It started almost the moment she woke up.

Iris didn't use an alarm, and yet a blaring nose erupted, startling her into a hazy state of consciousness. A noise that stopped once she was able to blink the rest of the sleep from her eyes. From there, however, more and more things contributed to her...challenging morning.

Her refrigerator wouldn't open. Her stove wouldn't light--until it did, and nearly singed the edge of her sleeves off. From there, she moved to pick up her CereVice for the day...only to have a small spark of electricity shock her fingertips. She dropped the device, where it fell to the ground. Then, when she tried to pick it up, a drawer opened itself, slamming her hard.

Needless to say, after several more unfortunate encounters, Iris practically stumbled out of her apartment complex. Taking great relief in the soft grass beneath her. The fresh air. Not as cold as she was used to, but certainly nowhere near as stifling as when her room temperature decided it wanted to do a poor imitation of Death Valley.

"I don't understand..." she murmured, heaving a sigh as she collapsed into a sitting position. "What's going on?  It's...as if my whole place is out to get me..."

feytality: she'll beat you up with her noodle arms (Does Maya have to smack a bitch?)

See, it wasn't the first time Maya's surroundings had tried to kill her. Literally. She was a light sleeper, nowadays, and when the toaster managed to shoot crumbs in her direction (but not far enough to reach her, unfortunately for Godot Junior), she jolted awake, clutching her notebook.

And from then on, it continued. Maya unfortunately didn't have an entourage around her to make sure she didn't fall into any deadly traps the room could provide - but the technology was more of a major inconvenience than outright life-threatening. At least, not until Maya's hairdryer had nearly gotten her. Yeesh.

Regardless, Maya tumbled out of her own apartment complex with a cleaning robot futilely chasing her and trying to, uh, mop her to death, and had managed to survive the lowest budget of Terminator yet. When she made her way outside, sighing in relief, she was surprised to see--

"Iris!"

And immediately scrambled her way over.

"Can you believe it? My TV started rebelling! And then my fridge, and toaster, and well... everything! I knew technology would rise up against us one day!"

In other words, it was good to see Iris, too.
