The only (minor) benefit seems to be a lack of angry monsters flying with them and a tendency for the crazy antics of the colony to be below. It's a chaotic ride, but she keeps her eyes open and her mouth shut after the first surprised outcry.
PLEASE CAN THEY LAND SAFELY she thinks really, really hard, but as she's not a telepath, well, fat lot of good it does. Right when it seems like things could not possibly get more fatal than they already are...
