[Johnny was just glancing over the brightly colored nails when the door opened once again and Veronica came bustling in. It's hard not to notice the way she lights up as she takes it all in, intrigued by even the most mundane of happenings. How must it be to live every day with that much enthusiasm? A faint smile tugs at his lips and when she spots him, he raises a hand in greeting.]
Hey. It's no trouble.
[And he actually means it, which is saying a lot for Johnny. He wasn't always so jaded, but it's become hard to trust and harder to open up to others. Veronica... well, she had a way of wriggling in and making a spot for herself, whether he wished for it or not. Despite how prickly he'd been at their first meeting, he was honestly glad to see her from time to time.
The compliment, like before, left him feeling a little sheepish. Wasn't that the sort of thing he was supposed to say? Though he might not mention it often, Veronica was a beautiful girl, but she always seemed to beat him to the punch with this sort of thing.]
Yeah?
[He ran a hand through his hair, hiding his face for just a moment behind it. It felt so strange not to wear his hat. Or his shirt, for that matter. In front of a lady and all. Well... it wasn't as if she hadn't seen it already anyway. One of their first meetings had been an awful lot of skin and sun and closed quarters on that strange beach after all.]
Whatever helps 'em sell more manicures I guess.
[He shrugs before finally meeting her eyes.]
You look nice too y'know. Figure out what y' wanna do with your hair?
