It is a quiet day in mostly reconstructed Cerealia. The robots are busily running into walls that were not there before, the Cybuddy bees are buzzing...and CERES has still not said a word. Attempting to contact them still gets the User Offline error. Strange...

But who cares if CERES is offline? After all, they are the cruel and tyrannical captors. A Cerealia without them must be better than a Cerealia with them. So there's nothing to worry about on this fine, peaceful day. Or, at least, that's what it seems like, when suddenly there's a voice in everyone's head. A chosen few may recognize the voice, for they will have heard it before, but to the vast majority, it is brand new.

Looks like someone has been saved, and a reward granted... and no, you don't have a single choice in the matter.

Your heroism will be remembered, lost and stolen souls.

You have saved me, and so now, I shall save you.

All of you.

//SCENARIOS.EXE

PHASE I

[ day one ] It happens so quickly. One moment you’re in the colony, going about your daily life, and the next, you’re… floating. A moment later, every player character from the colony is transported with a wisp of fresh air to...somewhere very very different. The distance is far, but it is covered in what must have only been a scant moment, and it’s clear somehow, especially to air characters, that it was Caeli’s doing that brought everyone there.

There, naturally, being right in the middle of the jungle.

Everyone is then unceremoniously dropped. You may land on a tree, or in a patch of poison mushrooms (no really, look out for the colorful plant life, it’s probably poisonous) or in the river. There are some strange insects of all sorts and types, some of which have some uncomfortable side effects if you’re bitten, such as swelling or the uncomfortable urge to go hug the nearest person, and there are strange flowers everywhere, some of which glow only in the dark of night or the shade of trees. It is dreadfully humid, however, and a little hard to breathe--unless you’re of the air disposition.

Either way, you’ve certainly landed somewhere fantastical, so take some time to get used to your surroundings. It shouldn’t take too long to find everyone else, hopefully.

PHASE II

[ day two ] Of course, this far into the jungle, and making this much noise, it was only inevitable before some company was attracted.

Some are clearly dangerous, some are peaceful as can be and some are somewhere in between; approach at your own risk.

Either way, these monsters are all drawn to larger groups of people and a lot of noise, so it may be best to keep quiet...though the ones that keep their distance may be even more concerning.

Everyone is certainly being stalked at one point or another in the jungle -- and at night, there are eyes watching from the darker parts of the trees.

PHASE III

[ day three ] But perhaps if you follow some of those monsters deeper into the woods, you will stumble across an old, run down village of sorts. It looks as though time and the jungle has overtaken it. Exploring it will reveal plenty of homes that were clearly lived in however, by families and by people of all sorts.

There are empty rooms, covered in dust, and a central village fire, long gone out.

Small knick-knacks and various objects can be found… if you want to steal from the dead, you know. It’s a little rude. It appears they led a simple, peaceful life, however; most notably, there is no technology to be found.

And if The Bridge catches you doing it, she will look incredibly sad and ask you to put everything back in its proper place before she goes back to looking very irritated at Caeli. You may overhear words about how this “isn’t the right place” and Caeli’s unrepentant, “It is only a few hundred miles”. Looks like something went a little wrong in the transportation process.

Time to camp out for the night, perhaps. And your CereVices don’t get any reception out here, so no surfing the internet for you. If you try to connect to the internet, for some reason the device starts playing a song. Was that programmed…?

PHASE IV

[ day four ] By the fourth day, it’s pretty clear that you’re going to be stuck here for a bit. Pestering Caeli or Maris gets nothing, while the Bridge still can’t be approached for pretty good reasons. So… you’ll just have to make the best of it while they figure out their next approach.

Time to figure out how to camp with few supplies and even fewer nice places to sleep. Maybe try to make a fire (though it’s incredibly difficult, considering how muggy it is here) or try to find some bugs to eat (ew gross).

Of course, you can try hunting, but the prey doesn’t look too friendly, so be careful not to become the prey yourself. The same goes for fishing, it seems.

Some of the trees are poisonous, some of the grasses will cause unfortunate rashes, and some vines will lash out to grab at people (especially colorful ones); basically, this is an entirely untamed alien jungle, so it may not be the fun camping trip you'd like.

Time to work together to survive out here, at least for a little longer.

It’s your time to shine. This is Person Versus Wild.

PHASE V

[ day six ] On day six, the jungle goes utterly silent.

The monsters and animals disappear. The extra friends poof away hastily and suddenly. Maris and the Bridge fall silent (though Caeli admittedly continues floating there as ever). If anyone approaches them to ask, they'll just say that "she is coming".

And soon, she does appear. She moves slowly, lacking in feet; they are roots, as though that of a tree. Nonetheless, she has no troubles with moving forward, slow bit by bit. She does not speak, not at first, and behind her, trotting lightly through the woods, there is another. Both feel strongly of spiritual energy, just like Maris and Caeli. And eventually, after observing the people gathered, they can be spoken to.

