phase i [the world is upside-down, and not just in a metaphorical sense—or at least that’s how it seems from Usopp’s perspective. it would probably be more accurate to say he’s upside-down, though (because he is). he’s currently dangling from a branch when the back of his pants snagged when he fell, high enough above the jungle floor to be worrying. a large red bag is hanging from a strap around his neck, and he’s trying to carefully find something to hold onto so he can extract himself from this predicament before he falls. so far he doesn’t seem to be having much luck]
[if he hears someone approaching, he’ll cup his hands around his mouth and call out:] Oi! I’m really stuck here!! Little help?
[an ominous sound of tearing material might suggest that if someone does intend to help him out? they should probably hurry]
phase ii [camping is fun, really. sitting around a roaring bonfire, telling stories and singing songs, maybe roasting fresh fish, hotdogs or even marshmallows…all a good time! but getting flung unprepared into a deep, dark, spooky jungle, surrounded by mysterious and almost-assuredly dangerous animals lurking in every shadow? that doesn’t count as camping! …even if you end up doing a lot of the same things. shh. it’s different, okay?]
[well, okay, some of these critters seem harmless. some are even kind of cute. those aren’t the ones Usopp’s concerned about, though.]
[if someone runs into him during the first couple days in the jungle, especially once the sun begins to sink low in the sky, they may notice he seems especially jumpy. one might even be able to steal up and surprise him, depending on the reaction they’re looking for]
a little later [he adjusts eventually. after a couple of days, one'll be more apt to find him curiously poking at weird plants and testing their effects, even gathering seeds for reasons he'll be more than glad to ramble on about if someone just asks the right questions. you might even see him with a sketchbook in hand, drawing up studies of birds or small animals]
[one might even stumble over Usopp—literally stumble over him, if they aren't watching where they're going—on his hands and knees in the underbrush. what exactly is he doing? the bamboo bug cage he's constructed and has sitting nearby may offer a hint. show some interest, and he'll probably show off his collection]
