[ with the entertainment district now more functional than usual, the amusement park has decided to open its doors again to any patrons who wish to ride their roller coasters, go through the haunted mansion, or just play with the shooting games! thankfully, the rides aren't dangerous anymore and are 60% safe. hold onto your seats while riding the roller coaster because the protective bar may suddenly go loose when you get to the loop!

that said, tadashi and levi have been dragged by one (1) maya fey to the park. he's actually looking quite forward to this excursion since it's been a while since he was able to relax. so hopefully, this little outing of theirs will be a success! ]

[ the first time he saw the words "amusement park" together like that, he was confused. he knew what they meant separately, but together? it was a mystery.

he's about to find out in a big way. how did he let this happen to him? he's become weak. maybe chasing after teenagers really is his lot in life... but hey, at least this one isn't constantly getting kidnapped. plus Tadashi's here, too, and he's a smart guy. in the inevitable event of foolishness, Tadashi would surely take his side, right?

What's a water park?

[ somewhere he would never go, because who knows what's been in that water? gross. ]

[ what's a water park, HA. levi just continues to amaze tadashi with his various reactions. he'd definitely like to see him in san fransokyo with all the futuristic tech there... it'd be a cute image to see. ]

Ever heard of swimming pools? [ the question is obviously addressed to levi. ] That park's full of 'em.

Anyway, what ride are we going to try first?

With water slides and all sorts of twists and turns! [Levi, you sweet summer heichou. This teenager is constantly getting kidnapped or accused or murder or otherwise finding herself in mortal peril. Good luck.]

[likewise, Maya is picturing Levi's reaction to just about anything in Japanifornia.]

How about one of the biiig rollercoasters? You guys can handle that, right?

[ he's going to sound like a broken record already. why was he invited to this, again? ]

I don't know what that is, either.

I think it's over there, [ it's kind of rude, but he points to a sign as he says it.

then he looks at levi. ]

Don't worry. You're going to have the time of your life.

[ if you can get on it, anyway. ]

[ he's been called much worse things (how did she know he was a captain? hmm...) so her teasing rolls off of him. looking around them, he notes the not-so-suspicious lack of other amusement park patrons. are they really the only ones crazy enough to do something like this in the middle of what's basically a disaster zone? ]

Nobody's ever died here before, right?

[ that question only catches him off guard. ]

Not that I know of? Just relax and enjoy the park.

[puffing her cheeks at you, mister rain on everyone's parade] Quit being such a gloomy gus! We came here for fun!

[besides Levi's humanity's greatest Mary Sue, he should be able to handle escaping one amusement park ride.]

[ you guys better get used to that pretty quick or this is going to be a long, woeful adventure. ]

I'm just saying, a lot of places are still wrecked from the flooding. I wonder how much of this place is really in working order.

[ oh well, what's the worst that could happen?? ]

If it's open, then most of the rides should be functional.

[ and that's when they close in on the roller coaster. tadashi stops in his tracks and looks at them both. ]

You guys ready?

Exactly! They wouldn't just keep it open if they were all death traps! Besides, I can carry you both to safety if anything goes wrong.

[Definitely.]

[But her eyes sure are lighting up when she sees that ride]

YEAH! Let's do it!

[ sweet mother of god, what is that thing? they're going to go on that? it's not like he doesn't fly around doing crazy shit at home, so realistically it shouldn't be a problem (no motion sickness here), but it's just... a giant machine with the sole purpose of fun? he sure as hell is in another universe right now.

but he's the oldest one here, and he wants to at least act the part. so he's going to swallow his uneasiness and go stoic about it. the usual, you know. ]

[ tadashi leads the way, then, uttering a "come on" while nodding his head towards the line for the roller coaster. ]

You guys are going to have a blast. I can feel it.

[ oh tadashi, if only you knew... ]

[Well, at least someone has the right attitude]

It's about time he learned to lighten up! Doncha think?

he follows a little hesitantly behind them, wary as usual. but surely if there's a line it must be fun and safe, right? all those people can't possibly all be dumb enough to sign up for something dangerous.

[ and then the guy who mans the ride suddenly comes up to them and tells them that "you must be this tall to ride", bringing along a large ruler that's about 5'5" in height. ]

Uhh, guys?

[ he'll look at both maya and levi cluelessly. ]

What the heeeck?! That's not fair!

[Who put a minimum height on fun, this is tyranny, and Maya is puffing her cheeks out in protest!]

[And also: standing on her tiptoes]

We should totally be able to ride this!

[ ah yes, the plight of the short person... usually he doesn't care about these things at all, but this is actually kinda bullshit. he's an adult.

...he peeks around to their right and left, checking for anyone who might rat them out. ]
