LORD right after the event...
[ they're all home, and one of the first things haru does is take a very long bath. seriously, how long is he going to be in there..? did he drown, maybe? maybe you should check on him-- the door isn't locked.
if the door's opened, then haru will be found on the bathroom rug in his pajamas, hair wet, concentrating very hard on stitching up his slashed feet. .. he's not like swords, after all. he has to heal the old-fashioned way. ]
( two )
[ for those who've been with haru since he first became a saniwa, his current state of mind might be familiar. he's definitely subdued after that trip to the dark parts of the colony, even more quiet than usual, respectful and nervous and withdrawn. still, he's keeping so busy that it's probably easy to ignore.
the truth is, he was just reminded of something that he'd let himself forget, and he feels guilty, and it's manifested itself the last day or two in deep-cleaning all three apartments. today, he's standing on the countertop in the kitchen, scrubbing above the cabinets. unfortunately, with his feet bandaged like that, he doesn't have the best footing, so he shifts-- and yelps, arms pinwheeling as he starts to fall. ]
( three - a mingle within a mingle??? )
[ finally, like a week later, he asks all his swords to come to dinner early one night. he still looks nervous and shy, like suddenly they're all strangers again, but after he sets out the food, he straightens to his full tantou height and takes a deep, bracing breath. ]
I-- I wanted to tell you all that-- [ you can do this, haru. ] After we go home, after the-- the war's over.. you don't have to go back to the places you lived in before you were given to me. [ his eyes drop to his hands, which are curled tightly in the hem of his sweater, white-knuckled and shaking a little. ] You c-can stay with me or.. or go wherever you want to go. It's your choice, not.. m-mine, or the organization's, or anyone else's, and I-- I'll do whatever I have to.. to make sure you have it.
[ he hesitates, then sinks back down, narrow shoulders hunching in embarrassment. uh.. dig in? ]
3...
But when he get a chance to...]
Really?
[His voice is almost quiet, but he sounds surprised. He never thought about going anywhere else but back into the private collection after the way.]
I don't... have to go back?

He really isn't expecting any sort of announcement or anything fancy like that. Its just dinner? Haru likes it when they eat together and it's been awhile since they've done it last. Mutsu enjoys it too and in his excitement, he doesn't even notice the way Haru shifts about awkwardly to himself around them. Well, he does but Haru is always a little on the uncertain side...
So when Haru sits up and addresses them all, Mutsu looks up from that one piece of meat he was giving battle stares at other swords over. Huh? Was this... something important? He wonders if it has something to do with those mirrors that had hurt so many of them before... maybe he just wants to reassure them all or something? It seems like a very Haru thing to do.
And then he says it. "You don't have to go back." Immediately, his mind goes to his display case in the Kyoto National Museum. It wasn't bad, you know? A little boring but he got to see a lot of people whenever he was out. They would get close enough for him to hear their stories but otherwise? It wasn't a bad resting place.
He definitely prefers his time at the citadel with Haru and the others more, though.
Gee, he sure is quiet for awhile like he really can't believe he just heard that. )
no subject
Gahahaha! What's this? Making plans for after the war and everything, are ya? ( HE'S PROUD OF YOU, HARU. MAKING PLANS, SETTING GOALS. ) Good for you!
( AHAHAHA but oh, man, they can stay?
He can do that? )
WILDCARD no i just had something else
Haru is no exception.
It'd take a little bit of research - flowers are too temporary for her to believe that a bouquet would be enough, perhaps something more solid like a rock would be a better gift for him. It led her to wondering what kind of rock and her search led her to turquoise stones as a traditional protective talisman for old warriors and shamans. Even though Haru hasn't quite reached that level in Lili's eyes, he's skilled enough to be important to many people. And so he needs protection.
She tries to be stealthy, she really does, but there's only some level of stealthy that she can be when she's pacing back and forth in front of Haru's room.
Should she knock?
Is it important enough to disturb him?
Maybe she should just leave it in front of the door--
No, Lili, what you got is a little too expensive for a gift and run.]
