tilts his head thoughtfully.] They're not the Shinsengumi from your place either, then? [The lack of immediate recognition is pretty notable.]

Hey, get a hold of yourself. [ Once he calms down, though, he does retract his hands because well... This is kind of awkward. This man is technically a part of the Shinsengumi but not his... How is that suppose to work? There's a sense of responsibility he does feel but at the same time Hijikata can't help but feel some disbelief biting at the back of his thoughts.
So, back to the whole there's more than one Shinsengumi thing.]
I suppose that makes sense... [ But Hijikata shakes his head. ] I recognize some similarities but they're not completely spot on. My Souji is a pain in my ass, Harada... Well, quiet but more detached. Nagakura is childish but he tries to take care of everyone. Heisuke is childish and flirtatious, that kid... [ Well, he tries to take after Shinpachi, Kondo-san told him that. ] Saitou is strict yet mature, I can usually count on him; Spiritual powers though? That's pretty odd.
[ Okay, but... Now he's genuinely curious. ] Which means... You guys have your own Hijikata as well, huh...? [ Now, that's really hard to think about. ]

He does smile a bit though, shifting against the wall to get more comfortable.]
Well, I'm not sure the Hijikata-san I know would use the same words, but... he does call me a nuisance and a brat a lot. [And there is such endless fondness in his voice as he speaks, such gentleness tempered with more than a bit of longing. His guide, his mentor, the man whose attention and affection he strives so hard to be worthy of. The center of his universe, the man who gave him a purpose, and who he loves to distraction for it.
The moment fades, but Souji sits a bit straighter, eyes lighting up happily, and there is just a hint of mischief in his smile.] He's taller than you. His hair is a little bit lighter, too. And I guess I could say that you are more 'pretty' while he is more 'handsome'? [...Yeeeeeeah, he's a brat. But he does look more serious a moment after.] You talk a bit differently, and while you're a bit ruder and more impatient, you're not as harsh and distant as he often comes off, I think. But I think that the two of you are alike in that you are very dedicated, and you carry many responsibilities alone because you feel you have to - although I'm guessing a bit.
[He looks down.] I think some things will always be similar. Like Shinpachi-san trying to look after everyone. And Heisuke-san... [He clenches his hands a bit. It had been easier, thinking about the one he never knew that well, but the grief after the friend his lost is still fresh.] ...Heisuke-san being very idealistic. That kind of thing.

What's that suppose to mean? [ Huff. ]
Well, whatever... It's just because you actually really worried me back there. How reckless are you? So, don't think about doing it again- pushing yourself, I mean. Even if you say you're feeling better we have to make sure. Geez... Seriously... [ He has to keep up his #harsh reputation, you know! Although, it's difficult to not worry about Souji's condition, it's just merely habit.
He ends his small lecture with a sigh. ]
It's worrying though. I don't like being away when I can't watch them, who knows if they're going to be okay. [ Sure, they're grown men that can take care of themselves definitely. Yet, if anything happens it'd surely feel like Hijikata's own fault; he's the one that has to take care of them anyway. ] So... If you said you met others here, do you think we have a chance to seeing ours again?
[ He hopes, at least. ]
