[Having known Shinpachi for as long as he has, Sano has learned a few things, such as the different versions of anger his best friend tends to display. He's narrowed it down to two big kinds, and Sano knows they exist since he's been on the receiving end of both. There's the kind of anger where Shinpachi comes in hot and strong, like a hurricane, though it ultimately dies out relatively quickly after some yelling and stomping off. Then there's the more serious kind where it hits just as hard, but at a more steady pace, full of Shinpachi's passion, and it doesn't wear off quite as soon.
Right now, Sano is too drunk to really focus on which version Shinpachi is displaying right now. He believes they'll be okay, they always have been in the past, even if it will take just a couple hours to get over themselves or a couple days. And yet there's still that niggling doubt in the back of his head because Sano does have this bad habit of eventually ruining whatever he touches.
But the thought of losing Shinpachi's friendship is too much. He can't even think about it for more than a second, and on top of everything else that's happening right now...
He can't even argue Shinpachi's points. He's not saying anything wrong. All Sano can really do is tell the truth, though he knows it won't placate Shinpachi. He's not sure anything he can say will, to be honest. It will just take time, now, and Sano hopes it won't be too long a stretch of it.]
