The monsters, he could've done without, because really, without his Gundam, the only thing he can do is run -guns are pretty useless against things that will shrug off what should've been a fatal shot and keep coming, after all- and the ruins, while making for great places to hide from said monsters, are unstable and treacherous. So he goes with what he knows (second) best: computers and technology.
But yeah, the alien on the other end of the feed isn't creepy, nope, not at all. It's about as not creepy as the mask he'd been given... which is now sporting the bloody fingerprints of a child. Totally creepy, totally not normal, and it's probably a safe guess that there's a reason they've allowed the connection to be made, since most people don't do that unless there's something they're after. ]
