« PHASE I [ Hokuto likes to sleep during his free time, but even he can't sleep in quicksand. Or he thinks he can't, at least. He probably can, but he's not sure what would happen if he just let himself sink. He's dead already so he technically can't die again, but he would rather not be stuck at the bottom of a pit for the rest of his existence.
Thankfully, being a spirit, he can easily get out of the sand. Being able to fly is a very good thing, isn't it. He brushes sand off of his clothes and out of his hair where he's floating in the air, looking down to see if anyone else landed in the pit. ]
« PHASE III [ Hokuto isn't heartless but he knows when he's seeing his dad for real and when he isn't. It's a ghost thing. He does stare into the depths of the forest, though, a scowl on his face.
He's not concerned about the hallucination, but he is concerned that his old man still haven't appeared in this data world. He had been living with the guy for over a century, it would be weird if he didn't miss him. ]

After a while, he instead finds a place to sit down, where he can lean against a tree, and he pulls a pack of cigarettes, a lighter, and a pocket ashtray from his dirty jeans. Apparently, getting some tobacco in his system is more important than getting well acquainted with the place. ]
