[ Entering the CERES research tower will be somewhat easier than expected.

There are no armed guards that will stop anyone if they come in through the front doors (or the side doors, or any doors) and regardless of which doors they choose, there will be a desk, behind which sits a robot receptionist. If they come in through a window, there will be a robot receptionist. No matter how they break in, the receptionist is there.

Weird.

If you talk to the robot receptionist, he will give you a pamphet. It is titled CERES and You: How to Live a Fulfilling Life With CERES. Now doesn't that sound like fun reading.

After a rousing game of rock, paper, scissors (unless you really want to play Uno in the lobby), it's decided. One group will go left. One group will go right.

There are unassuming doors on each side. Time to go! ]

LOCATION: OUTSIDE OF THE RESEARCH TOWER

[ Their original meeting place was Katsura's workplace, which coincidentally was McCeres, located right across the street from the research tower, and after it has gotten dark. Previously, Katsura had delivered a BEGINNER'S REBELLION PACK complete with the following:

(1) black turtleneck of the wearer's size.
(1) black headband.
(2) metallic timer bombs.
(1) instruction manual.
(1) packet of instant soba.
(1) deck of UNO.
(1) miniature parachute.
(1) invitation to a soap opera party in celebration of their success. (Look at that confidence— he already knows they're going to be victorious! How encouraging is that?)

He's expecting and hoping all of you have gone through these items and have them equipped with you. You never know, you have to be prepared for anything, but ultimately, it is your choice.
He's in all black, hair tied back by the time they are heading towards the Research Tower.

Not a word seems to pass his lips at the time— there was no reason to until they got closer. ]

_{[ Upon seeing a receptionist at the front desk, Katsura's instant response is to halt, and turn to face his allies. He gives them all a look and speaks with his voice low: ]}

There is already a security guard. _{[ Zura, that is a receptionist. ]} Maybe if we say we are delivering pizza, it won't see us as a threat. Maybe if I tell it to not notice us, it won't notice us.

_{[ INGENIOUS PLAN ALREADY.
Elizabeth holds up a placard:
"Maybe we should just—
Tiptoe inside." ]}

Excellent plan.

[This plan is going stellar already. Hinata is resisting the powerful urge to shake his head and tries valiantly to keep his head in the game.]

[BUT let's go on over to that door and check it and it's unlocked (suspicious) and that receptionist is doing nothing (more suspicious!!). He's just gonna look back skeptically before he shrugs in a might as well go gesture.]

[Splitting up was both a good and a bad idea as far as Hiro was concerned, but he's also feeling a little more confident than before. He's been in the tower once and he made it out with a little insider help. Weirdly, he doesn't quite remember his path but...it's been some time. Maybe he just forgot. Doesn't matter though. This time he has Baymax, his older brother, a trusted friend, and said-trusted friend's dragon.

Nothing to worry about. He had tucked one of the CERES and You pamphlets into his utility belt already and he approaches the door when he realizes the receptionist has no interest in stopping them, staring at the sign contemplatively. He's close to charging right in, but his hand lingers on the doorknob at the last minute as he faces his companions.]

Does...anybody else find this a little too easy?

Too easy.

[ this guy might be slightly annoyed by how easy it seems. it could definitely be a trap, but he's more than prepared for what's to come. ]

Let me go in first.

[helmets]

[ best plan tbh.

but celty's been keeping an eye on the receptionist even while hinata checks the door. once it seems like it's unlocked, she steps in front of them, black scythe materializing in her hands. she flashes them her device, ]

I'll go in first.

[ carefully, she eases the door open, bracing herself just in case anything jumps out at them. ]

[ She eases open the door, and nothing jumps out at them. Nope, it's just a hallway!

It looks like a perfectly normal hallway at that.

There's a potted plant at the end. Next to the only door they can take, though there are two locked doors along the way. The only unlocked door is the final door.]

_{[ Katsura is a bit taken aback by Celty's firm assertiveness up front and gives Hinata a glance when she steps in front of him, but allows it.
Muttering, presumably to Hinata, he speaks softly: ]}

Ah, I think we might have over-prepared. This isn't right at all. We should be extra careful; it's almost as if they were expecting us.

[He's not the only one-- though it does bring some relief to know at least one out of the three of them has impressive supernatural (???) abilities.

Hinata glances over at Katsura.]

Well, we know how hard it is to try to keep things secret here.

[Tapping a finger below his eye. He'll try one of the locked doors, frowning at it before looking to Celty and Katsura.] What about those other two?

[helmets]

[ so much for that idea.

once nothing seems out of the ordinary, celty's shoulders relax and she feels a twinge of self-consciousness for being so assertive and on guard. then again, it's not her first rodeo with CERES and she figures it's better to be safe than sorry. the last thing she wants is for the others to go through the same experience she did last time. ]

Should we try to break them open to see what's inside?

