dog day afternoon [OPEN]

[prosecutory]

Who: Miles Edgeworth, his faithful canine sidekick Pess, and YOU!
When: Any day after the intro log.
Where: Errywhere, pretty much. See prompts for locations.
What: Edgeworth takes his dog around, and runs into people. Adorbs ensues.
Rating/Warning: Dog. Grumpy prosecutor being a little less grumpy.

[OPTION A: RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT

Edgeworth is taking his dog out for a walk around the district. And before he can do anything, the big and very real tricolor border collie suddenly stands up on his hind legs and barks excitedly at the first person he sees (which is you, sorry). Pess may or may not brace his front paws on your thigh or any part of you he can reach, tail wagging with anticipation. It's a new friend. New friend!!! On the bright side, he's a pretty clean dog. NEW FRIEND!!!

Edgeworth doesn't care, and gasps at this public display of affection.]

Pess, no. [That firm "no" is all it takes for Pess to behave, although his tail is still wagging like crazy and he's panting and grinning as a dog would. Edgeworth sighs, shaking his head. He's quick to apologize.] I'm sorry; he enjoys meeting new people.

[Far more than his master.]

[OPTION B: SHOPPING DISTRICT

There's a cleaning robot. It's doing its business, sweeping up some debris from a nearby food stall. Suddenly, out of nowhere comes this border collie. He bounds over to the robot, starts sniffing it, and promptly raises one leg ominously over the poor thing.

What do you do, responsible citizen of Cerealia? What do you do - well, while Edgeworth hasn't caught up with his dog, anyway?]

[OPTION C: GARDENS

Pess is a pro at getting people to play with him. So while you're there, you may just find this dog walking up to you with a stick, or a ball, in his mouth. He drops this at your feet, wanting a game of fetch. If you take too long to decide what to do, he'll just sit down, tail wagging happily and staring up at you with those big pleading puppy eyes.

Edgeworth is close by. He'll be looking for his dog when Pess takes a bit too long to get back to him.]

[OPTION D: GARDENS/SHOPPING DISTRICT/RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT/POLICE DEPT.

Drop something? If you did, you might just find this dog picking it up and offering it back to you suddenly before Edgeworth can act. Yeah, I guess Edgeworth is in this prompt too. Thank his dog. And the master, maybe. THEY'RE GOOD PEOPLES...er, peoples and doge.]

[Hey, don't judge him! He just misses his brother a lot!

But as Takeru looked down at Pess and his CYBuddy, Patamon just giggled]

What about me huh? Don't tell me you forgot about dear old Patamon!

[prosecutory]

[Edgeworth shrugs and shakes his head at Patamon.]

I doubt Takeru would.

[cresthopes]

[And then Patamon just blinked at him]

Oh, I don't mean Takeru! I meant your dog! I don't think he should forget about me either!

[prosecutory]

Ah, I see. [Pess has finally noticed Patamon and is beginning to sniff this other creature. How unfamiliar. How exciting! Pess' tail is wagging eagerly.]

He hasn't forgotten you, in any case. [That's directed to Patamon, of course.]

[cresthopes]

[And the moment Pess started sniffing the Digimon, he couldn't help but smile right back. As he landed on the ground, he waved his hand at him!]

Then it's a pleasure to meet you too! But I wonder though, does he know what I am?

[prosecutory]

I don't think he does...or cares.

[Well, it's true. Pess was curious and didn't really ask questions.]

[cresthopes]

Then maybe we should teach him about Digimon too!

[Takeru suddenly shouted before looking down at Press] Unless you can't teach him about them? But can't a dog learn new tricks or something?

[prosecutory]

Teach him...what about them? [He blinks.] That's different from teaching a dog tricks.

[cresthopes]

I think it's worth a try! Especially if he was made here so he should have all those zeroes and ones and stuff in his head here right?

[That's not how it works, Takeru!]

[prosecutory]

Pess wasn't made here. [A shake of the head.] So h doesn't think like that. [Takeru probably means binary code. Is that how Digimon work? Digital...something? Was that why they were called Digimon?]

[cresthopes]

Then does that mean he thinks just like any other dog?

[He said before attempting to pet said dog. And yet, he couldn't help but sound rather disappointed.]

[prosecutory]

I would think so, although he learns faster than most. His breed is among the smartest.

[Pess pants excitedly when Takeru tries to pet him, and remains still for some pettage.]

[cresthopes]

So does that mean if I taught him how to play fetch, you think he would learn it really quickly? Because that would be a lot of fun! Maybe he can teach my dog how to do that too!

[That and he has no idea how much a corgi can learn anyway!]

[prosecutory]

...Pess already knows how to play fetch, Takeru.

[Edgeworth chuckles. It was child's play to the dog...actually, to just about any dog.]

[cresthopes]

Oh! [Pause]

Then do you think you can teach Yamutto how to play fetch? [He just wants to spend some more time with his not!brother okay?]

[prosecutory]

Yes, but...it's easy enough that you can do it by yourself.

[Edgeworth isn't scolding or lazy or trying to shake Takeru off. He does believe the boy can handle it on his own. Especially if it's a CYbuddy, probably less likely to fool around than a real dog.]

[cresthopes]

You think so?

[He said before looking down at his dog and then back at Edgeworth] So does that mean I just throw a stick and he'll just get it by himself or something?

[prosecutory]

And reward him, if he retrieves the stick.

[He nods. The positive reinforcement was key.]

[cresthopes]

Oh then that doesn't sound like it's too bad at all! I think I can do that!

[He said before pondering to himself] But it's going to be a really good treat if he'll listen.

[prosecutory]

Good. And since you're teaching a CYbuddy, it'll probably learn faster than a real dog.
