[Minato could have excused himself right now and there's already a part of him that's withdrawing internally, but hearing about Yu from the perspective of someone far closer to him than he had the chance to see is fascinating in a warped sense, given that he knows Yosuke's words are somewhat twisted.

His stare isn't letting up at least, still calm and still in front of Yosuke's animated gestures even if he does shake his head in response to Yosuke's first questioning remark.]

He doesn't talk a lot about himself, but Yu-san is a lot more open than me. ... [It's the second part that's harder to address, the one about how Yu didn't think of whether Minato was actually making him happy.

I couldn't even tell if you liked me. There's a painful tug on his heart as he recalls those words and he's biting on his lip without even realizing it; he'd always thought it was obvious that he wouldn't let anyone hold him and kiss him unless he liked that person and yet, and yet...]

Maybe I don't know him much at all, if you could see that he was confused and I thought he was happy to be with me. [That much was true at least, insofar as how Yu's expression of doubt about their relationship to Minato had always been less than what he had talked about to his friends.

It's a horrible feeling that leaves him feeling cold, finally learning the extent to which Yu had been doubting the way things were between them. Pain is part and parcel of a relationship, but this...it feels like cruelty, and worse still because he hadn't intended things to go this way at all.]

That said, I don't think it's pathetic to feel like you should like someone close to your best friend to keep them happy. It just means you're a good friend.
