[Oh how to discuss this with him? Hadn't William tried that before even? Back in London, when he'd asked why God would torture Solomon when he loved him so much? Of course, William hadn't known Kevin was actually Uriel, the very angel from those dreams.

And anger at God was a complicated thing. One that had been tempered over time as he'd embraced Realism. How could you hate something that didn't exist? Far better to think that the horrible things that happened in life were not the work of some all powerful deity, but random chance. That was far more comforting.

But then demons and angels had entered his life and William had been forced to shift his world view again. And for the moment, he had concluded that God was nothing more than a strict teacher or a controlling parent. Pitiful in his inability to get that he couldn't control humanity, so he foolishly doubled down instead, which only worsened the problem.

He searches a moment for what he wants to say.]

Well we do come from different worlds. It might be that the God of his world is very different from ours. Though I think that what he says and feels still applies to ours.

[While they were different in many ways, William could understand much of what Kazuya felt in that regard.]

It's hard to be told that God can punish and take from you and that you are supposed to love him anyways. That you are supposed to understand and obey someone who will never even bother to speak with you. It's frightening and frustrating.

And it's hard when someone like yourself come along and says to love him and accept his punishment. It even sounds dismissive.

[This isn't a pleasant topic and honestly, it would have been easier when William had still thought Kevin human. But the fact that he's not is all the more reason to try. Because if they can't reach an understanding, or learn to at least respect one another's differences, then what do they have?]
