Well lucky for Duo, Kaneda's not thinking about the whole being left to die thing. He's too worried about The Claws, and not getting them in the dick as the creature lashes out in pain and anger.

It's claws tighten around Kaneda and for a moment he thinks it'll take care of him and then go for Duo, but it releases him just as quickly, staggering towards the other teen.

Kaneda just lays there for a second.
