you can't spell "alone" without "leon" ([personal profile] discard) wrote in [community profile] estoria 2016-01-28 08:39 pm (UTC)

[He doesn't step back, even as she steps closer--but he's Leon, and he can't back down, even when it's to his own detriment. He knows it himself, but he's always been that way, and despite the anger on her face and the sharpness of her tone, he can't back down now.

(Even if he does feel a little bad, that he's the one to put that expression on her face--it's still all he's ever been good for.)

And ultimately, he just scoffs, sharp and under his breath.]

It isn't. [Of course his pain isn't the only pain that's true and real. Everyone suffers. Everyone has their own suffering. Rutee had been saved from Hugo, but she'd had her fair share of different suffering, which made her into the person she is today. Stahn--

... Well, it seemed that no matter how Stahn suffered, he was still able to pick himself back up and smile at people. Maybe that's what it is. Maybe Rapunzel is someone like Stahn--but it's never made any sense at all to Leon.]

But I know already that I am not able to do something like that. [This is an awful lot to derive just from a request for a dance--but sadly, he's heard that over and over here. That he should be kinder, that he should help people more, that he should be a better person. And he knows he can't do it. He can't fight back against life with his feelings, with dancing, with any sort of smiling and joy. He's not that sort of person. (He's not that strong.)] Keep your preaching to yourself. I didn't ask for it, and I don't need it. What you do with your life is your own choice, and what I do with mine is my choice.

[And he already made his choices. There's no going back from that now. And the people like Stahn and Rapunzel and Otome... they were stronger than him. And--that was a good thing. Maybe they would be able to be alright in the end where he'd already failed.]
