It is a quiet day in mostly reconstructed Cerealia. The robots are busily running into walls that were not there before, the Cybuddy bees are buzzing...and CERES has still not said a word. Attempting to contact them still gets the User Offline error. Strange...

But who cares if CERES is offline? After all, they are the cruel and tyrannical captors. A Cerealia without them must be better than a Cerealia with them. So there's nothing to worry about on this fine, peaceful day. Or, at least, that's what it seems like, when suddenly there's a voice in everyone's head. A chosen few may recognize the voice, for they will have heard it before, but to the vast majority, it is brand new.

Looks like someone has been saved, and a reward granted... and no, you don't have a single choice in the matter.

Your heroism will be remembered, lost and stolen souls.

You have saved me, and so now, I shall save you.

All of you.

//SCENARIOS.EXE

PHASE I

[ day one ] It happens so quickly. One moment you’re in the colony, going about your daily life, and the next, you’re… floating. A moment later, every player character from the colony is transported with a wisp of fresh air to...somewhere very very different. The distance is far, but it is covered in what must have only been a scant moment, and it’s clear somehow, especially to air characters, that it was Caeli’s doing that brought everyone there.

There, naturally, being right in the middle of the jungle.

Everyone is then unceremoniously dropped. You may land on a tree, or in a patch of poison mushrooms (no really, look out for the colorful plant life, it’s probably poisonous) or in the river. There are some strange insects of all sorts and types, some of which have some uncomfortable side effects if you’re bitten, such as swelling or the uncomfortable urge to go hug the nearest person, and there are strange flowers everywhere, some of which glow only in the dark of night or the shade of trees. It is dreadfully humid, however, and a little hard to breathe--unless you’re of the air disposition.

Either way, you’ve certainly landed somewhere fantastical, so take some time to get used to your surroundings. It shouldn’t take too long to find everyone else, hopefully.

PHASE II

[ day two ] Of course, this far into the jungle, and making this much noise, it was only inevitable before some company was attracted.

Some are clearly dangerous, some are peaceful as can be and some are somewhere in between; approach at your own risk.

Either way, these monsters are all drawn to larger groups of people and a lot of noise, so it may be best to keep quiet...though the ones that keep their distance may be even more concerning.

Everyone is certainly being stalked at one point or another in the jungle -- and at night, there are eyes watching from the darker parts of the trees.

PHASE III

[ day three ] But perhaps if you follow some of those monsters deeper into the woods, you will stumble across an old, run down village of sorts. It looks as though time and the jungle has overtaken it. Exploring it will reveal plenty of homes that were clearly lived in however, by families and by people of all sorts.

There are empty rooms, covered in dust, and a central village fire, long gone out.

Small knick-knacks and various objects can be found… if you want to steal from the dead, you know. It’s a little rude. It appears they led a simple, peaceful life, however; most notably, there is no technology to be found.

And if The Bridge catches you doing it, she will look incredibly sad and ask you to put everything back in its proper place before she goes back to looking very irritated at Caeli. You may overhear words about how this “isn’t the right place” and Caeli’s unrepentant, “It is only a few hundred miles”. Looks like something went a little wrong in the transportation process.

Time to camp out for the night, perhaps. And your CereVices don’t get any reception out here, so no surfing the internet for you. If you try to connect to the internet, for some reason the device starts playing a song. Was that programmed…?

PHASE IV

[ day four ] By the fourth day, it’s pretty clear that you’re going to be stuck here for a bit. Pestering Caeli or Maris gets nothing, while the Bridge still can’t be approached for pretty good reasons. So… you’ll just have to make the best of it while they figure out their next approach.

Time to figure out how to camp with few supplies and even fewer nice places to sleep. Maybe try to make a fire (though it’s incredibly difficult, considering how muggy it is here) or try to find some bugs to eat (ew gross).

Of course, you can try hunting, but the prey doesn’t look too friendly, so be careful not to become the prey yourself. The same goes for fishing, it seems.

Some of the trees are poisonous, some of the grasses will cause unfortunate rashes, and some vines will lash out to grab at people (especially colorful ones); basically, this is an entirely untamed alien jungle, so it may not be the fun camping trip you'd like.

Time to work together to survive out here, at least for a little longer.

It’s your time to shine. This is Person Versus Wild.

PHASE V

[ day six ] On day six, the jungle goes utterly silent.

