That is, he can hide them perfectly well, in the same way that putting a huge elephant under a big sheet and writing "TOTALLY NOT AN ELEPHANT, GUYS" on it is technically hiding it as well. The more unaffected and lighthearted he tries to act, the more the emotional confusion he doesn't know how to deal with is painfully evident.