[ like. she once cleaved a warehouse door open with her scythe. maybe she could do the same here?? ]

_{[ Katsura is too cautious to actually touch the door, so maybe using something like a scythe is a good idea. Zura steps aside to give Celty a little more space before replying: ]}

We won't find much if we don't, will we? Using an object like your weapon is a great idea.

_{[ a great idea indeed. ]}

[Well, he can't say anything, and Katsura has a point. Not going to say that though. But they came here to find things, damn it, so he's nodding slightly.

Hinata shifts back toward the middle of the hallway, facing where they came from just in case, one hand at his hip, where his gun is tucked underneath his clothes.]

[helmets]

[ there's another nod from her as she moves closer to the door. she's not entirely sure if the door is as sturdy as it seems, but it wouldn't hurt to try.

once katsura and hinata move back a suitable distance, she strikes the first door in a wide, diagonal arc. there's enough force behind the swing to cut down a regular metal door, but she has a feeling it might not be this easy. ]

[ Wow, opening up with the property damage already. Amazing.

For once, though, it really is that easy. It takes the door down, opening up the way into the room.

The room is dark though, and quiet. Someone wanna find a light switch? ]

_{[ Zura also prepares himself by holding the hilt of his sword, but when the door creaks open into an anticlimatic silence and darkness, Katsura breathes. ]}

Leave it open. Celty-dono, open the next door. Elizabeth and I will investigate the other door.

_{[ even more dividing up. Is this smart? It seems time efficient, at least. ]}

So I'll check out this one.

[Into the dark room for Hinata, though he has doubts about splitting up the Scooby Gang to search for clues. But they're still close to each other, at least.]

Yell if anything happens.

[He hesitates about stepping into the dark room, rummaging in a pocket for a small flashlight he brought, shining it into the darkness before he goes sidling in and looking for a light switch.]

[ she'll go ahead and open up the second door then. she has some reservations about them splitting up more than they already have, but at this point she can't deny that this is a more productive use of their time.

before katsura goes in the second door, she takes his arm and gives it a brief squeeze. ]

Please be careful.

[ after that, she goes to join hinata in the first room. ]

_{[ Zura freezes when Celty grabs him, but gives her a reassuring pat with his hand. ]}

I'm always careful. <sub>[ Which is.. partially true. He's also reckless. He's carefully being reckless? Something like that.

Well. Some people might think that splitting up is counter productive, but they are just rooms, right? Do they lead to other rooms? Maybe not. If anything happens, they're all in earshot. It shouldn't be too bad.

If the room he is entering is also dark, Katsura will carefully slip inside with his companion following after. Unlike Hinata, he doesn't have a flash light, so he palms against the wall for any kind of switch. ]</sub>

[ it isn't like hiccup ever comes into these kinds of things expecting anything besides the unexpected--he's learned his lesson by now--but. well. this is... something else. considering the last time he was here he ended up diving into a trap, this is both an unwelcome and welcome change of pace. welcome because he's not in an elevator shaft, unwelcome because it makes things feel more unsettling, somehow.

behind him toothless bristles just the slightest, the dragon's protective instincts are triggered by the... everything in this place. excuse him as he groans just a little, ear-fins lowering tentatively against his head. even he knows just blasting open the door isn't a good idea this early on. ]

My resolve is crumbling in the face of that very convincing and threatening sign, actually.

[ serious words from hiccup, except not really. tadashi's insistence on going first is met with a raised brow, though the offer isn't entirely unexpected. he's not going to argue that, however, even if he'd like to. in the end-- ]

It'll get harder from here.

[ Hinata's flashlight in the first room reveaaaals... a very messy room, full of filing cabinets. None of the cabinets will open no matter what they try to do, which seems to defeat the point of a filing cabinet in the first place. There's a cat poster on the wall.

Otherwise, the room seems quiet from what they can see from Hinata's flashlight.

As for Katsura, he'll open the door to a room that is dark (CERES is big on saving energy), though he finds the light switch eventually.

Katsura's room will light up to what appears to be a waiting room. It has that stuffy dentist waiting room feel to it, though there's nobody in here. There's a door on the other end of the room, presumably wherever the patients go after waiting for hours.]

[Baymax is busy standing guard and also scanning the area for any other signs of life by the time the Hamadas and Hiccup approach the door. Unlike Toothless he isn't outwardly showing his protective side but he's most certainly gearing up for whatever may be on the other side of the door. He senses his partner's sudden spike of anxiety at the idea of Tadashi going first, but before he can comment on it Hiro rolls his eyes at Hiccup.]

You and I weren't here too long ago, Hiccup. We kinda know what to expect. [But he looks up at Tadashi anyway.] Let's just open the door and see what's out there before we figure out who's going where first. [And before either of the others can stop him he grips the doorknob again and almost forcefully turns it...only to find it even more suspiciously unlocked and allowing it to swing open for the three of them to peer inside.]
