[Oh, good, they seem to know each other already. It's so nice when his new friends and his family get along. ♥]

It took a while, but Mei here finally helped me get out. That jungle was getting seriously old by the end.

Oh, so you two have already met?

[How convenient! This makes his job-- both in getting Kouha settled in the apartments under Haru and getting the Swords acquainted with him-- that much easier!

Koumei stifled an amused chuckle.]

I should have forseen this. The two of you together are like a pair of beans in a pod.

I do! I'm in the first apartment, so it's super easy for me to pop over and visit you guys.

[Pointing off in some vague direction YEAH. He'll also nod in response to Koumei's question.]

We met back in that weird dating thing. He's got a great eye for fashion, you know!

Mei's not really one for fashion, which is a shame. Maybe if you visit a lot, you can help me get him on board sometime!

[He shoots a grin to the man next to him, teasing. He loves you, bro, but the chance is too good to pass up.]

I humbly request that you please be kind, whatever it is that you two intend on doing.

[He intoned flatly, with the expression of a man who was well accustomed to allowing his younger sisters (and brother) to play with his hair.]

Hey! Fashion is all about kindness, even if getting to the end result might be a steep climb.

[He's the most overly overprotective one, despite being the youngest, and that kind of comment goes right to the heart. He puts one hand over his heart, dramatically acting as though he's really wounded.]

Looking good is always worth the effort in the end, anyway.

[Koumei bowed solemnly, seeing already that there was no talking his way out of this one.]

[POOR, POOR KOUMEI... Giving up so easily because he knows he's dealing with some truly dedicated fashion punks. Or, you know, just straight-up punk punks.]

But it's fine, since your hair is a nice color already.

[They're true punks to their cores, no matter the topic. At least they aren't pulling a Mean Girls yet.]

[Plus, it helps them look related, so Kouha will dig his heels in whenever the concept of either of them dying it comes up.]

What, is Haruji's hair weird? What color is it?

[He's heard of the mysterious Haru, but he hasn't gotten to meet him in person. Now, his curiosity is really piqued.]

Parts of it are dyed an interesting pink, [Koumei explained, unruffled by the banter between the two young men.] And no insult was intended-- I just don't feel like that style would suit me.

[Because the hair color was the one key feature amongst all the children who were sired by their father, and it was fairly unique. He was rather fond of it, with it's distinctiveness and everything.]

Pastel shades are super in right now, so I talked him into trying it out! He liked it so much that he kept it.

[More like he likes Kashuu so much that he continued to humor him, but hey, same diff...]

But don't worry, don't worry! Like I said, your hair color is good. But you have a looot of it to work with, so we can try out a ton of styles!

Pink?

[He lifts a lock of his own hair, wondering how much pinker than this someone could get, if Kashuu was getting so defensive about it after complimenting them.]

Guess he's a bold guy, huh... If you're gonna keep up, Mei, we're gonna have to do something extreme, too! Without changing the color, though. Maybe we could do it up, instead?

[Don't lose to this Haru guy, Koumei!!]

[Headtilt. Koumei looped his fingers through his immensly long ponytail and pulled at it slightly, as if thinking.]

You mean this doesn't count as 'up?'

[It was (mostly) out of his way, and that was good enough by him!]

[He's lost to Haru just by virtue of not being Haru, in Kashuu's eyes... the #bias is real.]

It's kinda like, messy half-up? But I think he's talking about a real proper updo! It's totally different from just pulling it up into a ponytail.

Ponytails totally don't count, especially when it's that messy.

[Seriously, sometimes it looks like Koumei goes to bed like that and just never redoes it in the morning. He gestures with his hands, motioning at hair sitting way higher up on the head.]

A real updo's way more complicated... Like, you remember what Kougyoku did when her engagement got announced? Something like that!

[That hairstyle might be a bit much for a guy, though.]

[In fairness, Koumei probably did go to sleep with his hair tied up and not bother redoing it in the morning. That required work, and who honestly had the time for that?

But Kouha's suggestion may have actually made Koumei a little nervous. He recalled that hairdo quite well-- she had looked ~~like an old hag~~ far more mature than her 17 years, and it was a complicated hair style.]

...I don't believe that hairpins that ornate are really suitable for this.

Hairpins? [HAIRPINS?? Kashuu loves hairpins, okay. The more ornate, the better! He claps his hands together, clearly delighted by this idea even though he doesn't know who Kougyoku is or what her engagement hairstyle was like.

Something like that would be nice! You can dress it down for daily wear, obviously.

Yeah, she had all kinds of gold in her hair for it. That might be a little much for him, though...

He gives Kashuu a grateful smile. It's nice to have somebody with good taste on his side.]

But hairpins would be one of the better ways of holding it up. Don't say that before you've even tried it, Mei!

[Koumei cast the two of them a bemused look before idly twisting the stray locks of his ponytail between his fingers.]

Honestly, I never thought to give them a try. Our sisters were the ones who put those in my hair.

Then we'll just do the same! It'll look really pretty, I bet.

[Which is always the endgoal that everyone should aim for, clearly!!]

Yeah? If you've already had it done, it'll go that much easier! And if it looks bad, we'll just take it out and do something else. We won't let you go around looking dumb.