The monsters and animals disappear. The extra friends poof away hastily and suddenly. Maris and the Bridge fall silent (though Caeli admittedly continues floating there as ever). If anyone approaches them to ask, they'll just say that "she is coming".

And soon, she does appear. She moves slowly, lacking in feet; they are roots, as though that of a tree. Nonetheless, she has no troubles with moving forward, slow bit by bit. She does not speak, not at first, and behind her, trotting lightly through the woods, there is another. Both feel strongly of spiritual energy, just like Maris and Caeli. And eventually, after observing the people gathered, they can be spoken to.

BONUS

[ day ??? ] After spending some time in the jungle, emotions might be running a bit amuck. And those emotions might bring some unexpected...friends. Yes, let's go with friends.

Because if a character is typically grumpy, gloomy, stoic, lineface, or anything along those lines, they may find themselves followed by a bright, happy bird. That bird feeds off of those emotions, and will just cheerfully follow around any lineface character for as long as possible. Or until they smile. The birds are otherwise harmless, chirping happily every now and then and following them around like a friendly shadow.

Happy, cheerful, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, energetic characters, on the other hand, will soon find themselves followed by... a different friend. Or maybe a handful of them. It depends on how cheerful they are. Either way, these creatures feed off of happiness and fun, but they will also chew on hair or an ear if they're allowed to get that close, making horrifying, chittering noises as they follow anyone who is in a good mood.

It's very easy to lose sight of the obvious solution when you get heated up. You have to stay calm no matter what!

[ Nanoha's inner teacher shines through with an easy smile. She's not going to judge, suddenly being dumped in the jungle can be stressful. ]

[Edgeworth nearly jumps when he feels something - or someone - suddenly wrap around his waist. He glances over his shoulder and sees a teenage boy...hugging him.

All he can do is just stand there awkwardly, stiffly, eyes practically popping out of their sockets. Of course, weird jungle, weird happenings with weird people...]

...dare I ask why you're hugging me?

[He has been in Cerealia long enough to know that perhaps Yu is not doing this by his own volition. That doesn't make it any less awkward, though.]

Of course you're alive. I wouldn't get you down from that tree just to let you smash into the ground!

[ She releases the combination bind and barrier spell keeping Usopp off the ground and drops him the rest of the distance safely. ]

I'm almost insulted, did you think I was going to let anything happen to you?

[It's just like old times; Akane being reasonable and Kogami and Gino just a sentence or two away from one of them walking off angrily. At least they're all alive, so that's something. Still, while it's great and all that they're having a happy little reunion, he's not especially in the mood to be an audience member to any fighting right now.]

Great, everybody's in one piece and we can all have a nice little sleepover in the ghost village while we hope nothing tries to eat anybody overnight.

[He's honestly not a fan of the idea of actually trying to stay in the village for the night, but he's not about to wander off on his own or make a big deal out of it, either. He's tired too.]

[ He's so determined now. What kind of nature-based evil is this, using Namazuo like this? What did the wakazashi do, what did sword spirits do??? Either way, with a grumpy expression, Kogi sheaths his blade as he nods. ]

Looks like that might be the best approach. Hang on tight, okay?

[ As soon as the vines lower just enough for Kogi to grab onto Namazuo's arms, he will, and tugs as hard as he can? Although he's not like Iwatooshi, Kogi's got a little bit of strength!

Though, against this many vines??? ]

I'd appreciate that- thanks. [While Minato's a pro at sleeping anywhere abandoned villages are pushing that limit, and he's already starting to feel the strain of over-using his Persona without proper rest- it's evident in the beginnings of black marking underneath his eyes and a chance yawn as he bends down to inspect the grass.]

This smells really good...you must be pretty used to being outdoors.

Or asked the grinning bobcat why he grinned?
]

If I had to venture a guess, they all fell sick at the same time and all just passed on one by one. I'm probably wrong, though.

That's why we'd take shifts in watching during the night, [ akane says almost immediately. it's not like she already planned this out or anything. but with people agreeing with her idea, she has to push through and act like a leader. not to mention, she's the only inspector around. while they aren't in the japan they know anymore, she at least knows that these two and a half men around him show her a different kind of respect than they would to one another. ]

This place is abandoned, and there doesn't seem to be any sign of footprints from those monsters we've encountered the past few days. We should be safe.

You can't blame us. It's only natural to show concern when we see something like that.

