Still, when there's a little girl politely thanking you for saving her, there are other things to focus on besides a very relevant and strong fear of water--so Leon breathes out a shaky breath before he shakes himself and straightens his shoulders. The last thing he wants to do is look weak in front of someone like this--she doesn't seem to have realized, but it doesn't matter. Children are perceptive, after all.

So instead, bravado is the name of the game. He tries to focus on her, instead of on the water still trickling by them, and for the most part it works.]

You were not, though. [He shakes his head, responding instantly.] You were not swept away, so it is more important to focus on what we may do from here. You are still alive, and that is what matters.
