Who: Hijikata (

hijiwanwan) & all his friends! Or anyone who just feels like harassing a historical figure.

Where: The park
What: Hijikata's birthday party! He's turning 181 years old and needs to get his daily exercise, so a surprise party is being thrown! Good work, team.
Rating/Warning: N/A

[A small area of the park has been cleared out and decorated today! There are balloons, streamers, party poppers and all other manner of birthday paraphernalia set out. A banner on one of the park's gazebo's says HAPPY BIRTHDAY HIJIKATA in surprisingly well-written letters (especially compared to the banner in front of the nearby dojo, ah...), though it's also slathered in glitter. Anyone walking under it may just find themselves covered in glittery snow...

But what's that over there? A buffet that's incredibly well-stocked and ripe for snatching food from! It's covered in everything from small finger foods to entire boxes of pizza. There are little trifles and cookies and bowls of candy and chips as well, though the center of the celebration is the tiered cake in the middle table. It's matcha and white chocolate, of course.

And over there? Several tables have been set up with music and records, as well as various party games - pretty much anything your partying heart desires. One has also been set aside for gifts, and there are several boxes stacked on top already.

But you might want to watch out for those nearby ponds and the snappy alien fish lurking around in them, or the foliage nearby that seems kind of... hungry. Maybe they should have picked a better location.]

He also just smiles an infuriating smile in response to that. HM, HOW DID HE KNOW. A mystery!! (Or he really does just pay attention more closely than people give him credit for, ah.)

I'm kind of afraid to see 'over the top' then. This is already big enough.

But ah - what's this? A(n awkward) head pat?? Kashuu looks a little taken aback by the gesture, if only because Hijikata doesn't really seem like a head-patting kind of guy. Did he do good? Good enough to earn one?! Is this like spotting-a-unicorn-in-the-wild levels of rare...

Well, considering he's 1) normally very receptive to affection anyway and 2) affected by The April Curse, he'll just soak this up like a sponge. He tilts his head as if to follow Hijikata's hand and smiles like a big dumb sunny nerd...]

That was weird. Well, I guess we'll just have to find out. We never really celebrated birthdays like this back at the headquarters though... [ so why would Kashuu set one up like this... ]

ANYWAY, he shakes his head, because tragically he's been in Cerealia long enough that he hasn't been able to experience their great New Years party himself, yet.]

We haven't really been around long enough to have any celebrations, but Haruji had his birthday here a while back! We all share it with him since so many of us don't remember our forge dates. That was a really nice day, so I figured that's probably a good kind of celebration to have.

Huh, really now... [ well... it does look like a pretty lively party so far. there's lots of things to do and people he wasn't expecting to come seems like they came and are also enjoying the festivities. his own fun isn't really what's important, really. if there's one thing Hijikata enjoys seeing more is everyone else just... having fun, you know!

That's such an old man thing to enjoy though, what the fuck. Never mind, Hijikata's earned his grandpa status again... How old is he really, 80?? Luckily Kashuu keeps those thoughts to himself though, so he can just enjoy the praise without being scolded.]

I mean, back at home if you're seen with sweets the soldiers would probably think it'd be okay to sneak in stuff they aren't suppose to sneak in.

But plenty of people had sweets in the base, y'know?

[HIJIKATA. How many times has Kashuu seen someone come back with a little satchel of konpeito or a small bag of wagashi or some fresh mochi... A Lot™. Some things just can't get between a man and his sweets, including house rules.]