BONUS

[ day ??? ] After spending some time in the jungle, emotions might be running a bit amuck. And those emotions might bring some unexpected...friends. Yes, let's go with friends.

Because if a character is typically grumpy, gloomy, stoic, lineface, or anything along those lines, they may find themselves followed by a bright, happy bird. That bird feeds off of those emotions, and will just cheerfully follow around any lineface character for as long as possible. Or until they smile. The birds are otherwise harmless, chirping happily every now and then and following them around like a friendly shadow.

Happy, cheerful, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, energetic characters, on the other hand, will soon find themselves followed by... a different friend. Or maybe a handful of them. It depends on how cheerful they are. Either way, these creatures feed off of happiness and fun, but they will also chew on hair or an ear if they're allowed to get that close, making horrifying, chittering noises as they follow anyone who is in a good mood.

[ pffft. ]

Kinda, but haven't really gotten anything useful out of them. You?

[ he recognizes them from the shrines, has eked out that there are elemental alignments for each, but that's about the limit of his knowledge.

knowing that korra can communicate with spirits even in her own world, rin's curious to hear what she has to say. ]
babermetrics: (my opinion. unfollow if u must.)

[personal profile] babermetrics 2015-10-08 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, it was mine first.

[But it's a weak protest. If he keeps it to himself, he has to clean it all himself, and . . . eeeuuuggh. He'd had enough of that after the flood, thanks.]

Okay, but you can't tell too many people, got it? How about Trucy, Athena, and Larry? That's fine right there! I'll invite Kirigiri and Naegi, I guess . . . maybe that's too many? Maybe just Kirigiri!
bewrightback: (i have a bird!)

[personal profile] bewrightback 2015-10-08 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
[WOW now that's rude. But at least he's helping, and Phoenix soon manages to tie the vine to the branch in... well, as secure a manner as he can manage.]

Great! I think I've got this. [And now... he grabs onto the vine and tries to wiggle his coat off of the branch so he can make his way down.]
bewrightback: (passing smile)

[personal profile] bewrightback 2015-10-08 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
Well... I mean, it looks like there's more than one house. The girls can have their own house, and I'll sent all the boys in your age group here.

That way you can have your own slumber party, and you can each have fun chores to take care of!
babermetrics: (I was the fucking idiot bird.)

[personal profile] babermetrics 2015-10-08 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
Shit, man, how'm I supposed to know how to kill a bird?

[He says, as he grudgingly pulls a switchblade out of his pocket, and if you think he doesn't feel awkward as fuck about this, you're wrong. Look, it's been really handy in the jungle, so he's grateful Tanaka talked him into buying one, but he hasn't had to use it on anything that bleeds yet, aaaand. And . . .

Well, yeah. He doesn't flip the blade out yet, just glancing down at the handle awkwardly.]

--I've got this, but it ain't like I bought this to kill chickens with, so now what?
cryptologic: (▲ and let me have the floor)

[personal profile] cryptologic 2015-10-08 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
I've actually been trying to figure that out myself. [ there had to be some sort of rules behind the magic explained in the journal, but now that he knows he only has one-third of the information, there could be so much more to learn!

...not that that really matters here and now. but still, it's fun to theorize. ]

Summoning spells seem to always need words, and you need words to enchant objects, I think. But once you enchanted, say, a lightning sword, after that you'd just be able to use the lightning sword, no words needed. Or...that's my theory, anyway.
thatdamnknight: (to be or not to be: that is the question)

[personal profile] thatdamnknight 2015-10-08 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
[those are all good points. flynn has to concede on the first one. this place may be too old to really be able to tell that.]

Environment might not have been the factor. If they moved here then they had to have been aware of the threats the creatures and surrounding area posed.

[no one moves into a jungle without taking the right precautions. that'd just be dumb. granted, for all flynn knows, the people could have been complete morons, but chances are, they took the right measures in order to survive and that resulted in them being able to actually build a village here. that also rules out one other possibility about what happened, at least.]

But being forced to move could certainly be a possibility. Quite a number of items were left behind, so they may have lacked time or ability to take everything.

[and ceres seems the sort to force innocent people out of their homes. then again, it might not have been ceres, either. nothing around the immediate area gives any indication about, well, anything. ho hum, think think think... what can the answer to this mystery be?]
thatdamnknight: (and some by virtues fall)

[personal profile] thatdamnknight 2015-10-08 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
[the impressive feat of strength was indeed witnessed but not even given a second thought right now. more important things exist to worry about, namely touka's health. flynn frowns, not entirely convinced by that claim of being all right. rather than say as much, he opts to do something else. one of the few things on his person during all this is his blastia and the ability to use magic, healing magic. will it have any effect on rashes? who knows.

what matters is that it's worth a try. decision made, a casting circle gathers under him and an incantation cast under his breath.]

