dog day afternoon [OPEN]

Who: Miles Edgeworth, his faithful canine sidekick Pess, and YOU!

What: Edgeworth takes his dog around, and runs into people. Adorbs ensues.
Rating/Warning: Dog. Grumpy prosecutor being a little less grumpy.

[OPTION A: RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT

Edgeworth is taking his dog out for a walk around the district. And before he can do anything, the big and very real tricolor border collie suddenly stands up on his hind legs and barks excitedly at the first person he sees (which is you, sorry). Pess may or may not brace his front paws on your thigh or any part of you he can reach, tail wagging with anticipation. It's a new friend. New friend!!! On the bright side, he's a pretty clean dog. NEW FRIEND!!!

Edgeworth doesn't care, and gasps at this public display of affection.]

Pess, no. [That firm "no" is all it takes for Pess to behave, although his tail is still wagging like crazy and he's panting and grinning as a dog would. Edgeworth sighs, shaking his head. He's quick to apologize.] I'm sorry; he enjoys meeting new people.

[Far more than his master.]

[OPTION B: SHOPPING DISTRICT

There's a cleaning robot. It's doing its business, sweeping up some debris from a nearby food stall. Suddenly, out of nowhere comes this border collie. He bounds over to the robot, starts sniffing it, and promptly raises one leg ominously over the poor thing.

What do you do, responsible citizen of Cerealia? What do you do - well, while Edgeworth hasn't caught up with his dog, anyway?]

[OPTION C: GARDENS

Pess is a pro at getting people to play with him. So while you're there, you may just find this dog walking up to you with a stick, or a ball, in his mouth. He drops this at your feet, wanting a game of fetch. If you take too long to decide what to do, he'll just sit down, tail wagging happily and staring up at you with those big pleading puppy eyes.

Edgeworth is close by. He'll be looking for his dog when Pess takes a bit too long to get back to him.]

[OPTION D: GARDENS/SHOPPING DISTRICT/RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT/POLICE DEPT.

Drop something? If you did, you might just find this dog picking it up and offering it back to you suddenly before Edgeworth can act. Yeah, I guess Edgeworth is in this prompt too. Thank his dog. And the master, maybe. THEY'RE GOOD PEOPLES...er, peoples and doge.]

I think so too. And I shouldn't keep you any longer, as well.

Good. And since you're teaching a CYbuddy, it'll probably learn faster than a real dog.

And you manage to care for all of them?

[NO, ROCK SLIDES AREN'T AWESOME.

But Edgeworth, being a one-dog kind of guy, has to wonder how Steven can give all of them proper attention.]

That's a good practice; I myself have been recording all my experiences since I arrived.

[Pess leans against Suzuha. Sweet, he can get petting off her just by acting adorable.]

[Okay uh, let's start with...]

You are at least familiar with ViViD, are you not?

Dogs don't need middle names or aliases.

[Why is he even having this conversation?]

[He eases up on the glare, but:]

[ He gives Edgeworth a look as if to ask if he can go ahead, it's only when Edgeworth seems a little less... grouchy that he kneels in front of Pess. He cups his hands in front of himself, smiling as he murmurs: ] Ye-wircan leef.

[ The words themselves would be barely audible, and his whole movements make it half look like he caught the butterfly that leaves his hands when they open. It flutters to rest on Pess' nose, then starts flying in circles as if to encourage the poor dog to follow it. ]

Yes they do! How do you know they don't, asshole? God, you're a stick in the mud. A stick he can't even fetch!

[prosecutory]

[Pess is at least well behaved enough to finally stop and sit in front of Mitsuru.

Edgeworth nods in agreement.]

We should be on our guard for any information or anything strange, the next time we're in or around ViViD.

Of course. They're all quite self-sufficient, but I raised them - it's only natural that I maintain that care.

[huh. no blue, dagger using dogs elsewhere? what a shame. they really are a great, strong breed.]

They may only be native to my world.

[ah, though going off edgeworth's reaction, flynn may need to clear something up. as cool as having a world filled with dogs that can use weapons sounds, there's only one of those back home.]

Though I should clarify that the breed doesn't normally wield daggers; Repede may be one of a kind in that regard.

Maybe once I get more info, we can both discuss what we know? I'd love to have someone I can talk to about all of this. After all, don't they say that two heads are better than one?

[She gives a gentle smile as she speaks, just thinking about the idea of having someone to talk to is somewhat of a relief for her. Not to mention, the more she got to talk with you, the more time she'd spend with Pess too! It was sort of a win-win situation for her.]

...I feel that will be easier said than done. Most things I've encountered in ViViD I would call "strange"....

[It's okay, Pess is just looking up at Mitsuru with interest, tail wagging.

A small, amused smile tugs at Edgeworth's lips.]

Point taken, but some of those strange things are actually par for the course when it comes to ViViD.

[In short, typical video games. Er, for Cerealia, anyway.]

[prosecutory]

That sounds good. [He taps his temple with a finger and gives her a grin of approval.] You can discuss your information with others as well; many would be very interested.

[prosecutory]

[He figured as much. But now that the shock has worn off, Edgeworth is more awed.]

He must have been very well-trained to be able to do so.

[prosecutory]

[Edgeworth doesn't object further or do anything else; he stands there respectfully, watching the butterfly Merlin seems to have caught...but Edgeworth hadn't noticed butterflies fluttering about.

Anyway, Pess gazes at the butterfly on his nose, and when it takes flight, at first he just follows it with his head, watching where it goes, but the whine he gives makes it clear that he's close to jumping after the creature.

Edgeworth is more interested in watching Pess' next move than the butterfly's.]

[ Merlin rolls his wrist a little, trying to make it look like there's a crick in it, but really he's using the movements to actually control the poor butterfly's movements. It ducks in and out, landing on Pess, landing on the floor then circling back.

Even Merlin isn't sure if Edgeworth was correct in whether he had been disciplined enough to control this. ]

I can imagine that with powers, they can fend for themselves in the wild easily.

[Not like some dogs and cats who would be in danger from speeding cars and hungry, ferocious wild animals.]

And how do you know they do?

Teaching him had taken some effort, but he picked up on things surprisingly fast.

[a little training here, a little training there and they ended up with a dog who could use a dagger better than some humans.]

He can read the flow of a battle decently well and realizes easily enough when another party member requires aid.

[and then you get items tossed at you from a dog. nothing spices up edible items like a little dog drool, right? despite that fact, it's still fairly handy to have around.]

[She's honestly excited about the whole idea, after all the more correct information out there, the better chances they had of finding the truth. Though, part of it was probably because she didn't want others to have misconceptions about things like she did a while back.]
