discard: (The Gates of Dis)
you can't spell "alone" without "leon" ([personal profile] discard) wrote in [community profile] estoria 2016-02-14 08:14 pm (UTC)

[It's really not clear at all, because for every moment that Lili thinks she's pathetic herself, Leon thinks there's a clear moment where he's pathetic as well. He's lived a pathetic life in a lot of ways, and even if she doesn't know his story at all, even just seeing those glimpses--isn't it obvious how pathetically he ended it?

But she says she respects him instead, and that's such a strange feeling as well. Even when in a position of power over other soldiers, he so rarely had their respect. He knew that much; it was plain and clear and right in front of his face.

But Lili--

Why would she respect someone like him? Someone like him who gets lost easily, who can't handle being dunked in water, and...who died in such a pathetic way?]

I won't thank you for this.

[That much is...almost more of a warning than anything. Even if she somehow keeps her word, and makes sure he doesn't face a difficult situation alone--he won't thank her. He doesn't want this, he never said he wanted this, and it's her own hard-headedness and stubbornness that is bringing her into this.

(But...at the same time, it isn't a bad thing, is it? She'll let him down in the end, because everyone does in the end, but if somehow she didn't... it wouldn't be a bad thing.)]