[A beat.]

We are only human after all.

[Regardless, he understands that her current plight and the solution would hinder some kind of advantage she has. He puts a hand to his chin, pondering an idea before he opens his palm and silver dust starts to swirl around it.

The particles come together and clump together to make a tiny metallic owl. The small bird flew up, light being reflected on it's silver body, and roosted on a branch high above Ene.]

How's about this then. That bird will keep an eye out for any animals or vines for us, and I can accompany you to your camp and friends.
zenryokuzenkai: (embarrassed)

[personal profile] zenryokuzenkai 2015-10-04 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess it can be kind of overwhelming... [ That bird is really loud and distracting, no doubt about that. Nanoha will still take it over the creepy squeaking of the things following her around, especially since it doesn't seem to be trying to eat Inaba's hair, but at least she can see how it's not all good. ]

I'm thankful for my magic every day. The worst of the 'jungle crap' is still getting enough food and rest though. No matter how powerful I am, I can't do anything if something jumps me while I'm asleep!

[ And she really can't sleep if something's stalking her and trying to eat her hair. ]

I won't. [ Ket gives the fox a slow but firm nod, voice laced with determination and wonder alike. "I wish to protect you" – that's easy enough. Because when Ket thinks it, he means it every time. ]

I'll never lose it, Sir Fire Fox, whether I'm yours or 'hers' or... or Caeli's? Or CERES's. [ He means that, too. More than anything. ]

I promise. [ Ket makes a fist, smiling softly as the warmth brushes against his palm. Warmth that's a gift, not a power. A gift for others, like how it should be.

Speaking of Sir Fox, though:
]

Yeah, let's find another way. [Is he afraid of bugs? Well...the ones in the jungle are probably more dangerous. This is a thought that apparently occupies Minato's mind as he walks behind Kaz, hand propped against his chin.]

We should avoid them as much as possible. [This is said five minutes later.] Who knows what would happen if we got bitten?

[Link is busy inspecting a group of glowing flowers, trying to determine whether any of them are edible, when he hears someone approaching him. He hadn't wandered too far from the group of unhappy colonists, and Link hasn't seen any kind of threatening monsters or locals yet, so the noise doesn't put him in instant defensive mode. Instead, he looks over his shoulder and sees that kind man he met on the roof that one time.]

...Mr. Yu? [if he remembers his name correctly, although he hasn't yet realized that Yu wouldn't recognize him in his normal, Hylian body. He turns to face the older boy and blinks at his gesticulations.] What's wrong?

[ He had already checked for footprints first thing, being the hunting dog that he is. Truthfully he had decided to stay here without the consensus, but he's glad to hear him and Akane are on the same wavelength thus far. He can't say he's on the same page as Ginoza, given how their last text thread ended, but they'll have plenty of time to work on that.

At least Kagari is having fun. Not. ]

I don't mind starting the watch. [ He had already lit his cigarette, so no point in checking out now. ] There are some notes I'd like to go over anyway.

[Today, Link is scavenging for food. The area immediately surrounding the village has been picked clean by now, so he's prepared to travel a little farther in search of edible mushrooms and flowers (...that he knows of). As he trudges through the underbrush, cutting away anything he can't duck under or slip past, he hears Dipper's grumpy voice not too far to his right. Actually... almost directly at his right, on the other side of a huge fern.

He navigates around to the other side and calls out, not wanting to terrify the person with the possibility of him being a hungry monster.
]

Um, hello! Who's there?

[stepping out from around the fern, he immediately recognizes Dipper. it's that kid from the first day he was here!] Oh... it's you!

[He's not sure how others have been fairing, but the jungle has been relatively kind to him. His instincts haven't failed him, able to find and identify some edible berries and plants, and any predator that would stalk or attack him would find that they were not the apex hunter anymore. He was.

He was finally comfortable and confident enough to move through the jungle trees, using his chains to swing from tree to tree, or grind along mossy surfaces. Tarzan isn't the only one who can do that. It wasn't very hard to find Ami with the wolf-like creature on the other bank and immediately he knew there was gonna be trouble.

He can't quite show himself and provoke the wolf so he crouched on a branch in the shadows, ready and waiting to swoop in and save the girl, or kill the wolf. If she should spot him, she'll see a dark clothed and silver masked man watching the entire scene. Totally not suspicious or creepy.]
