[ His determination, at least, she does not doubt. It's hard for her to imagine him honestly giving up on anything without it crushing him first. (She really hopes that won't be the case here.) ]

I suppose I have those. [ Even with all that talk of not having a heart, nobody ever said anything about any other internal organs - or rather their metaphorical counterparts - being missing. She does considerable listening to her gut, actually, although in this case her gut says it's a bad idea to listen to it. It says they're going to get hopelessly lost and probably be shaken down by a bunch of maniacal robots, and then Lee will have to punch and or kick a bunch of metal things and that won't be fun for anybody. ]

[ But, you know, she's making an effort to let his optimism be contagious, so she doesn't say that part. Instead, she begins to trail after him, illusions still keeping ahead of them. Maybe if they squint they can try to identify landmarks before they get covered over? ]


What do your instincts say is this way?