Now, sacred blessing... Cure.

[even if it isn't enough to heal the rashes, it should at least alleviate some of the pain associated with them. at least, flynn hopes so.]

[ rin's still chuckling under his breath by the time rei finds his footing. he brushes off the gratitude -- after all, he was paid back in amusement enough to last days, and that's worth more than a moment spent untangling vines. ]

You been holding out alright?

[ he gives rei a moment to revel in the change of subject, before -- ]

Other than getting a little too friendly with the vines, I mean.

[ regardless of rin's teasing, he has to admit to no small amount of trepidation when it comes to the sentient plant life. this isn't the first instance he's encountered; in fact, the more he wanders, the worse it seems to get.

he nudges at a trailing vine with the last of the branches he'd collected, this time trying to hold onto his end as the vine coiled around the other. despite the application of his full strength, the vine snaps it from his grasp in a moment flat.

well, that answered that. better to step away than to avoid following in rei's footsteps. rei's very embarrassing footsteps.

at least rin isn't wearing rainbow underwear. ]

[that smile becomes more forced the closer she comes.]

R...really, it's nothing. All it this is are the ramifications of my own actions the prior evening.

[please PLEASE don't come any closer, natalia. he's really doing his damnest to not hug her and that urge keeps rising with every passing second. the closer she gets, the more the scent of alcohol might greet her.]

I'm assuming they arrived with your group. It would fit with the pattern.

I have way too much, so you can have some. All the animals here are huge, so I ended up getting way too much in leftovers.

[ She pulls a small bag out from behind her and hands Inaba some jerky. It probably tastes far too gamey, but beggers can't be choosers. ]
babermetrics: (deez are not my beautiful nuts.)

[personal profile] babermetrics 2015-10-08 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, hey, hey hey hey what're you--

[--he begins, panicking at Draco's bullshit, because for all he knows he can do that! but then the charm kicks in and it's fine. It's better than fine . . . damn, boy, you're useful. A total asshole, but useful!]

--whoa. . . . That was awesome! I--heh, thanks!

--But you didn't have to be like that about it!
braavado: (So what do we do now?)

[personal profile] braavado 2015-10-08 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
Well, we're definitely outside the colony now--maybe some place CERES can't reach us.

[Korra stares out the window at the jungle, thoughts making her sound a little absent-minded.]

I've heard the natives of this world were element users. If I had to guess, this is probably one of the villages they used to live in before...whatever happened.
faithfulflame: (Rei staring into space)

No. Not a sorceress. She has some magical aptitude, but she's more a scientist. She's very, very good with technology, in a way I can't even begin to fathom. And she has similar abilities to myself, drawing on her own past life. She's the Goddess of Wisdom and Water , as I am of War and Fire.

[And she appreciates that, really. And that he can just accept this stuff without thinking it all that strange.]

And speaking of allies. I...met another of your people during the most recent batch of arrivals as well.

[A question hangs in the air. Is this someone to worry about?]

Really? I think it's a nice song, though.

I see...

[He presses his fingers to his mouth for a moment, and then offer a hand to Hiro once more.]

I believe humans consider exposure therapy an effective method of desensitizing one to their fears. Would you like to try it?

[His current plan? princess Carry Hiro all the way up high until he stops freaking out about heights!! Perfect plan. What a good Sword he is.

Normally, he'd just do it without asking, but Hiro's already asked him not to surprise him too badly, for the sake of his mental health, or something like that.]

Ah, I see! He's a rather... intense person. [ She doesn't want to comment too much about Illidan. It's easy to see from her reaction to the question and how he has, y'know, demon horns that their relationship probably isn't the easiest one. ]

I met him during the charity event. He ended up on my team and we threw magic at enemy teams.

At least it cushioned your fall— I can't imagine that you're too comfortable right now, though. [ with this humidity, he doubts that namazuo would be drying off any time soon on his own... ]

What do you mean...? Is this river any different? [ are rivers that different from each other? did this one want to take namazuo prey and eat him? ]

[Well that gets a snort. Herc just floats right on up into the air though.]

Put your heart into it, boy, and there's nothing a hero-in-training like you can't accomplish. Why, you'll make a fine candidate for the Avengers with a few more years under your belt.

Her bartering is met with a placid turn of his heels, a slow walk towards a direction he hasn't taken yet. Standoffish, yes. Practical, also yes.
]

Kissing isn't something casual for me. Besides— [ 'I'm married' is on the tip of his tongue, but he quashes that again. Is he, really? He'll have to think about how he'll want to articulate this. ] —I told you, kisses aren't currency.
