[ it's a sign of just how much Souji's out of it if he doesn't even raise his head at the noise of Sano's approach, but the children around him more than make up for his lack of reaction. A couple of them immediately start protesting, but a few look back from Souji to Sano and start moving away. There's still like that one kid who's pointedly sticking by Sano and asking who he is, but the rest ask Sano to please keep his promise because "people shouldn't be beggars, that's not a good way for adults to live!" (thanks kid) and they slowly filter away.
only then does Souji raise his head. apparently being out of it can only go on for so long, especially since Sano's a familiar face.
just not a face Souji's sure he should be happy to see. (he's never happy to see anyone, lbr.) ]
Sano-san.
[ he says, by way of greeting. ....where was he? he didn't think he was close to Sano's apartment, but maybe he got a few streets mixed up. that's the only reason why Sano would be walking around here, right, it's not like Sano has work that he just gave up for Souji's sake or anything wow ]
