I'm certainly not arguing that much. But leading through covert violence is still leading through violence. And ambition for force alone is a narrow ambition. A true conductor—[ to cash in on those musical metaphors she likes so much!! ]—is able to guide every instrument in the orchestra. If you're actually capable of anything other than beating a problem into submission, however efficiently, I haven't seen any evidence of it.
