Who: Hijikata (hijiwanwan) & all his friends! Or anyone who just feels like harassing a historical figure.
When: The first weekend of April
Where: The park
What: Hijikata's birthday party! He's turning 181 years old and needs to get his daily exercise, so a surprise party is being thrown! Good work, team.
Rating/Warning: N/A
[A small area of the park has been cleared out and decorated today! There are balloons, streamers, party poppers and all other manner of birthday paraphernalia set out. A banner on one of the park's gazebo's says HAPPY BIRTHDAY HIJIKATA in surprisingly well-written letters (especially compared to the banner in front of the nearby dojo, ah...), though it's also slathered in glitter. Anyone walking under it may just find themselves covered in glittery snow...
But what's that over there? A buffet that's incredibly well-stocked and ripe for snatching food from! It's covered in everything from small finger foods to entire boxes of pizza. There are little trifles and cookies and bowls of candy and chips as well, though the center of the celebration is the tiered cake in the middle table. It's matcha and white chocolate, of course.
And over there? Several tables have been set up with music and records, as well as various party games - pretty much anything your partying heart desires. One has also been set aside for gifts, and there are several boxes stacked on top already.
But you might want to watch out for those nearby ponds and the snappy alien fish lurking around in them, or the foliage nearby that seems kind of... hungry. Maybe they should have picked a better location.]

Don't worry about it. Hm... Is it now? I thought all you kids get really excited to celebrate things like this. [ right??? right??? he doesn't know! when he was a kid all he did was work and pissed off his employers because all he did was get into fights with them. fun times. ]
Ah... I guess, it's sort of fun? I don't know, this is my first time actually celebrating my birthday.

[ Far from excited, the look Rapunzel gives him is surprisingly helpless and also a little conspiratorial, like the two of them are members of the same club. A club where their friends encourage them to do things and they aren't opposed to it but at the same time they have no idea how to do those things.
At least, that's how it's always seemed on her end of things. ]
I don't know. I'm - not really a kid, am I? Heh, I don't know. This whole... people thing? Kinda new to me, I guess. You're the first person I've met who's doing the same thing I'm kind of trying to do. Have a birthday party for the first time, that is.

[ stating the blatant truth... but once again, almost everyone is a kid to him? at least, since Rapunzel looks to be in her teens. so yep. kid. ]
Well... [ true, he never had a birthday party... and this kid has never had one? that's almost kind of sad. though, Hijikata can't be that sad since the idea of birthday parties is still completely odd to him - also unnecessary.
but ah yes, the "people" thing... not something "new" to Hijikata, but definitely something he isn't good at! considering since he's Mr. Anti-Social after all. ]
I guess that's right. Though, I just never had the time to actually have parties like this. Too busy since responsibilities come first... Ever since coming here I've actually had more free time than ever in my life. So it's kind of weird to me.

Rapunzel looks around for the first time since starting this conversation and her eyes land on the food. Kashuu, of course, has outdone himself, because that's what Kashuu does. He also does food well so Rapunzel looks over her shoulder and gestures conspiratorially at the buffet. ]
Come on. Let's get some food and you can tell me what kind of responsibilities you had!

Well, I have nothing else to do...
[ Kashuu does kind of know how to throw a party, apparently. there's too much food to choose from and Hijikata has yet to really try it all. what's better than to celebrate by trying the banquet and talking anyway?
not like he'd be good at those games, anyway (will he ever try them? the mystery). ]
Like what? [ are his responsibilities even that interesting? no, they aren't. well, time to check out the food though. meanwhile, Hijikata rubs the back of his head - she asked, so might as well list a few things. ] Paperwork. Taking care of troops. Training them... I guess. It's not much, but it takes up the entire day.
